Monster

"Sooooo... Hi" Aiden said in a gravelly voice.

The girl looked at Aiden, surprised that a ghoul could talk. She gathered her courage and asked "What are you going to do to me?"

Aiden was grateful for finally being able to talk to someone. When he was imprisoned he was cautious and didn't speak since no other ghoul spoke to him even though he had tried talking to all the ghouls in his cage.

"I won't do anything to you. I just helped you didn't I? "

Having confirmed that the strange ghoul in front of her really could talk she started calming down.

"Will you let me go? " she asked

Aiden nodded his head. " You shcould probably start running after your parents. Though they did abandon you to save themselves."

Standing up, the girl started running after her parents. Aiden followed behind her stealthily.

The girl ran for a few minutes before she caught up with her parents. They almost attacked her thinking she was another zombie.

Aiden saw them interrogating her about how she escaped. She told them the truth but the father slapped her and said she was lying. He couldn't believe that there would be such a thing as a talking and friendly ghoul.

They argued a bit with the girl sticking to her story. The father eventually gave up on talking to his insane daughter. In his opinion she was obviously traumatized with the whole ordeal.

The family started of three started moving again. It seemed they were heading for the forest to the west of the sacked city.

When they entered the forest they started slowing down. The forest was strange. Aiden felt like the trees were watching him.

He could see that the family ahead of him felt the same.

The forest seemed to get darker and more quiet the deeper they went. The nobles started getting fidgety ahead of him. It seems they knew what made this forest so strange.

Before long an arrow was shot out from somewhere ahead of them and embedded itself in the ground in front of the father.

" Please help us! River city has been attacked by the dead. It was totally overrun." the father knelt and shouted into the forest.

A few moments went by before an elven man walked out from behind a tree. He had a bow in his hands with an arrow aimed at the family.

"Leave now humans. This forest is no place for your kind"

"Please, you must help us. If you send us back we will die. The undead could be right outside the forest."

The elf looked back into the ddarkness of the forest. After a few seconds he nodded and started walking towards the noble family.

"Follow me humans. I will lead you through the forest."

As the elf walked past the nobles and started leading them Aiden felt that something was watching him. Aiden decided that it was in his best interest to get out of the forest soon. He also started following the elf through the forest though he was much more careful than before.

The elves of the forest knew that aiden was there, they were observing his every move. If he made any threatening movements he would be killed. The only reason he was still alive was that the elves were curious as to why he hadn't killed the humans that he had been following.

After walking for an hour or so they had reached the edge of of the forest. The elf pointed data small village just outside the forest.

" Go to them. They will take you in. The undead won't reach you before the morning comes."

"Thank you." all three nobles said and started hurrying off towards the village.

The elf then disappeared into the forest.

Aiden felt that the presence watching him had disappeared.

He started moving towards the little village. When he reached the village Aiden started looking for something to eat. He had been chasing the nobles for the whole night and before that he had been without food for a day while marching towards River city.

Aiden found a chicken coopand ventured inside. He started devouring the chickens with abandon. Before he knew it he had devoured nearly 20 chickens.

Aiden was still hungry so he started looking for more livestock to eat.

While Aiden was busy devouring the villages livestock the noble family had been speaking to the village elders.

"We must flee to Highrock city in the morning. River city has fallen and the dead will control this area." said one of the elders.

The others nodded in agreement. If they wanted to live then fleeing to the fortress city of Highrock would be the only way.

As they finished the meeting all the elders started knocking on doors and waking up all the residents. Although the villagers were panicked they were all composed. They all knew that if they didn't leave they would die.

While the villagers we're packing everything they could Aiden was busy hiding from them, he guitlily hid in the on the rooves of houses as he observed the humans.

When morning came the villagers were already gone from their homes. Aiden took shelter from the sun in one of the houses and slept the day away.

When night came Aiden started tracking the villagers. Their trail was easy to follow since there were a hundred people walking the same way they left behind many sights of passing.

It took Aiden half a night of running to find their camp. Immediately he saw that they had posted guards though the guards had no real weapons.

After a few hour of observing Aiden saw cloaked figures sneak into the camp. Instinctively he knew they were vampires. Only vampires could use the darkness like they did to sneak into the camp. Before long Aiden hear screams coming from inside tents. The vampires started their attack on the humans.

They weren't taking prisoners at all. Killing everyone they saw. Aiden snuck into the camp to see if he could gain anything from eating human corpses. As he started consuming the corpses he started to feel warm. Somehow he felt stronger the more he ate. He didn't know if it was a delusion or not.

Aiden seemed to have a bottomless stomach. The more he ate the stronger he felt. While he was eating a lesser Vampire soldier saw him. The vampire was startled that a ghoul was so far away from River city. He decided to kill the stray ghoul and then report it to his superiors.

The vampire kicked at Aiden while he was lost in the taste of the corpse he was eating. Aiden was surprised when he went tumbling. Rage burned inside Aiden he looked towards the vampire and let out a guttural growl.

Aiden charged at the vampire. The vampire was surprised that the ghoul would attack him, he expected that it would cower in front of him or at least try to run away. The vampire pulled out it's sword and swiped it at Aiden. Aiden ducked underneath the swipe and lunged at the vampire knocking him over.

Aiden mounted the vampire and raked his claws over the vampires body. He bit at his enemies throat. Trying to tear it out before the vampire could call for help. He succeeded.

After a few more seconds of struggling the vampire was dead. And it turned to ash.

Having killed a vampire Aiden felt a surge of power. He felt pain all over his body as his limbs grew linger and more muscled. He grew spikes on his arms and on his back. His claws grew sharper. His senses also experienced an increase.

Aiden had evolved into an alghoul. Aiden wanted more. He had now had a taste if vampire flesh. He was strong enough now to kill lone lesser vampires. He started stalking the campsite again looking for more vamps to kill. Inside a tent he heard a shrill scream.

Inside the tent Aiden saw the corpose of the nobleman's wife and the nobleman himself hid behind his daughter trying to have the vampire in the tent kill her first.

The vampire laughed at the noblemans traitorous and cowardly behavior. First he had pushed his wife forward to obstruct him. Now he was hiding behind his own daughter to save himself.

The vampire pulled out a knife and threw it at the girl. It hit her in the stomach and she fell to the floor. The vampire then lunged at the man and tore his head off with his hands.

Aiden charged at the vampire while his back was still turned towards him. The vamp was caught of guard and fell to the floor with Aiden's jaws clamped around his neck. Aiden jerked his body and broke the vampires neck.

He then turned towards the girl who was bleeding out on the floor. He felt pity for her so he decided to give her a chance at life. He dragged the vampire over to her and tore open his neck with a claw. Afterwards he told tye girl. " If you want to live then drink his blood. You will bleed out and die if you don't. Just know that if the transformation succeeds then you will be a vampire. If it fails you will be like me. And if you are unlucky it will kill you. Though that might be a blessing to some."

The girl looked at Aiden. She then edged closer to the vampire and started licking up his blood. After she was done Aiden killed the vampire and it immediately turned to ash.
