Suffocation

After sometimes all of us were talking just on general topics. We were pretty loud. Thanks to Jessy, she can make nice choices. There's almost no one around us. In fact, this place looked pretty homely and there were 4 big tables, with a good amount of distance between.

The little bell hanging by the door went off and May walked in. I am seeing her after a relatively long period of time. She quickly waved towards us when she found us. When she was halfway to our table, the bell tinkled again, it was Fern.

Fern ran up to May and they hugged. After some more hugs with James and Jessy we all settled in. Soon, James's likes for all us arrived. I guess nothing changed as to the foods because all of us were eating without a complaint. Enjoying the food, however, was far for us as the secrets were hanging in the air. Time sure changes a lot of things. During the older times, when hanging out together, eating like this was as normal as walking the road every day. I know this wasn't the best time to reminisce of the past, but who would have thought that we would be fated to a meal like this?

Ton would look at me when he thinks I am into my food. I did hide enough from him. He was not trying to make me feel guilty; rather he was only trying to make sense out of his observations. There was something going on between James and May, like they both were engaged in a silent talk and their concern for each other was quite clear. Also, Jessy and I would shift eyes as soon as we make an eye contact. Lastly, I also realized that May was keenly concentrated on Jessy as well, but not under the knowledge of her. The only one that was actually into eating was Fern. But, she looked tensed a bit, I am not very sure of it though. I haven't known the girl very well.

Everything has become too suffocating. But still, I know none of us want to get finished with this day any earlier.

Soon after lunch, we went up the building to higher floor. In the past, we usually met at some park in the evening and dinner would follow. We would then go back home a little into the night, late after dinner. This time, they planned for the whole day.

"Whoa, Jessy, how much do you two earn? This looks more expensive than the lunch!" May exclaimed as James swiped the key card to the suit which was accepted.

"Shut up, I studied enough and good, unlike someone." Jessy replied. See, this is what I said about her being the least friendly person.

"Burn!" Ton dragged the word dramatically enough for all of us to burst into laughter as we went in and closed the door. He sometimes knows when to say what. I like it when we talk about her studies. That's the only time May gets all embarrassed and worked up. It is no secret as to how bad she is at studies. She is too over-confident and careless regarding education, and that suddenly escalated to a different level soon, more so especially after we passed out of our school.

"I'm not failing . . ." she whined in her defence in a low voice.

"You are almost," I said, later realizing that I still had some bravery to talk to her without thinking.
