Chapter 1

Fracturing. A strange occurrence when a person splits into two people. Since the first recorded incident in 2027 it has been concluded that the cause of this occurrence is an emotional conflict in a person. As potentially a side effect of the fracturing, such individuals gain supernatural abilities. Since then there have been millions of recorded fractured duos throughout the world. Consequently, due to the nature fracturing, it was inevitable that there would be conflict between fractured duos. Soon after discovery the amount of collateral damage had grown out of proportion, and the general populace soon began to protest for the government to do something. This led to the creation of one of the world's most popular professions, mediators. Mediators specialize in diffusing conflict between fractured duos and restraining them should they get out of hand.

Countries around the world began to militarize these duos, and soon academies were constructed to regulate the fractured and their mediators. These academies train fractures in combat and help to monitor them for potential threats. One of such academies is Sanctum Academy, located in the Ruth Kingdom.

"So, you're a mediator in training?" the man sitting across the desk asked as he browsed over the profile in his hand.

"Yes" Aaron replied to the man as he fidgeted with his tie nervously.

"And why did you decide upon this profession."

The man glances up from his monitor at Aaron. Aaron takes a breath before answering his questions.

"My family got caught up in collateral from an out of control duo, they weren't badly hurt, but I'm worried about theirs and other citizens safety. This seemed like the job that would allow me to do the most about it."

"That's a pretty common story. Anyways, just to double check, you specialize in body reinforcement, correct?"

"Yes, I learned the basics at general, I hope to polish my skills in the academies specialized courses."

"Well, you definitely came to the right institution, the academy has done extensive research into magical systems. Though, I should warn you right now that a lot of it is classified, and some of it is potentially harmful, so work hard and be careful, 'kay?"

"Yes sir."

"Alright, looks like everything's in order, here's your room number, and this is the duo you have been assigned."

The man handed him a portfolio containing the relevant information. Aaron took the portfolio before making his way out of the office. As he wandered through the academy he read over the portfolio for the duo he would be accompanying.

"Their conflict is … female attire? One likes blazers and the other likes sailor uniforms? Well, the seriousness of the conflict isn't a factor."

Aaron closed the folder as he walked down the hallway. He sighed to himself as he loosened his tie.

"Well, as long as they don't try to kill me things should be fine."

As he walked around Aaron soon realized that he had bigger problems.

"What idiot designed this place?"

Aaron soon realized that the layout of the academy was so nonsensical and random that it could take days to get from one side to the other if one was unaccustomed to the layout.

"They should at least put up a map or something."

Aaron muttered to himself as he tried to find his way to the dorms.

By the time Aaron found his way to the dorms it was already late noon. Aaron was panting in front of his room. It had taken him nearly four hours to find his way through the school.

After Aaron straightened out his clothes and tie he unlocked the door and let himself inside. Aaron closed the door behind him and turned around to greet his new roommates.

"Hello I'm-"

However, before he could finish his sentence he was interrupted by a stray bolt of electricity that knocked him back.

"What kind of a fool are you? Obviously, blazers are the better uniform. The way the fabric accentuates the slender curves of the feminine physique is simply godly. That piece of trash is just draping a curtain over the beautiful potential beneath."

"Silence you prattling buffoon. Your tiny brain can't begin to comprehend the true nature of the sailor uniform. It is a sacred garment that accentuates the innocence of young maidens, unlike that vulgar excuse of a uniform that you are obsessed with."

"Ignorant plebeian!"

"Horny hound!"

"Oi!"

Aaron yelled to get the attention of the two arguing individuals, obviously the fractured duo he was assigned to watch over. The two looked over at Aaron, surprised to discover another human in the room. They both immediately apologized. Aaron sighed and scratched his head as he started worrying about how he was going to handle this duo.

"Hello, I'm Aaron, your new roommate and mediator, please try not to electrocute me."

""I'm Ian, nice to meet you.""

Both Ian's introduced themselves and than glared at the other. Aaron sighed and clapped to get their attention again. The two pouted and faced away from each other.

"So then, how am I going to tell the two of you apart?"

"How could you possibly mistake me for this mongrel who doesn't understand the greatness of blazers!"

The Ian on the left shouted while pointing at the other Ian.

"An ape who clings to such a vulgar garment could never understand the beauty of the sailor uniform."

"Can I just call you blazer, and you sailor?"

Aaron, at his wits end, pleads with the two. The two of them nod to Aaron before continuing to glare at each other. Aaron decides to leave the two alone for a while to go unpack his stuff.

Aaron flops down on his bed and takes a deep breath.

"Well, this is where it's decided. Things either go well or they go south."

He muttered to himself as he gets up to go deal with the racket in the common room.

"Well, things could be worse, they seem like decent people. But this is going to be really tiring."
