The Mysterious Ranks

There was a lot of excitement in the whole room after what teacher Bao Tan did. They all loved the game and how it worked. It had been a while since they had been entertained, because they had been solving the boring test paper for the previous hour or so, and that wasn't any kind of refreshment for them. Teacher Bao Tan had to explain some other equipment, but the students were already overjoyed.

He showed the demonstration of all the other equipment, but they were nothing compared to what they had previously seen. There were other strategy planning devices, but they all had the same basic purpose, which was to sharpen one's brain, and to enhance one's ability to think of strategies.

Teacher Bao Tan had already finished all of his demonstrations, after which he addressed and explained the children about Mind Cultivators.

He said, "The kind of jobs that both the Body Cultivators do, and the Soul Cultivators do, are pretty much similar, and they are all jobs related to physical combat and fighting prowess, but that's not the same case for Mind Cultivators. Mind Cultivators have to do jobs like being a strategist, and helping planning out the strategy and the plan that the other two types of Cultivators would follow while on their adventures. The jobs of Mind Cultivators are mostly called relaxing, as they supposedly don't have any work, but that's wrong. The most important job that the Cultivators have to do is plan strategies beforehand. If there is a whole bunch of Body and Mind Cultivators, but they don't have any tactics or strategy planned out beforehand, they will most certainly be set to fall prey to smaller, but organized groups of enemies, or weaker, but organized groups of enemies. The most important thing is being organized. Just like a lion can be defeated by a pack of wild dogs, the same way a high-level Cultivator could also be totally trashed by a group of low-level Cultivators, if the high-level Cultivator doesn't have any appropriate strategy or tactics with him or her beforehand. The Mind Cultivators in this Academy follow a different form of administration from the general administration departments of the 4 Seasons Academy. The head of the Mind Cultivators division is under the Principal, the Vice-Principal, the Secluded Elders, and, the Grand Elder. He is called the Supreme Strategist. Under him are the five Grand Strategists, then the High Strategist, which is the real head of the department, and he or she controls and supervises the whole of the activities going on, around the whole Mind Cultivation department of the 4 Seasons Academy. Under the High Strategist are the various Upper Strategists, then, Middle Strategists, afterwards, Lower Strategists, and finally, Sub-Strategists. Sub-Strategists are actually a kind of internship volunteers. The students who are training directly under one of the officials, Upper Strategists onwards, will become Sub-Strategists. I am currently a Middle Strategist, and senior Jun Yao, over here, is the High Strategist of the Mind Cultivation department."

After hearing that teacher Jun Yao was at such an important position, the students were awestruck. They had never expected teacher Jun Yao to have such an honorable position at such a young age. Teacher Bao Tan was a humble person, but he din't brag about teacher Jun Yao. Any average person would brag if their senior was at such an honorable position, but teacher Bao Tan didn't have any intentions of bragging about this to the students at all.

After hearing all this, teacher Bao Tan told the students that they had learnt all that they could through his demonstrations, and that it was time for them to leave. After walking for a bit, the whole group had already reached where they previously were, the room in which they had met teacher Jun Yao for the first time. They had all been given a kind of a form which they had to fill out from their homes, after thinking for a while. It was a form about which kind of Cultivations they would want to choose if it was up to them, and why so, and all these kind of questions.

Vice-Principal Huan had taken the students back to the class, where they had to sit for a while, and then take all their stuff with them, to their respective homes. Tao Xue was in a bit of doubt about what the rankings were, which teacher Bao Tan had previously told them, and he ended up asking the question to the Vice-Principal, himself, then.

He said, "Vice-Principal, could you please explain me about the rankings that teacher Bao Tan had told us previously? I didn't understand which one of the rankings was the highestand which onewas the lowest. Please clarify."

Vice-Principal Huan was impressed that Tao Xue was asking questions about such minor things which most of the ordinary students didn't even pay attention to. He had a serious expression on his face, even though he was overjoyed on the inside. He said, "The ranking system for the ranks that teacher Bao Tan had previously mentioned, isn't very simple. The way the ranking are currently, there is no clear cut difference between the highest post and the lowest post. It is clear that Vice-Principal is lower than Principal, but for the other two ranks, it's not specified. The Grand Elder is an elder who heads all the elders, and is a very respectable figure in the society, as well as in the Academy. The Secluded Elders are the elders of the previous generation, which have trained the elders and other high-level figures of this generation, and are in secluded training, not showing any signs of coming out any soon. They are of very-high levels, and have got very high knowledge, but they don't appear in the outside world, therefore, they are one of the most unknown posts which hold great power. They are always in search for breakthroughs in their Cultivation, and seldom do they ever meet anyone, not even the Principal or the Grand Elder. As for the Principal and Vice-Principal, there is nothing to know about them, as they are the ones who often make public appearances, and are well-known, both all over the Academy, and all over the place thee Academy is from, because these famous figures are always known as the pillars and support of the Academy."

Tao Xue briefly understood what the Vice-Principal wanted to say, and thought to himself, "Okay, now's the time to go home!"
