Hirohi, Our Child

7 years later...

"Hirohi's starting to walk, dear!" I exclaimed in excitement towards my husband, Rick.

"He's a quick learner" Rick replied.

That's right, Hirohi is our child. We got married when I was 22 and Rick was 25. It's been a year after our marriage and we got Hirohi during late December last year. Also, we bought a house along the beachside, the view's gorgeous while the sun sets.

For the rest of my brothers, Freoli got married and had a baby girl named, Tina and has his own home. Adrian still isn't married and remained as a pervert. Later on, I found out that Zack, Mark, and Hikup were triplets. The trio were all married with a kid. Uko, isnt married but he owns his own successful restaurant and has a girlfriend. Dickson is working as an actor, he's got an acceptable salary and plans on buying his own mansion, not married or in a relationship. Jarel and Saqi became game creators, they are currently making one now. Gabriel is working as an architect and has a girlfriend. Damien is now in University while Wello got into college.

We are all planning to meet up this Sunday which is in two days time. I'm going to bake a cake tomorrow for everyone.

"Come here, Hirohi, it's bed time" Rick said.

"I'll prepare the pillows dear" I replied.

"Sure honey"

The next day...

"*yawn* Dear, I'm going to shower and head out to buy cake ingredients. Take care of Hirohi will ya?"

"Sure, hun"

After a nice warm shower, I got changed and went out to Wallmart. I grabbed a shopping cart and started walking around looking for flour, eggs, food colouring, vanilla abstract, sugar, and all the other things needed for a cake.

"Oh, I need candles too"

I reached out to grab the packet of candles but someone called out for me. I tilted my head to the right and realised that it was Adrian.

"Hey, Chloe, how are you?" Adrian asked.

"Adrian! I'm doing fine! You?" I asked.

"Doing good! Anyway, listen... I have been holding the guilt of pushing you against the wall when you were younger. I know it's a late apology but I'm really really sorry"

"It's ok, I don't dwell on the past anymore"

"Chloe, you're strong!"

I smiled and paid my things before we left each other.

I got back home and placed the ingredients, lined up on the kitchen counter.

"Yosh, baking time!" I tied a handkerchief around my forehead and wore an apron. "Just a little bit more of mixing and the batter will be done. *mixes* There!"

I poured the batter in a pan that I had buttered in advance. The batter was the perfect consistency, and I slotted it in the oven. I set the timer to 45 mins and washed my plates, I sat back and waited.

An hour passed by...

"Flowers... cupcakes... *mumbles*" I sleeptalked. *Wakes up* "Huh?! That smell, my cake!"

I got up and ran in my kitchen, grabbed two cloths and pulled out my cake. The top of it was brown and black. I pulled out the cake by pulling the baking sheet and flipped the cake on the cake holder. I was so sad and annoyed at myself for sleeping through. I took a plastic bag and threw the cake inside, tied it up and threw it in the garbage bin.

"I hate oversleeping on things" I went in my room where my husband, Rick and my baby, Hirohi was asleep together.

I threw myself on the bed and thought about everything that had happened. "Depressed... depressed... depressed..." I thought. After awhile of repeatedly thinking of the same word, I got to a decision of baking another cake and got up.

I made a beeline to Wallmart and bought the same items again. I got home and made perfect measurements of the ingredients and mixing thoroughly this time. Yeah... I lazily made the other cake earlier so it deserved to get burnt. Anyway I set the timer to 45 mins and sat on the couch, put my headset on and turned on music.

45 minutes later...

The bell rung. I stood up and got the two thick cloth and pulled the cake out. As I pulled it out, I looked at the surface of the cake, it was golden brown, moist and most importantly, it smelled great! I grabbed the frosting and frosted the entire cake with pink, white, and blue. I finally finished off the cake with a "Happy Family Gathering Day!" I washed the dishes, took my handkerchief and apron off, and went to bed.

The next day went by smoothly, we all spent time together just like what we did when we were younger. I wished days like this could come back but we have all moved on. I got a family and the others might be busy with their own family and work, so these days will have to remain as memories. Sayonara... 😊
