You intrigue me

" It's you, isn't it?" Taf was in utter confusion after hearing her words.

He then uttered, "I haven't seen you in over a week, May. So anything that was done was not by me."

"Don't play dumb with me. You may be able to fool others, but I know you."

A stern face was shown as she looked back at Taf, who seemed genuinely confused.

"Sigh, did the doctors ask you to test some medication and say there might be side effects?

Please note to tick the box marked dazed and confused, as I do not know what you are on about."

Finally, it dawned on May that she was indeed vague with her words,

"You are that guy that is the talk of the town, aren't you? The one they call Sir Mouse,"

Taf chuckled, and May saw the change in his face.

"How can you be sure it is me?" A prompt response followed but in his head; he sighed while awaiting her reply.

"Many within the city share similar traits to your appearance. However, none could be so impeccable when it came to banter,"

May smiled as she found she had finally gained the upper hand on the youth before her.

Calmly Taf responded, "Well, it's not like it was the secret of the decade, as I never really kept it as so. Did I?" His words were seemingly successful as May became silenced. There they stood awkwardly staring at each other before the silence was broken,

" Will you walk with me to the park?" It was the last response Taf expected. Where was the witty remark he thought would hit him when least expected?

He replied; still, a bit caught off guard, "The park, sure I can. Is there an event happening there that I'm not aware of?" After which, he discarded the broom and dusted himself off.

Seeing his lost expressed, May responded, "There is no event happening; it's just a place I like to go on beautiful mornings such as this."

As she spoke, the cool morning breeze blew her hair, causing a hand to move them behind her ear,

"It's my place of bliss, so I thought you might like it as well."

Taf was slightly confused but did not utter a word. After which, without a word spoken, a boy and girl could be seen walking side by side in the street as they made their way to the park.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Entering the park, a slight breeze rustles the leaves, making them fall to the solid ground one by one. The air was warm, a perfect fit for the beams of sunlight that glowed on. Flowers were vast as they concealed the lush green grass with small animals running through its dewy freshness.

Little critters could be seen moving on the leaves and tunnelling through the tree branches as they hurried along. They sat on a chair and glimpsed at the quiet scenery before them.

Taf looked at the girl beside him, who had a tinge of charm as the rays of the morning sun graced her cheek, "Why did you invite me here?"

"Do you not like it?" May asked with a smile.

"Yeah, I do.

There is a sense of serene charm that usually is absent from the city that this park provides.

You still haven't answered the question, though."

Taf interjected once more as he saw a small cat scratching a post.

"This is my little world.

A part of my life that I did not disclose to you. Here I am at my happiest with the beauty of nature on display. I wanted to share it with you."

May looked at Taf with a smile that showed her small dimples.

"When I found out that you were the Mouse everyone was talking about, I was upset and didn't know why.

I realize I thought I had you all figured out, but there is a world you had that I wasn't aware of. So I thought I would tell you about my world, and you could tell me about yours."

Taf listened as May spoke of her thoughts without interrupting her. After a few moments, he finally decided to talk,

"That world is not one to be proud of, as it is filled with danger.

How could I disclose it to those that could be in harm's way if caught in the crossfire?" Taf now saw a disappointing look replacing the once beautiful dimples with his words.

"I just want to know," She replied with a slight whisper.

"Why?" He gently replied as he felt nailed to the spot for the first time in a long while for some strange reason.

"It's simple; you have always intrigued me,"

A blush could be seen as she tried to look away. "I intrigue you, huh?" A smile could be seen growing on Taf's cheek as he smugly glanced at the girl to his side.

"What are you smiling about, you brute? There is nothing to be smug about." The blush became even more apparent the more she tried to hide it.

"I thought you hated me, but now I find out I was ' Intriguing' all along," Taf did have a smug look as he saw an embarrassed May looking away.

" You can hate someone and be intrigued at the same point, dumbo" Besides, I never said I hated you anyway," The old May seemed to have snapped back in as she lashed out with her usual banter.

"There she is, the May I know."

He bounced his shoulder against May's, causing her to look him in his eyes, "Besides, you have always 'intrigued' me too."

May blushed as she heard his reply, but they both remained quiet, sitting on that bench looking at the birds chirping.
