Inner disciple

The next test could only be considered a joke since only three people were even close to nicks cultivation tier and none of them were willing to fight him even if it was only a spar. nick couldn't blame them since he was aware of how monstrous just the small amount they saw was. besides nick being crowned the top ranker early the rest of the exam proceeded normally. nick watched the rest of the participants from the sidelines while chatting with omen and a few of his fellow elders. the most interesting person to watch was the little boy who now had a small set of feathered wings and three horn nubs on his brow. the boy had trouble adjusting to his new level of strength which led to his opponents getting a little brutalized. no one was crippled thanks to the referee stopping the boy in time but that didn't make the other participants any less injured just not dead or crippled. this lasted until the boy was placed against someone with a higher cultivation tier where he finally got an opponent that let him fully adapt to his new strength even if he lost due to his inexperience.

Nick and three others were placed in the inner sect after the exams while the rest who qualified went into the outer sect. that is not to say that there weren't differences in treatment based on the rankings since this was very much wrong. in fact nick as the winner of the first place got an entire mountain on one of the sects more prosperous worlds all to himself. the rest of the privileges the others high rankers got were a good bit below that with a few months of free techniques in the learning pavilion and their pick of elders who were interested in taking them as students. nick also got these benefits but he politely declined most of them as they were pointless for him. if you were wondering how the sect worked on different worlds so well then the answer to that was that there was a main world that had all the sects important facilities on it. mind you this included the entire world which was separated into sections with their own purposes. the hierarchy for the sect worked the same as in most other novels just that the different levels had different responsibilities depending on the average competency for that level in the sect. with all of these people working efficiently the sect functioned smoothly and troublemakers were dealt with harshly.
