(GMec) Character levels

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

Introduction

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

In these chapters, awkwardly prefixed with GMec (short for game mechanics), the author will be explaining some... well, game mechanics that were too dry to put in the actual chapter.

This serves two, no, three purposes. The first is to avoid slowing down the plot to a crawl to explain stuff. The second is to let you guys see organized and (hopefully) consistent game mechanics. The third is to avoid bloating the chapters with words and driving people crazy.

The first of this topic is about levels.

*** Disclaimer: ***

This novel is a work in progress. Everything you see here is subject to change. Especially if/when the author accidentally writes himself into a corner in the near future.

Overview of character levels

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

For most players, 350 is the limit of what they can achieve with a relatively "casual" play style, and it allows them to access most of the game's contents.

The absolute maximum level achievable, however, is 500 and demands the fulfillment of tons of difficult requirements. Achieving max level rewards players with bragging rights, as well as multiple bonuses for massive PvP battles and other endgame contents.

In fact, after 10 years (in the old timeline), there has never been a player reaching this maximum level. (Perhaps our MC will be the first? Who knows?)

Leveling benefits

- Rewards characters with attribute points

- Unlocks class skills

- Raises soft caps for Masteries and Spells

Character level caps

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

L3 liberally uses level caps in various points to artificially slow down players' leveling speed (yes, L3, not the author, obviously) and monitor the player population's progress. When characters hit a certain milestone, they will need to finish some sort of quest chain to be able to level up further.

Some of the caps:

- Level 25: Visit a large city for a "Class awakening" quest.

- Level 50: Pick a specialization

- Level 100: (Undisclosed to pique reader's curiosity, totally not because the author has not planned to this stage yet)

- Level 150: (...)

- Level 200: (...)

- Level 250: (...)

- Level 300: (...)

- Level 350: (...)

- Level 400: (...)

- Level 450: (...)

- Level 500: (...)

That's it for now. Thank you for reading.
