Origins

"Sam, please sit" Jana gestured to the seat in front of her. Sam hesitantly complied sitting. Jana was silent a moment more before she seemed to make up her mind as to if she wanted to proceed or not. "Sam, I'm going to be very frank with you, to be honest, I'm surprised you're even still alive much less here in this room. However, your explanations were true, what wasn't true however was your story about getting to that planet and getting the ship." A cold sweat started to form on Sam's head. "I let it slide because we confirmed you weren't with the republic, but that doesn't mean I don't want the truth. Now Sam, care to explain?

"I don't think you would believe me if I tried," Sam stated.

"I don't have to believe anything. The Vasian species can detect lies from other races excluding ourselves. As it is said in our ancient tongue; Lies are not absolute.' Jana spoke in Vasian, probably not expecting me to answer, although without thinking, I responded; Only words; in Vasian. In near milliseconds Jana had reached across the table putting him in a stranglehold, lifting him from the ground.

"WHO ARE YOU!" Jana screamed, her eyes afire with emotions, looking for the first time at the face of a very angry Vasian woman. Her sapphire eyes had slightly tinged red. Sam was completely taken off guard, using all his effort to squeeze out his name.

"I'..m... S...am!" Jana the dropped him to the floor, clearly confused.

"How is this possible?" She spun and pointed at him. "How do you speak Vasian? Answer in a way I don't like and I'll snap your neck." Sam tried to formulate several believable lies, although all would be seen through, he had no choice but, to tell the truth.

"I gained the ability. As for your previous question, a god sent me here." He paused for a moment to let this sink in. "This is the truth Jana, as outrageous as that seems."

Jana POV.

Jana was reeling, never in her years has she ever been so confused in her life. Her entire world view was crushed in that instant. Her attention then focused back to the word 'god'. Gods hadn't been believed in for thousands of years excluding her kind and some other races. The Vasian goddess, Uriel, was portrayed as a tall pale-skinned woman, with flowing silver hair, always wearing a white robe and three golden bracelets. Those bracelets represented her virtues. Justice, Courage, and Temperance. Was the 'god' he was speaking of her?

Sam stood in front of Jana eyeing her from time to time. Jana took a breath, "Sam, I need some time to... process this information, please... return to your room.

He nodded and left the room. Jana collapsed into her chair overwhelmed. At first, she was going to have him work for the shipyard even if he had refused to tell her his origins. But to hear all that... She needed more information. She needed to know more about him. According to his ship A.I, Amy, he recently inherited a planet in a nearby system. The next day she was going to try to negotiate some planetary resources from him. He has the entire system to himself, so there are plenty of opportunities for us.

Shaking her head, Jana decided to return to her quarters.

Sam POV

Returning from the conference room was disorienting. Sam had been questioned, and almost nearly choked to death. To be honest, Sam wasn't surprised, he would probably even bet he destroyed her entire world view. Sam stared around the room, looking for something to do. Sam didn't see anything except a bed, table, kitchen, and bathroom. He glared down at his wrist. 'Isn't this thing supposed to be a quest generator or something... jeez.
