Aurora continued to explain how the school works and it's rules. The more she explained, the more the tension in the room thickened.
She also mentioned that tomorrow was a free day for the first years to relax and get used to the school. Then the day after that was when actual classes were beginning.
"Just relax and enjoy this wonderful afternoon." She said with a smile as the school bell rang.
No one could relax their shoulders though. They had just found out that there would be arena battles. Then if you end up the 10 last ranked group, there would be a battle royale for the losers. It could even be called a death battle of some sorts. Ranking means power.
Some people, mostly commoners, don't have magic. Or basically, they aren't gifted with magic at their birth. They either use swords or weapons to fight. Only a 1 in a million has a magic. Nobles fight with magic while commoners fight with their swords. Though there are nobles who fight using swords but that's because they want to or because they like it. Some who fight with swords and magic are called combat mages. They are the combination of both mages and swordsman.
Everyone exited the classroom immediately. Only Bailey, Aurora and Denear were left inside the classroom. "Your going to your dorms now?" Aurora asked Denear.
Denear stretched as he stood up. "Nah, I'm going to walk around the forest for a little bit..."
Bailey gathered her things and stood up as well. "Good afternoon teacher Aurora."
Aurora put her hand on her chin as a thinking position. "Hmmm...Now that I think about it, you two would make a great duo."
"Duo?" Denear asked.
Bailey started to blush.
"Like a group, for the arena battles and stuff." Aurora put plainly.
Boom! Bailey's dream were crushed. She had thought that Aurora meant they would make a perfect couple. (Duo...Couple?) She went back to her serious face. She had just gone a little bit giddy a few seconds ago.
"Oh.." She said sadly.
"Why do you say that?"
"Like...." Aurora paused. " Bailey here is a swordsman. She is considered the strongest between all the commoners. In her entrance test, in the physical section, she came out on top..even among the boys. And you...."
"How would you know i'm strong? I never went for the entrance ceremony." Denear interrupted.
"Oh about that.....Audrey told me.."
"Big Sis Audrey?" Denear was surprised.
"Heh....Seems like she's gone soft." She said in a teasing manner.
"You know Big Sis Audrey?"
"Yeah, we go wayyy back.." She said in a proud manner.
"Who's....Audrey?" Bailey asked. The air around her turned as cold as an ice-burg.
"She's my teacher who taught me for 10 years." Denear smiled, remembering about their happy memories together.
"Oh.." It seemed like the only reaction you'd get from Bailey was "Oh.." but inside, Bailey was relieved. 'Phew! Not another enemy....'
"I bet she told you huh?" Denear sighed thinking about what Audrey would babble on about.
"You pick up fast.... you're correct."
"Of course.." Denear paused. "It'd be an insult if I didn't.."
Bailey and Aurora was left thinking about his last line but they didn't mind and just put it aside to the back of their heads. What Denear meant was that, with his Wisdom stat so high, it'd be an insult to himself.
"What did she say?" Denear curiously asked.
"Uh..."

Aurora was sitting in her desk, filing papers and preparing for the school year.
Crash!
A sound came from the window. "Huh?" Aurora walked over and saw a bird, an eagle to be exact. She opened the window and gently picked up the eagle and started patting it slowly on the wings. She smiled. "There...There Traveller. Long time I haven't seen you. You've grown so big these years." The eagle hawked while brushing it's head on Aurora's soft hand.
"What does she want with me?" Aurora looked at the eagle straight into its eyes.
The eagle lifted up its right leg towards Aurora. On its leg was a pouch. Inside was a letter. Aurora opened the pouch and read the letter. It read:
Dear Aurora
I know we haven't seen each other for years but I really miss you and want to come visit you some day. But for now, i'll go straight to the point. I am a teacher to our other comrade, Heins Cornelius' son. Tinro and I have taken quite a liking to him though his personality is a little weird or maybe just rare and unique. I've never seen a kid as strong as him. He can even go head to toe with Tinro in a fair fight and get a draw. You're probably wandering why you did not see him in the entrance ceremony. Well, that's because his father adores him so much and wanted to have even a little more time with him. I feel like we don't even know our old comrade as well as before anymore.
And one last thing, keep my tiny cute student safe or else Tinro and I might have to pay a visit. I hear Tinro secretly sob in the middle of the night. That big rock is actually crying which comes as a surprise. I've taught Denear for some years and i'm 100% sure he is a genius among geniuses. Don't worry about his studies or fighting/magic abilities even when it seems like he's slacking off and goofing around. All you need to worry is when he gets a mental breakdown.
....
Aurora smiled
"Oh nothing much.....Just that I have to take care of you..."
