CONGRATULATIONS

Silence ensued in the room and the air immediately turns heavy. Tension starts building as both brothers hold each other's stares, none of them have the intention of breaking it.

Su Bin searches for Amy's eyes, only to find his little cousin biting her nails, worriedly looking at Guan and Guan Qing. His head starts to ache at the mess brewing up.

Guan is still by the door, a few feet away from everyone. Blue veins start to pop out of Guan's clenched fists. He totally knew why his brother is acting this way. This is their first meeting after twelve years and this is the greeting that he gets. What a good brother.

His eyes avert from his brother to Min Chu – looking frail in the wheelchair.

"Well," Guan said as he managed a smile with difficulty, "isn't that a good thing? Congratulations…to the both of you," his eyes never leaving the woman.

As for Min Chu never once laid her eyes on Guan. He had not seen him in years, this is not the scene she had imagined. "Come on, let's go," she said to her husband.

"Excuse us." Guan Qing wheels Min Chu out of the room instead of the nurse.

Guan follows their every step as they passed by him.

All eyes are on him as the husband and wife finally left the room.

"It's nice to see you here, Guan," Doctor Niu takes the first step towards his nephew.

"Thank you, Second Uncle."

Guan makes a smile at the old man as he taps his shoulder. He finally walks his way in the room, stopping in front of the Amy, who is still anxiously biting her nail while looking at him with red eyes.

"It's not your fault, okay?"

Amy starts to sob and digs her face on Guan's chest.

"Aiyoo, my big baby is crying." Dr. Niu said, patting Amy's back.

"Hey, Brat! Stop crying, you're ugly," Guan ruffles her hair into a mess.

Su Bin joins in and ruffles her hair, making Amy mad as she stomps her feet in protest.

Not far away from them, Liu Yang silently watch them. She still did not recover from the intense exchange earlier between the President and his…brother? She had a vague idea that that man is the Vice President's brother.

Although the Niu family tree is known to the public, they are rarely seen in front of the camera, and their family affairs are always private; except for important life events, like the President and the Chief's wedding years ago. Most of their family members are only known in name.

According to some articles, the second son of the Niu family is studying abroad together with his cousin, and had not been back for years for some unknown reasons. There was no other information about him or what he looked like.

And now…

They are explicitly similar in every feature. The only difference is that, unlike the calm and gentle-looking Vice President, this man looks arrogant and unruly. But they were all just according to Liu Yang's perspectives.

Liu Yang tilts her head, as she dives deep in her thoughts.

"Ah, Editor Liu!"

She reverts to her senses when Dr. Niu calls out her name. She suddenly feels uneasy; all their eyes are on her – except for Amy who is still burying her face on Guan's chest.

"I'm sorry you have to witness all of that, Editor Liu" says Dr. Niu.

"Ah, no, it's fine, doctor."

Dr. Niu smiles but his face is still suggesting how sorry he is.

"Okay now, Princess, stop crying. Editor Liu has been waiting for you for a while now. Don't you know how busy she is?"

At the mention of Liu Yang's name, Amy breaks away from the embrace.

"Oh, Sister Yang, my bad." Amy said with her eyes still red, wiping her snot from the hanky given by her father.

Watching her being a mess, Liu Yang laughed, scrunching her nose unconsciously, "Come on, let's go have lunch."

"En." Amy went to Liu Yang's side, hooking her arm around her waist.

They bid their goodbyes to the men and left.

Even though Amy and Liu Yang are already gone, Guan's eyes never left the door.

'It was definitely her, there's no mistaking it. Editor, huh?'

Guan feels delighted inside at the information he just acquired.

"Hey, Guan," Su Bin waves his hand on his face. His face turns sullen, his cousin probably still feels about Guan Qing's words earlier.

"Are you okay? Don't take what Brother said to heart. You know how he is," Su Bin said leading Guan to a seat.

Guan just keeps quiet, not taking what he said into mind. He is thinking of something else.

Doctor Niu also follows his nephews on the leather couch, shaking his head.

"I should go," Guan suddenly blurts out.

"Huh? Won't you wait for the results?"

"And then what? Have another spat with my brother?"

Su Bin's shoulders drop. Why does it have to be this complicated?

"Settle down and talk it out with your Brother. Wait here, I'll tell them to bring some tea."

"No, it's fine, Second Uncle."

Doctor Niu is about to call his secretary but Guan's words stopped him from doing so.

"There is no point in talking it. I better be on my way. I'll get going then."

"Wait!"

Guan stops in his tracks after hearing Su Bin.

"I'll go with you because I'm a good cousin," he said, draping his arm around Guan while the latter gapes at him icily. But it does not intimidate Su Bin, not anymore.

On the couch, Doctor Niu just snickered, watching them leave.

"Second Uncle."

"What? What's wrong this time?"

Su Bin is ignored. Guan removes his arm around him and went back, stopping in front of his Uncle.

"W-what is it?" Looking up, Doctor Niu is terrified by Guan's face. He knows his nephew means no harm, that's just how he looks.

Guan opens his mouth but no words came out. Should he really be asking this to his Uncle? He peers at Dr. Niu and saw him looking back at him, patiently waiting for what he is about to say.

"Um, I…" he licks his lips before continuing, "…I just wanted to ask you about that woman earlier? You called her Editor a while ago."

"Eh?"

Dr. Niu thought for a while then, he breathes a sigh of relief and starts laughing. "Ahhh~ That's it? she is Amy's Editor. You know how she aspires to be a writer like your mother since she was little. Why are you asking?"

"Ah, nothing. I'm just," he paused, finding the right word to say, "you know, curious," he said with a gleam in his eyes.

Doctor Niu nods in agreement. "But I only knew her surname, though. Amy never told me her full name. I was even surprised how close they have gotten when she called her sister. Anyway, you can always ask Amy or better Min Chu, since she works at Yinyang Publishing."

"Will do. Thank you so much, Second Uncle."

Guan smiled at the thought of his uncle pouring out information he had not asked for.

"Of course. You know that you are my favorite nephew."

"Second Uncle, I'm hurt!" Su Bin, who had been silently listening to them, finally reacted with hands on his chest.

Doctor Niu cackles and assures Su Bin that he is also his favorite's nephew.

Guan thanked Doctor Niu once again and drags Su Bin out of the room.

In the elevator…

"Hey, why would ask about Amy's Editor, huh?" Su Bin asked.

"Nothing. I was just curious," Guan nonchalantly replies, leaning against the cold wall.

Su Bin did not buy his answer and narrows his eyes at him.

"You are planning something, aren't you?"

"Do I look that scheming to you?"

"Yes…or not." Su Bin retracts a step seeing Guan stare daggers at him.

Thankfully, they arrive at the parking lot. He heaves a sigh of relief and follows after him.

"She is not even your type. Or is she?"

They stopped in front of Guan's car.

"As far as I can remember, she never resembles Min Chu at all."

*bam!*

Guan violently slams his car door close at the mention of Min Chu's name.

"Hey! You are going to be the death of me!" Su Bin clenched his chest. He was alarmed by the sudden slamming of the car door.

Guan ignores his whining, instead, he leans on his car with hands on both pockets, looking at Su Bin with blank eyes.

"Check her background for me."

Su Bin fixes his suit, striding towards his cousin and leans beside him. "No way. You know that is illegal. Just ask Min Chu or Amy."

"You know I can't ask Min Chu; you already know our situation. And Amy, I don't trust that brat!"

"Dude, just simply ask her out. That is what a normal human being should do."

"I have to check her background first."

"No! End of story."

Their voices start bellowing in the closed space parking lot.

"I'll do it."

"What?"

"I'll take that position you wanted me, so lend me your help. You are good at it, that is why I'm asking you."

What?

Now, he is pulling some tricks to make him submit to this?

Su Bin could not hide his frustration.
