In the next moment, however, she found the idea crazy.
If she were to spread the word, Lu Zhaoyang will definitely suffer but so will Huo Yunting.
Besides, if she was found guilty of spreading rumors, how could she ever hope to marry him? How could he still be willing to accept her?
"You will not tell anyone about this. If you do, I'll make sure you suffer!"
Yu Man'er was shocked to see the ever innocent Mo Shan transformed so abruptly in her behavior, and nodded without thinking.
"I… I won't, don't worry!"
Mo Shan smiled coldly. Her face twisted with ruthlessness.
Lu Zhaoyang, you will pay!
An hour later, Lu Zhaoyang exited the washroom tiredly. She dragged her shaky legs towards the elevator with a blank expression on her face.
"I'm going home."
Huo Yunting clicked his tongue. "Leaving early from work?"
Lu Zhaoyang continued walking without looking back. "Take it off my salary, or just don't pay me, I don't care."
No matter how much she gave in to Huo Yunting's whims, he never went easy on her and her mother, but came up with even worse tactics instead.
If that was case, why should she treat him any better?
She would go wherever she pleased!
Huo Yunting leaned against the wall and lit a cigarette. He savoured it slowly and chuckled pleasantly as he watched the woman made her fast exit.
Lu Zhaoyang left everything behind and stayed at home for the next three days. Even when Huo Yunting returned at night, he studied her with an unreadable expression. However, she did not feel afraid. She was pushed beyond her limit.
She reluctantly went back to work when her office desk was nearly buried in paperwork.
The consequence of her impulsive decision was to work overtime. After nearly twenty-four hours, she finally finished typing up an important contract and had it sent over to the other company to sign.
If the other company accepted all the terms in the agreement, the joint venture would become official.
Lu Zhaoyang immediately returned home to catch some sleep. It was not even two hours when she received a phone call from her assistant.
"Secretary Lu, we have a problem!"
Lu Zhaoyang jolted out of her bed. "What happened?"
"There is a problem with the contract!"
Her assistant quickly explained.
"The president quoted three hundred million, but the contract you sent to them quoted eight hundred million! Hai Shang Corp is now forcing us to follow this second version of the contract!"
Lu Zhaoyang's eyes widened in surprise. "That's impossible!"
She remembered clearly that the contract she sent out had quoted three hundred million.
"It's true! Now the entire company is blaming you for the lost of five hundred million. The board is shocked. They're having a meeting now and want you here immediately!"
Lu Zhaoyang pinched her nose and got out of bed. "I'll be right there."
She made her way to the office as fast as she could, and was greeted by colleagues who were either there for the show or to support her.
Lu Zhaoyang straightened herself, ignored her colleagues, and knocked on the door of the meeting room.
"Come in."
She inhaled deeply to calm herself down and stepped into the meeting room.
The meeting room was packed with all the higher-ups of the company, including all the board members. It was a grand audience.
All but Huo Yunting wore a heavy expression on their faces and frowned at the sight of her.
"Secretary Lu, what have you done? Such a simple mistake, and here we thought you were an exemplary employee. The president was wrong to trust you!"
With one of the board members starting the accusations, the rest of the people in the room began to talk as well, all blaming Lu Zhaoyang for the massive loss she had cost the company.
