Going to School
"Ok, we'll start with elemental magic. That's one of the easier ones." (M)
After I called mom, we went back to the backyard and she placed a few targets a good 15 meters away.
"I'll show you an example with the low level spell
Mom stretched out her index finger and condensed an fireball with a diameter of 50cm. She then shot the fireball into one of the targets.
*WHOOSH*
The target burst into flames and then burned down after a few seconds.
"The strength of your spell is depends on two things. The first is how much mana you pour into it, and the second is how well you can imagine your spell. Elemental spells are easy to use because they are also easy to imagine." (M)
Then it was my turn…
I simply constructed a ball of mana outside my body and then imagined it would burn like gasoline. And it worked pretty well, I succeeded on my first try and managed to create a fireball with a diameter of 30cm.
"Not bad son!" (M)
I then experimented a lot with the spell, imagining what would happen if the air around would only consist of oxygen. And surprisingly my spell got stronger without me actually using more mana.
For the next two and a half years, I trained my magic spells together with my mother. We also practiced close combat and I fought a few times against her. Fortunately I was already proficient with kung fu in my last life, so I didn't lose too badly and could actually fight for a few minutes.
(time skip)
I am now 6 years old. My mother wants to send me to a private school for nobles and rich families.
[Why do you want to go to school? They can't teach you anything useful there.]
"Hehe, you don't understand. Going to school is fun, I'm always home here with mom, rarely going out, it's getting boring. Furthermore I'd like to graduate, that would help me find a job later on."
[You actually want to work here? You could try to become the strongest being on the planet and found your own empire or something like that.]
"It's not like I can't do both things. Give me some time, I want to have some peace before I start my adventure. You know, I always wanted to work as a chef."
[Well, I didn't know that.]
"I admire them, and also I really like trying new food."
[If that's that you wanna do, I have of course no problem with you becoming a chef.]
"Hehe, thanks."
At dinner…
"Remember that although you're going to a magic school, you should never show your full power. I'm afraid they will take you away with the excuse that you have an obligation to serve the kingdom." (M)
