Chapter 2: Fate?

After walking in silence for what seemed like forever they were finally out of Central Park, straight out to 59th street right across the Plaza, where Aura lived.

She loved New York, it made her feel good, at ease, not having to hide who she was all the time, everyone here was a bit weird, like her, but still, there was no place like home and she missed the Palace and its people an awful lot.

She missed the blue sky and warm temperatures of her world, a perfect place, made for people that were slightly different and for creatures that had no explanation.

Aura thought she wasn't perfect so she didn't feel like she belonged anymore, hence her coming to her father's Realm, at least here she didn't feel out of place.

'Good night Mr. Ramirez, could you please tell Mrs. Ingram I'm coming up with a guest.' She asked the receptionist, who eyed her strangely but did as she asked.

Aura smiled for the first time that night and the effect it had on Morgan and on Mr. Ramirez was immediate, like a wild fire on a stormy cold night, even Morgan's beast felt it, the more he saw of her the more he wanted to see.

They went up to her suite, Mrs. Ingram her human guardian, neat as a pin, was waiting for her with a cup of tea in her hand, 'Don't lecture me, not tonight, it surely can wait until tomorrow, I just want to sleep this off.' She asked Mrs. Ingram putting her hand up to shush the old lady.

'Very well Milady, but I must warn you, your Mother will be here as soon as she can.' And with that she went to her room, her chin high and her back so stiff Aura couldn't help but cringe, Mrs. Ingram had the power to make her feel guilty.

Morgan looked around unconsciously letting the blanket slip a little showing his gorgeous body right in the middle of her living room.

'Oh my!' She could feel her blood boiling; she had never seen such a gorgeous man, suffice to say her mother did not believe in friendship between the sexes, and protected her daughters from any male interference.

Morgan had a look of mystery that made her sigh inwardly 'Could you please cover yourself, I'm going to see if I can get the Hotel store to send some clothes up, Ok?' she asked Morgan.

Feeling embarrassed by his indifference to his lack of clothing, she noticed the medallion dangling from his neck was beckoning to her again, it figured, she was a trouble magnet, she had a shape-shifter guardian in her house.

'Well you can't exactly complain now can you? You are not exactly normal either, are you?' The little voice in her head said maliciously.

As she just stood there staring, he had the decency of getting the blanket secured again, this was just too much for her, Aura was shaking inside with both the shock of facing the Shadow and having such a man within walking distance of her, she was afraid she would make a fool of herself.

He stepped forward, 'Your mother will want to know why I'm here she doesn't see eye to eye with the Guardians and I don't know if she'll accept me being here.' he said with just a hint of a smile.

'Yes I know, I can feel her now, it was scary before, the Shadow blocked them from my mind, why does Mother not like the Guardians?' she asked pensively.

'I don't know, but I think it goes back to the beginning, I don't think it's the actual guardians she dislikes but one of our Protectors the Celtic God Dagda.'

Aura laughed hard, so much so tears fell down her cheeks, 'That's rich; my sister's father is the protector of the Guardians! No wonder she doesn't like you, she's not even on speaking terms with him anymore!'

The laughing came to an abrupt halt when she gazed up at him capturing his eyes in hers and for an eternal second she felt her insides burn, he made her crave, thirst, he had wakened something deep inside her, something she was afraid would destroy her… 'Oh boy, he was dangerous; she could feel it all the way to her bone marrow.'

'Funny, there was a time their love kept our world together, but now they just can't get along, maybe Dagda can't accept he does not control everything…'she said thoughtfully looking away.

Morgan had never seen such an unstudied beauty, he was rendered speechless, nothing had prepared him for this overwhelming depth of feelings, he reached out to hold her hand but as they touched the heat spread across them like lightening coursing through their bodies, it made Aura jump up and break the connection, Morgan looked more than surprised himself.

'Don't worry it happens when I shift back into human form, its just static.' Morgan lied trying to hide the impact she just had on him.

'Oh! Ok.' she said sweeping past him going to the drinks cabinet, not really believing him, she could feel his touch imprinted in her soul.

'I would like to know why you were there, besides the obvious reason of saving my butt.'

Morgan looked strangely at her, 'I am a guardian, it is my duty to protect you.' He answered solemnly, looking at her as if he wanted to read her mind.

Aura was so surprised she spit her water, 'You're joking!' she turned away to face the window, her heart was beating dangerously fast 'Joking? Why?' he asked surprised not understanding the expression.

'No, not actually joking, it's just a manner of speaking.' She explained drinking the rest of the water, trying to slow her heart rate.

'Ah! The council sent me, it was a close call but they want me to keep an eye on you.' He said liking the way she moistened her rosy lips with the tip of her tongue, completely unaware he was watching.

She had him feeling weak and aching to touch her, he had jumped at the opportunity of being close to her, the fact that he might die in the process nothing compared to the chance of having her close, it was the beast he had inside, the last Light he protected that enabled him to be here with her, the only reason the Fates had let him come, because he would do whatever it took to protect her and their magical world.

Aura felt invaded by his piercing green eyes but walked closer and whispered in his ear 'You're working for the Fates!' she accused him as if it was something out of this world, lots of people worked for them, they were all powerful, even the Gods of gods feared them.

'You may think what you want; I'm only here to protect you.' He answered back not the least offended by her crispy tone.

'Do you just turn into a wolf or can you shift into something else? She asked curiously, 'I can shift into almost anything, I just happen to like wolves.'

He paced awkwardly, smelling her, taking in the way she looked, so unconscious of her beauty and the power she had over him, the beast called out to him, to conquer her, to make her his slave, he reached out to touch her, her hair so beautiful and so long he wanted to bury his face in it.

He wanted her badly but for every step he took she took one backwards so he quickly had her cornered against the wall.

'Why are you looking at me as if I'm about to become your next meal?' she asked a bit scared of him, after all she didn't exactly know him.

'What are you afraid of Sorceress? Are you afraid you'll want to jump me or that I'll jump you?' He teased her, knowing she would get back at him for it.

'Well I… there is no jumping about to be done where I'm concerned. I just don't want you to think that I'm available.' She said in a hoity toity way, putting some distance between them.

'You're welcome to stay, you can have the sofa, it's not very comfortable, but I'm sure you have slept in far worse places. We will decide on our course of action tomorrow.' And with that she bolted for her own bedroom, his sexy laugh following her.

Inside she sat on the bed and sighed, that annoying voice harassing her again 'You're in trouble, you like him, hmmm…more than that…you want him!'

Aura had never felt anything like this, it was an overwhelming sweet agony that made her heart race and her body hum.

After the coldest shower in history, she put on a big t-shirt and fell into a troubled sleep only to wake up screaming, Morgan bursting in the room at the same time she opened her eyes.

'He's coming, he won't rest until all of us are dead!' she cried out, her hands shaking as she tried to get her hair out of her wet face, he stalked across the room sat on the bed and held her in his arms, absorbing the sobs that rocked her.

'Don't worry, you are not alone, all the guardians are after him, as I'm sure your sisters will be too, you'll get your powers back on the full moon, am I right?' he asked trying to get her to focus on something else.

'Yes, but you are not going to like me very much when I explain it to you.' She said almost smiling; her face red and puffy still didn't make her anything but beautiful to him, 'Why do you say that? Will you suck my powers?' he asked trying to lighten the mood she shook her head and smiled sweetly at him.

'No, ok, let me guess again, you'll ravish me?' he asked amusedly, trying to fix her hair behind her ears, his lack of self-control surprising him, she had some sort of controlling power over him, no one had ever had, not even the beast, but then he knew it would be like this since the first time he had lain eyes on her.

'Nope, you wish!!!' she grinned.

'You've got me…what happens?' he asked amusedly, his long hair coming down to cover his face.

'I shape-shift into a black cat, you will have to protect me while I'm like that, do you think you can handle me?' she asked.

Trying to read his physical response, her insides were melting and all she could think of was that he looked "yummy" even with the blanket still tied securely around his sexy hips; he looked like a Greek God, and she was not entirely sure if he wasn't one.

'Sure, with my hands tied! You have nothing to fear, and besides your human guardian will help.' he whispered close to her ear giving her a chill.

'Mrs. Ingram you mean, yes, she always helps me, but usually one of my sisters is here, only… now I don't dare call them, he might get to them, at least they are safe for the moment.' She explained the stress and the concern obvious in her posture and her shaky voice.

Morgan seemed to be thinking about the pro and cons of the whole situation, giving her a chance to observe him, she liked the way his hair fell across his face, and brushed his torso, he was pure muscle, lithe and most certainly deadly, but the contour of his mouth was driving her crazy, itching to touch him, she wanted something from this man but was at a loss as for what exactly, she knew he had the answer for the craving she felt, she eyed him over distractedly not noticing he was looking at her as she had her fill of him.

'Ok. Let's sleep.' He said grinning at her, he came closer never letting go of her hands, his caress on her palm making her brain turn to mush, it was as if his hands were all over her and not only touching her hands.

'Sleep?' she shrieked unsure, he was looking at her strangely again, 'What is happening to me?' she felt her body temperature go up making her feverish.

'I'll sleep with you.' He said simply, Aura opened her mouth and then closed it again, her eyes travelling down to their joined hands.

'Just sleep? Right?' he nodded looking the picture of innocence, 'Yes, just sleep, that sofa is killing my back!' he said openly eyeing her, from her long loose hair, to her satiny skin, the beautifully lashed icy blue eyes, 'Geez!' if she thought all he wanted was sleep, his eyes roamed her body coming up to stop on her mouth, 'Sleep, oh well, he could try.'

'Ok.' She said sitting back against the pillows, Morgan moved to lie next to her she pulled the covers over them, turned to sleep, and felt him pulling close to her.

He splayed a powerful possessive arm around her waist, making their bodies touch from head to toe.

She was so nervous she turned around to speak, as she did his head came down and he kissed her, languidly saying against her lips 'Go to sleep, if you can, I'll be right here.'

Instead of doing as he said she kissed him back, he froze surprised with her boldness but quickly gathered her in his arms, and pressed her body with his, her skin like silk, his hands roving, feeling every curve, every rise, every fall, skimming her sides up and down deepening the kiss, making her moan into his mouth, he had waited too long for this moment, she was his salvation, his way out of darkness.

Aura arched up into his hands, it was as if she had craved for him all her life, only he had the power to quench her desire.

'You really are a witch!' he murmured against her ear, his lips brushing lightly against her lobe, the energy burst surprising her when he nibbled her neck, sucking hard, while his hands traveled down her back, she bit his shoulder with the rush of electricity that made her want to claim him as hers.

He wanted more, he lavished attention on her lips, sucking them and gently biting her. 'Trust me.' He said slowly kissing her into oblivion.

Aura had her soul in her eyes as she felt his lips on hers, kissing her sweetly biting her lower lip, the pleasure exquisite, but when he moved his tongue over her lips she moaned in a completely different way, almost as if she was purring.

He kissed her face, neck, lips, ears until she felt she would die from the pleasure, Aura looked disoriented, 'Please, please! She purred and when he looked into her eyes again, he knew he was doomed.

The beast charged him with power he absorbed from her, she drove him to the edge and they collapsed together in that fast, frenetic pace, in the end all he could see were her eyes as she felt the completion only two beings meant for each other could ever attain. It made them weak and powerful at the same time, it also made them feel spent and deliriously happy.
