Chapter 58: Where Else Can I Put My Ring?

That day, when Ethan informed her about the collaboration between Hong Long Corporation and White Phoenix Empire, Yu Minglian had already harbored suspicions about the two Devil CEOs' relationship.

Never in a million years—no, not even if someone beat her to death—would she have guessed that those two were engaged!

Were they trying to hide their relationship by acting as rivals? If so, they had done a damn good job. Their performance could put even A-list actors to shame.

"Thank you for your hard work. You may be excused."

"Yes, sir. Please excuse me, Miss Bai." She bowed before leaving the two alone in the office.

As soon as Yu Minglian left, Lillie cast Ethan a brief glance. "You have a good subordinate."

Ethan didn't respond, unsure whether to agree or not.

"Would you like to tell me what happened in the Underworld now?" he asked, steering the conversation back to the matter at hand.

Lillie remained silent, her gaze fixed on the window, lost in thought.

"Are you sure you want to go back?"

Why ask when my answer is an obvious yes?

Now that he knew his wife was White Bird herself, there was no way he could sit idly by while she ruled the Underworld without extra protection—from him, the real Vermillion Dragon. The very thought of her bearing all that weight alone infuriated him. He wanted to find whoever had made her worry and stress and beat them into a bloody pulp before feeding them to Storm.

"Yes." His answer came without hesitation.

Without further delay, Lillie began recounting everything—from the moment he left to the day the imposter Vermillion Dragon seized power and began terrorizing everyone. She explained how the impostor had nearly claimed Hong Long as part of his empire, blackmailing all of the board members into handing over their shares.

Ethan listened in silence, unnervingly calm. The only thing betraying his fury was the dark malice simmering in his gaze.

How dare that bastard target his wife? How dare he make her work so hard just to protect him? He was supposed to protect her! Making him feel powerless, huh? Then don't blame him for being ruthless!

"In White Bird Organization… is there a position open for a former colleague?" If that position is in your heart, I wouldn't mind shamelessly taking it.

"Hmm… you can be my left-hand man," Lillie said after some thought. She had too many subordinates as it was—she barely knew where to place them all.

"Left hand?" Ethan echoed. "Who's your right hand?"

"That would be Elliot."

Pui pui! Elliot? More like Idiot! Why is it always him? Do you even see me as your husband, huh?! If people saw the three of us walking together, they might think you and he were the couple!

"Is there any other position available?" Ethan grumbled, engulfed in invisible flames of jealousy.

"Hm? What's wrong with that?" Lillie arched an eyebrow, puzzled.

"I'd rather be your right-hand man."

A twitch tugged at the corner of her lips.

"Aren't you my future husband? Where else would I place my ring if not on the left hand?"

Ethan's mood skyrocketed in an instant. His eyes lit up, wide and sparkling.

"I accept!"
