Threat

The next day, all of the adventurers continue to do their job. And at the end of the day, they start to leave the mansion.

Helena, Markos, Romain, Volya, and Gracia stayed a bit late there, and now they are preparing to leave the mansion. When Romain opens the door, one of Reginald's knights stops them.

Seeing the knight, Helena immediately says,

"We will be back for tomorrow's job and have a good rest, so please let us..."

"We need one of your men to protect Lord Reginald," replied the knight

"Huh? Why did the order come at the last minute?" ask Markos.

"It's because of your incompetence!" shouts the knight.

Markos, Helena, and Romain look at each other to confirm what the knight will tell them. At the same time, Volya and Gracia try to read the knight movement.

The knight then takes out a paper and gives it to them. Helena reads that paper and shows it to the other. That paper mentioning the killer will strike Reginald today.

Helena peeks at the knight and hears,

"What did you do for the entire day?"

"Where did you find this?" asked Helena

"Near Lord Reginald's chamber!"

Markos then nudges Volya and Volya immediately says,

"Didn't there be a rule that we can't come near Lord Reginald's chamber? And isn't your group the one who patrols around that area?"

"..."

"And why didn't any of your members make a ruckus and inform us immediately when you found this message?" continues Volya

"Don't talk back with us! Even if it is around Lord Reginald's chamber, didn't all of you notice any movement around the mansion while patrolling around the area?"

Volya immediately makes a dissatisfied face towards the knight and gathers the other to him. He then says,

"What do you think? Should we stay for that? The threat looks suspicious to me,"

"I can't deny that it's suspicious, but we can't reject the order," replied Helena

"In other words, we need to accept the order," continues Markos

"What a drag," replied Romain as he sighs

"Then, let's prepare ourselves, no?" said Gracia with a smile

All of them nod and then Helena says,

"We are ready to patrol around the area once more,"

"We only need one person for that," replied the knights

"Huh? One person? Isn't it better if we have more people to protect Lord Reginald?" asked Markos

"It's an order..."

"But..."

"After all if there are more people around the mansion, there will be a chance where the killer didn't show up," continues the knight

"Isn't it better if the killer didn't show up?" asked Romain

"We need to capture the killer and need the killer to show up," replied the knight

"So... You need a bait,"

"..."

Volya then gathers the other once more and says,

"I can't think of anything as there is a lack of evidence..."

"But, isn't it dangerous to leave only one for protecting Reginald?" asked Romain.

"There is a chance of Dominik's case repeated here..." said Markos

"You are right..."

Suddenly the knight shouted,

"Why did you take so long?! Just pick someone from your ranks now! We will do a patrolling around the area,"

"Alright... We will pick one," replied Helena

Helena looks at Volya, and he nods. But before he walks and says something, Gracia stops him by pulling his shirts.

Volya looks at Gracia and is quite surprised with Gracia's plan that she sends through telepathy. After a long pause, Volya nods and says,

"Be careful, Gracia..."

"Don't worry... I could take care of myself," replied Gracia

Hearing that Romain, Helena, and Markos were quite surprised. Gracia then walks towards the knights and says,

"I will be the one that patrols around the area together with your group,"

"So be it... Follow me!" said the knight.

As Gracia follows the knight, the other three immediately gather around Volya. Helena immediately asked him with full of rage,

"Why did you let Gracia do it?!"

"She has a plan..." replied Volya

"Huh?"

"And it has something to do with something that only both of us know," continues Volya

"Eh? Something that only both of you know?"

Volya immediately walks away from the three of them and says,

"Aside from that... Did you underestimate someone who used to be called 'The Smiling Angel Of Death'?"

"No... I'm just..." said Helena

"So... you don't need to worry about it. Isn't it better if we wait for her at the inn?" continues Volya

The others look at each other and look more concerned than before. Before Helena asked him again, Volya made a sign to talk about it later.

As soon as they see the sign, they leave the mansion together. But, they still can't fend off the uneasy feeling inside their mind.

As they walk through the dim-lighted hallway, Volya peeks towards the direction Gracia takes and mumbles,

"Take care, Gracia... And hopefully... This could become our breakthrough,"
