Through the Door

Leena woke up and found herself in a tent with a sleeping Dracon to one side. Leena glanced around, she tried to speak but the words wouldn't come out of her mouth. Her entire body felt really sore. She wanted to shake Dracon awake but she could hardly move.

After a few tried she gave up and just stared up at the ceiling until she felt Dracon's body twitch awake. Dracon glanced up at her with sleeping eyes and when he saw her eyes open he thought he was dreaming so he rubbed his eyes before looking at her again. "You're awake?"

Leena gently nodded. "Why aren't you talking?" Obviously Leena couldn't answer but she still tried. She opened her mouth and a raspy voice came out like this one she had heard back with the mermaids. "I.. ca't..ril'ly..tok."

Dracon understood and went in on her, checking to make sure everything else on her body was okay. He had so many question he wanted to ask her but he realized that now wasn't the best time for such things. "I'll let you rest, I'll go inform the others. Get some sleep if you can."

Leena nodded and watched as Dracon left the tent.

"How is she looking?" Kavira was the first to ask when Dracon came over to the camp fire as they were all eating.

"She's awake." Dracon wanted to keep it a secret but he knows that many of these kinds of groups depend lot on trust. Even after learning who he was, cursed soul and all, they didn't bother him. He remained by Leena's side looking over her, and they still spoke to him on occasions. "I did a check up and informed her to get some rest. She can't speak or move."

Kavira furrowed her eyebrows. It was a similar situation from what she had been through after being asleep for five years. Come to think of it, it's been more that a year since she woke up. So much had happened. "Maybe I can help. I've been there before when I slept for five years I woke up unable to speak or move."

Dracon nodded his head as he stuffed his mouth with food. "In the morning, we can work on that." Kavira was satisfied and after dinner they all went into their respective tents except Linx and Dracon.

"Is she really okay?" Linx didn't want to speak when everyone was around. He remembered looking at her beautiful ember eyes and it scared him to almost know he lost her. He didn't want anyone to see him and pity him but Dracon was different, they were just like the same person caring for the same person.

"I don't know. It's difficult to know what's really going on inside her mind but physically she is unharmed." Linx was afraid of this. No one could ever know what was going on inside her, she hid everything. If it was out of habit or fear, it wasn't good for her.

"Do you think it'll be okay if I go see her right now?" Linx had spent so much time away from her, he wasn't ready to accept that she was asleep and powerless so he kept his distance.

"I wouldn't recommend it but I wouldn't keep you away from her either." With those words Linx stood up and strolled over the Leena's tent. She lay their silently with her eyes closed. Even in her sleep she was so beautiful. He was reminded that he had these feelings for Kavira but never this intense.

Linx sat on the stool by her bed and looked over her still body for a moment before lifting his hand to touch her face. "I missed you too. I'm sorry... I tried to forget you Leena. I tried to start fresh but then you came back into my life. When I saw you again I wanted to stay away from you but I couldn't. I keep falling in love with you no matter how many times I see you." Linx touched her pendant, smoothly going over the moonstone with his thumb. "I'm sorry that you suffer because of me."
