The day VRMMOs came out, the entire world celebrated, for it had been 10 long years of research. It was also the day that changed my life, not in a good way at first. My name is Axel Olson. I'm five foot ten, have pitch black hair and sea green eyes, and I love to game. You could also consider me as goodish looking. I've been into games ever since I was seven; I'm 17 now and in grade twelve. I had pre-ordered the VRMMO gear and the game 'Powers Clash' back when I was in grade six. The game is probably at my house right now, but first, school.
"Axel? Are you paying attention?" asked my teacher, Mr. Steve.
"O-oh, um yes I am," I stuttered as I was forced into reality. Some of the students snickered and others muttered to their friends, most likely spreading rumors , as this wasn't the first time I had stuttered. Suddenly the bell rang and I rushed out of class, but on the way out a foot tripped me and I sprawled onto the floor. The local bully, Ray Allen, who had been bullying me for the past three years, walked up to me, along with his gang.
"Look, it's s-stutter!" sneered Ray.
"Don't call me that or else," I warned.
"Oh y-yeah? W-what are y-you going to d-do?"
I looked into his eye and shoved him. He retaliated by punching me across the face. I stood there in shock. I had never been punched before. I could feel my eye and lip starting to swell. With my luck, a teacher walked out into the hall and saw me try to hit him back.
"What do you think is going on here?" the teacher angrily asked.
Right off the bat, like it was a race, Ray said, "Axel just started to shove me and then he tried to hit me!"
"He should be an actor, with the way he can lie..." I say under my breath.
"Alright, Mr. Olson, how about you go to the principal's office?" I tried to protest but the teacher wasn't having it. I had to wait five minutes for the principal to see me.
"Now, Mr. Olson. I hear that you attacked a student today?" the principal asked. "Why would you do that?" I didn't reply as I was too pissed off at this fat bastard to give him the luxury of my time.
"Alright, since you aren't complying with my request, I suppose that I have to suspend you for three school days." That was the final straw.
"Can't you see my black eye and cut lip? Or is that invisible to you?" I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm.
"With that tone now you are suspended for five days!" His voice booming like a thunderstorm. I walked out of the office without responding.
"You can call your mom to come and pick you up," the secretary announced. I just nodded. Pulling my phone out of my pocket, I went to recent calls and clicked my moms contact.
"Hello?" A voice said.
"Hey mom." I replied.
"Axel, shouldn't you be in class right now? Why are you calling me?" I explained what happened and asked for a ride home. A few minutes later I was in the car. My mom just glanced at me, too angry to speak. Staring out of the window, all I could think about was how much I wished that my personality would change, so that I could become more popular. When I arrived home, I rushed up to my room and started setting up the hardware. Pulling the disk out of the package, I plugged in the disk thinking, 'why be in this crap of a world when you can be in another one.' Then yanking the helmet over my head I spoke one word, "Spark".
