Chapter 8 : Rare Boss

"Have you all increased in level?" I asked.

"We all advanced around 8 levels or so." MP stated.

"Since my memory is terrible, could you all tell me your levels" I asked.

"I'm now level 28." Tempest replied.

"Level 27" Vortex mumbled.

"Level 30!" MP said, "I'm almost at your level, so watch out!"

"I advanced to level 30 too." Astral said.

"Wow, you all advanced pretty fast." I said, "how much time until the next boss spawns?"

"30 seconds. I saw a bright flash, mind explaining that to us?" Tempest asked.

"Well, I was trying to imbue my kat-" I started but then a burst of red and the cat wolf spawned.

"What? It spawned 20 seconds too soon!" MP shouted. I leaped into action, drawing my katana and raced in. Slashing it across the stomach then turning to face it only to find it defeated.

"Did I just one shot it?" I said in surprise when a notification popped up.

/ The light part imbued into the katana now allows you to do an extra 500 damage to living creatures on the first strike. RARE ABILITY/

Damn! Falling to my knees at the sight of the amount of extra damage. My katana is now SO OP. I could pretty much one shot anything in in this area. Best not to cut anybody with this. Walking back over to my still gaping friends, Tempest yelled,

"HOW IN GOD'S NAME DID YOU ONE SHOT THAT. IT HAD 500 HEALTH." Showing him my katana, still sheathed, he started to freak out.

"Is it just me or does this game want you to be OP!? Because you can do 500 damage on only a cut, that's absurd bro! Why can't that happen to me?" We must have been standing in a special area or formation, because the ground started to shake and another notification popped up.

/ EVENT TRIGGERED - Find a way to defeat the Borsat. Reward is special item for the final kill, loot and a Rare item /

We all stared dumbfounded.

"Um, what just happened?" I asked, "and what exactly is a Borsat?" No one knew. We walked to the edge of the clearing but then flew backwards as we walked into a barrier.

"Why can't we leave? Maybe we can't because of the event. Oh we are so screwed." Astral muttered to himself. A timer popped up from the ground counting down from 5, 4, 3, 2, 1; Not even allowing us time to process what was happening. The ground rumbled and then exploded upward throwing us backwards. A big mole with boar tusks and armadillo armor appeared when the smoke had cleared. I noticed that the Borsat's eyes were nonexistent.

"And I stand correct, we are so very screwed." Astral sighed. The Borsat had over 5000 health, ten times the amount that the cat/dog had.So it seems that I'll only need to cut it ten times to be able to kill it. Boy was I wrong. Running under the belly, I slashed it. I turned to look at the amount of damage I had done - expecting 500 points to have subtracted. Only 100 damage. Glancing at my sword I saw that the 500 damage only applied to living things and the first strike meaning that the monster in front of us was not alive. This was troublesome. Cursing under my breath, I quickly summoned a bolt of lightning thrusting it into its face. 50 damage. Trying my dark orb spell, I thrust it into its face just like the lightning bolt. You would expect that a darkness spell wouldn't be effective on the monster, and you would be correct. 30 damage.

"Ok, so my spells don't seem to do anything to it." I yelled over to my team.

"I may have an idea! I've been wondering if it will work while you distracted it. I may be able, since I'm a necromancer and all, to trap it into one of my summon bars. This method allows me to be able to defeat it and still get the loot at the same time." Vortex shouted, "I'll need you to keep it distracted while I charge up the spell."

"Well here goes nothing!" Tempest yelled as he rushed forward.

"Likewise!" Astral shouted as he followed Tempest. MP didn't yell or anything and just rushed in, his sword unsheathed. Shrugging, I followed suit.

"Let's attack it from all sides!" MP ordered. I rushed to the front of the monster because it was the only spot left. Lucky bastards, leaving me with the head. Using my sword, I went in and got one slash in before leaping backwards to avoid a flailing tusk. Thank god for my speed, but how is this thing so fast for its size?

"HOW MUCH LONGER?!" Astral yelled.

"Maybe five more minutes?" Vortex responded.

"I DON'T KNOW IF I'LL LAST THAT LONG!" Astral shouted back. Glancing at Astral, I saw him get sent flying from a swipe of the beast's tail and slammed into a tree that cracked at the force.

"Astral! Are you alright!" I shouted over. Starting to panic I yelled over to MP.

"MP, c-could you go and see if he's alright! I'll distract it for you." He didn't reply but rushed over to check.

"Time for you and I to dance my big dude." I said sounding awfully more confident than I was. Right as I was about to rush at 'The big dude', Vortex yelled out that he'd finished preparing and began to cast the spell. A harsh purple and black light surrounded the event boss causing it to shriek in pain. It looked like the flame roasted the monster from the inside out, glancing at the hp I saw that it was below 10 percent. YES! This attack might finish it. Not my luck. The bar stopped draining once it reached 500 health. Looking back I saw Vortex collapse to the ground with one percent health remaining. That attack must have drained his MANA and his health. Lunging at the monster, I slashed. 400. Another, and another, and another! Doing four precise slashes in a row got its health down to 100. Running forward to strike it down, the monster reared up and slammed down, causing the ground to explode upward. Using the rubble that flew up into the sky, I leaped from stone to stone and sank my sword into its eye with almost no resistance. The monster evaporated on the spot leaving me at 5 percent health. A couple dozen notifications popped into existence. Before we started to look at the items we got, we all rested to catch our breath and health. Once we were done, I took out the items that I received into my inventory. The boss dropped some amazing loot. First was a sword with a crazy bonus. Next there was a magic staff, a robe, and an amazing ring.

/ Mole/boar sword

Gives the persons wielding it a strength boost of +20 and a +20 boost to endurance. /

/ Mole/boar staff

+300 MANA regeneration per minute and +10 strength /

/ Mole/boar skin robe

+30 speed and + 10 strength /

/ Special ring drop

Gives you a +50 strength and a +15 speed boost /

There were only four drops and we had five people.

"I don't need an item because I have my sword." I said even though I really wanted that ring and robe. As if they were waiting for my order, they started to bicker about who gets what. I walked away a bit and pulled out the item I had kept to myself.

/ Mole/boar boots

Gives the player wearing these a +50 speed boost /

I pulled up my stat screen wanting to see if there had been much of an increase of my level.

Not believing my level, I closed it and reopened it. There was no change. I now had 100 stat points to spend. Still in awe, I decided to spend 50 stat points in speed because why the hell not? The other fifty I would spread between strength and endurance. Looking over my new stats, I was pretty damn happy. Glancing at one of the notifications that hadn't disappeared for a while now, I saw that it was one of the types that you had to claim in order to get the reward. Am I still not done yet? The reward was for getting the final hit in. It boosted me another ten levels. Holy hell, now this is power leveling! Spending 15 on strength, 15 on endurance, and 10 on speed, that left me with 10 points to spend on another aspect. May as well spend them on power just to see what happens.
