High above Marex 4, near the limits of its upper atmosphere, a series of red trails were starting to form, but this wasn't a meteor shower, but a grouping of 420 mill semi active armour piercing homing shells, fired by orbital artillery in high orbit. With each 420 mill shell creating a lance of superheated plasma as they ripped through the upper atmosphere, an asymmetric heatshield and internal reaction wheels served to steer the shells towards their final target, but as the shells slowed down from orbital speeds and entered the denser parts of the atmosphere such guidance became less effective before turning entirely useless before the outer heat shielding of the shells were purged with guidance fins and flaps taking the place of reactions wheels while a solid rocket motor in the rear of the shells ignited in concert to increase the kinetic energy they would impart on their designated target.
