POV: Sai

Today morning I woke up late. Too late. And that is very unlikely of me. But since four months I turned out to be a heavy sleeper.

After a little while when I went to our dining table, breakfast was ready. It was warm enough to not microwave. It tasted very good. Hana sis must have made it. While I am at my food I checked my phone that was just beside on the table. One notification was in and it said about breakfast, a text from brother.

Not knowing what to do, after watching some news on TV, I decided I would study some.

It was lunch in no time. The bell went off. I jumped off my study chair and opened the door. Brother, or I will just call him Kai, came in. He was always home for lunch. He would prepare some lunch quickly while Hana would eat at the canteen at her workplace.

POV: General

"Lunch?" Kai questioned.

"Um, I was studying... I didn't really see the time," Sai says with a hint of apology in his tone, not catching the actual question of his brother.

"Sai. You are not obligated. It was just a yes or no. Have you eaten was all I wanted to know." The elder brother said. But the younger had a feeling of obligation. It never creeped into his mind before his brother got engaged, when their family consisted only of them. But with Hana in the picture, his brother had his own family. A family that was different from his. Somewhere in the slit, he felt he was an extra person now, especially with the doubtful existence of a rift between him and his elder sibling. But he never felt completely lonely. He knew he was who his brother prioritised.

Whenever he came home, it did not feel like just the home. It was more like his brother's. Maybe, it was not just because of Hana, but also because of him being away and staying close to his university. Money had not been the issue ever since it was just the two. So, the only way Sai thought he could do something in return for staying at his brother's was to at least help the couple with the little daily chores. And, cooking was his best.

"No." Sai simply answered.

Kai lets out a sigh, an uncommon thing for him to do. "Everything is fine with you being in your university. If it's about that, then make sure I don't find you gloomy another time." The elder brother warned the younger; he knew how to take care of his sibling.

Sai didn't say anything though he knew that his brother was oblivious to the actual reason. For him, it was still awkward and guilty to look into his brother's eyes. It was just not comfortable enough. But it was better than putting him in a dilemma of choosing between his fiancée and his younger sibling. He was thankful that his brother can never possibly have such thoughts. He was grateful to have a big brother like his. Kai left for preparing lunch.

He silently retreated to his books. He wasn't really studying but just glancing at them. He turned some more pages and found some interesting topic. He started reading it without actually giving it some concentration. Half way through the passage, his words stated making sense to him. He did not start from the beginning to understand it the right way. He just continued on with reading which now transformed to what one would call a full-fledged study session.

"Sai."

"Sai." Hearing no response from him, Kai called out again.
