A Blessed Mystery

Nyla and Linx made camp for the night, they were hoping to meet Clain and Kavira before now but they never showed up. Hours passed and they were growing hungry, their stomachs grumbled and Jacko was telepathically telling Linx that he wanted food.

More time had passed and there was still no sign of either of them. "Maybe they decided to go be with each other and left us behind." Nyla wasn't all that happy with her assumption but she couldn't help but taste the sour drink of jealousy.

After Clain and Nyla returned from the the highlands, Clain witnessed the relationship between Linx and Kavira had grown into that of a couple. She was hoping that he would finally look at her and try to be something more with her but he rejected her once again. She alone was the only one who remembered that they kissed since he didn't care for her in that way but she decided to keep quiet. If Clain didn't want her there were so many other men that would kiss the ground she walked on. She hadn't given up on Clain entirely but she opened herself up for other opportunities.

"Kavira isn't interested in Clain. Why would she be? She has me. I'm just as handsome and a hundred times more charming. She has no need for Clain." Nyla rolled her eyes, this little brother of hers really thinks too highly of himself.

"I'm sure she finds you attractive but you're too self serving. Maybe she finds that attractive but a lot of other women don't especially not ones that love themselves." Nyla couldn't help but bring up the fact that he has a bad history with women. "You have never been in a relationship with any woman, now you find someone you like and you've completely slowed down. She isn't really sure about what you want because neither are you."

Linx hadn't really thought about it that way. He was just trying to be patient and give Kavira time to want to do things but what Nyla was saying made sense. He wasn't presenting to Kavira what he wanted so how was she supposed to know.

"Thanks, the wisdom of my old sister is really going to pay off." Linx Laughed but Nyla narrowed her eyes like a hawk, jumping towards him to try and grab his ear but he moved away. She ran after him trying to grab his shirt but he was always a step ahead. They played catch for a while before they decided to call it a night and head to bed.

"Sir, we weren't able to capture Nyla and the group of people she is traveling with." The short chubby guy stood in front of a dark figure, the silhouette only visible because of the entrance candles of the room.

"What happened?" The silhouette spoke in a demanding voice forcing the chubby man to tremble to his knees.

"Well they had flying companions, two left on a thunderbird and two left on a griffin. They split up and we were not able to follow them, we've had people trying to track them down for hours but we've lost their trail completely." The chubby man was sweating through his clothes hoping that the silhouette would have mercy on his failure.

The silhouette banged a gold cane against the floor and it lit up with fire over the tip of where the man held it. The man was tall bulky with a beard that reached his chest, his hazel eyes were angry for even having to use the light of his cane to see such a pity of a man.

"You will find Nyla and you will bring me the people she was traveling with." The mans overpowering voice rang through the walls which made the man tremble even more.

"Yes, Lord Yoru. I'll bring her to you as soon as we find her." The chubby man bowed but the man tsked.

"No no no." The man moved his left hand index finger in a disapproving motion. "You will not be going anywhere. Dalton!"

"Yes my lord." A young faun of about twenty stepped forward, red fur yellow eyes and an obedient bow.

"Find Nyla and bring her to me." The man raised his staff up to burn the chubby man standing in front of him. "Make sure to be quick."

Dalton bowed once again bowed, taking his leave. He had no time to prepare, he grabbed his weapons and a handful of successful hunters. He explained the mission and headed to the area where Nyla was last seen.
