Backstabber

When Reuben left, Celia stayed at terrace. It was her favourite place at home. Whenever she gets upset, she simply went on terrace, close her eyes and try to feel everything that nature has to offer her. Rhythm of the breeze, chirping of birds and amidst it daily rush of human life. As usual, again she did the same. But her mind was somewhere else. She didn't realise it was getting dark. Maybe perhaps she was lost in her own darkness.

Her phone rang. It was from her Archy, her best friend. She saw the name, smiled to herself and picked up the phone.

Where the hell you are? Who do you think you are, han? You suppose to call me your best friend but didn't even care enough to tell me about whatever happened previous night. Thanks to Veronica, she told me everything - said Archy in one breath.

Fuck her - Celia again cursed Veronica under her breath.

I... I was about to... I just don't want any sympathy... You know... I am still trying to figure it out.... I am fine and I am not going to cry over it for years. The pain... It won't last long, you know na I'm strong enough to handle this - Celia said calmly

Archy - Look baby, you don't have to act strong all the time. It's okay to cry. It's okay let out the inner feelings sometimes. More suppress your feelings within yourself, more it will be hard for you to let go and move ahead.

I know - Celia said.

Just don't think that much. Leave the things behind and move on. We all are there for you and love you. Go eat something, I have talked to aunty and she said you haven't eaten something for whole day. For last time I am being nice to you, take care of yourself otherwise you better know who I am - said Archy

Yes, i know mam - Celia giggled.

Good, bye, take care - Archy said concernly

Bye - said Celia.

After their small chit chat, Celia smiled.

There are a lot of people who care about me. I have an awesome loving family, some cool and amazing friends, a roof over my head and I eat three times a day.

There is no reason for me to fuss over and get disheartened because of one incident. I have survived and I will survive again without losing myself - She recited the mantra over and over again in her mind. She was trying her best to just get over it.

Alas, her pain is more powerful than her will. More she thought more her heart sunk. She then again straightened herself and went for staircase.

And when she turn around to leave, somebody hit her head with a wooden rod. Her eyes widen in shock and disbelief written on her face because the attacker was no other than Mael Gourley - the man she loved!
