A Marvelous Flames

He spends a lot of days to master the language of the mortals, which is Alma Mather. Jack realizes the benefit of learning different languages. He can find the truth of this new world by reading the ancient documents with specific language, all he have to do is to learn it. Although this kind of stuff is somehow boring, atleast the end result would benefit him greatly.

"Now that you're ready, I will introduce to you the runes." He paused for a moment and continues. "Runes are some kind of letters that can trigger the mana to activate until it produce the wizard's intentions." Jack listens attentively while taking notes in his mind.

"Some of the wizards have to chant the runes completely to activate magic. But I can see the potential in you that you have a talent in chant omission." The old man continued.

Jack choke himself when the professor mention that. "I'm sorry, but what makes you think that I can perform this difficult task, this chant omission?" To think that he has a talent at something, he somehow itched at this unfamiliar feeling.

"I know that you're aware that the moment you step foot in this cave, I already watching you.

When you hunt the mabeast, you only chant two words, which is 'Flame on' then you can manifest a huge and great flame without running out of mana." The professor answered.

'I actually can manifest the same flames without those words. I just love to say flame on, because it's cool.' He didn't voice out his answer because the professor might disappoint to his lame excuse.

"Haha you flatter me much but I still need a couple of attacks since I know my flames are not omnipotent" This is the opportunity to add a new element in his repertoire.

*sigh*

"I know you expects greatly at me, but I only master one element, which is wind." Professor Musha said.

"Like I told you, it will benefit me the wind magic since it makes my fire grows stronger. You don't have to doubt yourself and just teach it to me. Remember, you want to spread your knowledge, right" Jack said with eagerness.

With the help of Professor Musha's explanation and guidance, he can now manipulate strong wind and can adjust the power without much effort.

Jack shows this to Professor Musha about the things that happen why he cannot use wind magic now, but his dark green flames evolve to a whole new level.

"What a marvelous flames! This intense and very malicious flames are very dangerous. I can feel that this flames have no weakness to elements. What is the name of your flames, young lad?" The professor was shocked by seeing this new kind of flame.

"Scorchfire. But what does it do, other than burns?" Jack asked wondering what's so special about his flames.

"Your flames burns the surrounding wind until it becomes a gas. Resulting to a whole new flames. This flames can absorb fire, can burn wind, can evaporate water and can redirect lightning. Only earth can stand a chance." He continued without paying the young lad's shocking face.

"Based on this result, I can now prove that you as a soul are evolving at an unimaginable rate." The professor explains to him slowly so that he can comprehend completely behind his words.

"From what I observe, when you kill a mabeast, they manifest a soul stone, a crystal that protects their existence. An act of eating a soul stone will greatly change the composition of your soul. Although you're still a dead soul, your existence will become dense and it might engraves the abilities of the said soul stone.

Because of your complex soul, everything you learn that it's possible to combine, it will automatically adjust and combine it without side effects. And that's why you can't use the wind magic but you now possess a powerful fire magic." Now Jack realized that he has no system, his own existence just updates on what he gained and it will automatically mix the skills if its possible to mix.

"If you said that, then I have a question." The professor waves his hand, telling him to continue.

"Since eating the crystal candy... I mean soul stone can make my soul stronger, then why did I not gain anything when I ate the soul stone of the bear a second time, or eating a thousand bat soul stones but gained only two abilities?" He tells the professor his uneasiness because if he wants to gain new abilities, he needs to find a unique mabeast, every single time.

"Let's just say that it only imprints the abilities once." He noticed the disappointment of the young lad.

"But still eating it is not a waste. It will help you to make your body become denser and improves your mana capacity." He explains to the young lad that overeating a soul stone is not entirely bad, but can help to become stronger.

"Okay thanks for the explanation." Its a good thing that he didn't hesitate to eat those repetitive soul stone.

"But how come you know so much about this? Are you also a dead soul who eats soul stones?" The last thing he wants is to have a competition in eating soul stones.

"No young lad, I'm still alive. Mortals can't absorb the essence of soul stone. To mortals, this is just a stone full of mana, but to dead souls, this is nourishment." The professor said.

"You still didn't answer my question. How come you know so much about this?" Jack can keep up with the conversation, and he's always aware if someone wants to hide something.

*chuckle*

"Let's just say, I stole some apple in a certain tree. By eating it, I gain some knowledge. How about that?" The professor didn't back down and have no intention to tell him his secrets.

"Okay, I still owe you since you're being sincere in helping me. If you don't want to tell, then I will respect it and I won't pry." He understand it because he also didn't want to tell him that he can use his skill without runes or chant. A skill the it might become a controversial to some wizards. As much as possible, he wants to make a low profile.

"Are there any more question?" Jack's head shakes.

"Hmmm. Now we can proceed to other matters. I'm going to teach you how to perceive mana and also how to hide it." Jack once again become energetic, this can make his perception improves.

"What I will teach you is Eyes of Magic." The professor paused for a moment then continued.

"This magic can perceive not only the dense of the mana, but its color." Jack noted this information.

"The color of mana represents the element of mana. Now this is how its done." Professor Musha carefully demonstrates on how to perform the Eyes of Magic.

Because of using his fire skill and roar skill repeatedly, he subconsciously manipulate his mana without effort. He gathered a certain amount of mana through his retina. He makes sure that the mana stays in the eyes with enough mana so that the body part can handle the pressure.

"The next thing that I will teach you is on how to defend yourself from illusions or hypnosis. This is called Mind Barricade.

Some of the monster have a roar attacks that will make its enemies stun. The good thing about this magic is it can also block the effects of roar.

But only if your brain can handle the pressure of mana." He warns the young lad that if he use it with wrong applications of mana, it might lead to several complications like lose some of memories, become a vegetative state, or death.

Everyday, he slowly envelopes his brain with mana carefully so that his mind can adjust from the pressure. The professor also helps by casting some weak illusions, to see if the young lad can see through. Time passed and his brain develop to a new level and can handle a very dense mana to the point that even hypnosis and roar combined still can't penetrate his defenses.

"In the deepest part of our soul, there exist a space that no one can enter. But to us wizards, we can manipulate it so we can use it as a storage of our items. This magic is difficult to control since it involves your very existence. Just be careful in using Duat magic." said Professor Musha.

*breathe in* *breathe out*

He concentrates while sitting with indian style, gathering mana with a smooth balance. Trying to invoke his inner potential to learn this difficult magic. He takes a long time to achieve that magic.

Now that he acquired the most cheat that the main character has, which is the storage that can store many loots. Thanking himself for overeating a soul stone, he has a lot of mana capacity to support his Duat and can store many things.

He try to grab the sofa in the living room, and he shamelessly store it so he can practice his Duat. Of course, he bring it back and place it as if it didn't disappear earlier.

"Next magic is somewhat interesting, it will represent the behavior and shape of your existence. This is called the Patron Magic.

By using this, you can summon an animal spirit that will aid you in many things. The only limit is your imagination." After the professor explain this. Jack tried to keep his excitement.

'Maybe I can summon a dragon or a phoenix? Maybe the nine tailed fox? So much possibilities' He smirks with great anticipation.

"Summoning Technique!" Suddenly, Jack summon a great silver owl with red eyes full of wisdom. Every time he looks at his summon, there's somehow a tinge of longing. A connection that he doesn't understand yet.

He discover the usefulness of his summon. It can help in scouting since they share the vision. The owl also has night vision, farsight and expanded vision. Although his summon is not dragon, phoenix, or nine tailed fox, he is not disappointed, not in one bit.

"Such an exquisite animal. I can see that your spirit animal is very strong. The summoned owl has a fast fly speed and yet it still very quiet. Its presence is low so the spirit animal has an experience in hiding its presence. Young lad, does your spirit animal has a name?" The old man observes the performance of the silver owl and ask the young lad about its name.

"Of course it has a name, you can call her Pumpkin." The old man looks at Jack with a confused look. The color of owl is silver, the Pumpkin name will makes sense if the color of the spirit animal is orange.

"Don't look at me like that. Pumpkin suits her, and the name makes roll off the tongue better." With a satisfied look, Jack tries to defend his naming sense.

"I think this training is fruitful for you, but I think you're ready to go to Helheim." Jack somewhat sad and happy, takes his complement seriously. "But I must inform you that if you want to exit in the Underworld, you must first become a living being." Professor Musha said.

"Wait Professor Musha, becoming alive first in Underworld? How will I do that? Can I just exit in Limbo?" He asked the professor with the confuse look.

"If you just go out in Limbo while still a dead soul, you will just become a lingering dead soul in Midgard. Since you don't have a physical body, your soul won't last and it will disperse immediately. The worse part is you will not go back in Underworld. Meaning, your existence will be erased." The professor warned him not to try to go out without a physical body.

"Okay, so how am I going to become alive again inside in this god forsaking place?" He asked Professor Musha with a slight irritation since he thought that going out here is enough. And its possible that the process might take years to complete.

"You might think that its hard, but this is actually the easiest. The key in your predicament is in Helheim" He smiles to Jack with confidence.

"After you go to Helheim, you must go to the Fields of Elysium and look for Queen Persephone. She will help you in this problem." One of the most important question, how to become alive again, has been answered. He is now eager to meet this Queen Persephone.
