The morning mist had begun to subside and the sound of people quietly moving marked the start of another long day.
Everyone had to be careful, no loud sounds, no tracks, nothing left behind. If you brought it this far you would have to carry it until it was ok.
Each noise would startle everyone. Any noise could be him. We knew we could run for so long before we are caught. This thought only existed in the back of our minds. Each night we would have a carefully laid out plan to travel. What to do if we are separated and what to do should we be found. Just a few more days to hold on.
According to our map we should reach a great body of water. This place is sacred and only known to few. Once there we would be safe. Once there we will breath and know the salt in the air. Just a few more days and we will be free.
I watched in admiration as my father silently led everyone through the path. We looked at one in other and knew what to do. I stayed with a few others behind to hid our trail and keep a look out. Everyone had the same face as the days crept up. Once they held no hope but with the thought that we were almost there everyone became optimistic. My father feared this would lead to carelessness and didn't want to disclose it to others. This is why I work to cover our trail. I will make sure not to be found.
Each morning I see more of a smile on others and feel the fear in my Father's eyes. Just one careless mistake and we all die. I can't stop things from happening but I can feel it each day. I smell the salt in the air but I don't feel the safety the others feel.
Hidden away a temple build in the crevices of a cliff. Only those that knew what to do went inside. Everyone else was instructed to stay close, keep a look out and scavenge for some food.
3 Large ships slowly came out from the temple. their craftsmanship was detailed along the rails and the head of the ship. That's when the long silence was broken. Everyone began to cheer and grab what they could to board the ships.
Without warning a speeding ball of fire landed on the ships and exploded upon impact. Everything flew in every direction. The ringing in our ears didn't let up as the figure from our nightmares emerged from the trees. He led his men as he attached everyone.
I was cast into the water without hesitation. I saw as a man held me down no matter how hard I struggled. I reached for my knife and cut his arms. I got up and tried to run away. It didn't take him ling to catch up. Death was in the air. I saw where the temple was and prayed that the Gods would save me. Even if it was a moment longer. I felt as he grabbed me and watch as his face became confused. The water around me was wrapping itself around me. Everything went dark and nothing was in site.
I could hear nothing. See nothing. Feel nothing....
As if I opened my eyes slowly a light came into view and slowly the world came back to my senses.
...Loren...
Today was finally here. The ceremony was over and pictures had begun. I posed holding my diploma with all my friends. A few of them got accepted to the college I was going to. College C, best place for mathematics and science. I know chemistry may not be the most exciting thing out there to some; but when you know what your doing there will an interesting reaction. Some don't know but rocket fuel is a chemical reaction to liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen. They have a rather explosive reaction. I'm probably not going to made a large finding like that but I do want to add to what is known about atom reactions.
I turn to face a new camera excited to start a new Chapter in my life. This is where a childhood ends and a bright future begins.
