It still feels like a dream, like I'm floating on clouds. I touch my cheek, just to make sure I'm alive, to ground myself in reality. This man has completely captivated me. My fingers gently trace the ring on my left hand, its presence a constant reminder of what we've just promised each other.
It's really real, I whisper to myself, still lost in my thoughts. The ring catches the light, and I can't help but smile, still overwhelmed by it all. Then, my phone rings. I glance at the screen, seeing his name—Shola—boldly written. That's strange. His name has never been in bold before. Is this just my imagination, playing tricks on me?
I smile to myself, accepting the call and putting it on speaker.
"Hello," I say, my voice soft.
"Hello, Miss… Oh, I mean, hello, Mrs. Soon-to-be-Williams," I hear him say, his voice full of teasing. I can almost feel his grin through the phone.
If smiles could kill, I would be dead by now.
"Hello, hubby-to-be," I respond, my heart racing with excitement.
"You could have just come to check in, instead of calling me 'Mister,'" he says. "And besides, you're just two suites away from me… oh, I know."
I raise an eyebrow, my curiosity piqued. "You know?"
"Yes," he says confidently. "I'm at your door. Can you open it?"
I grin from ear to ear, unable to hide the joy bubbling inside me. Holding the phone close, I drag myself from the bed and walk to the door. I open it to find him standing there, in just his trousers and no shirt.
My eyes almost burn at the sight, but I quickly pull him inside. "Are you crazy?" I ask, half-laughing, half-shocked. "Why are you walking almost naked in a hotel?"
He chuckles, his gaze playful. "Well, you said we were just two doors away, meaning you were alone. And I couldn't wait any longer."
He walks toward the bed, then turns back, catching my gaze. I'm momentarily speechless, caught off guard by his confidence and the electricity between us.
This man is driving me crazy.
I had agreed to stay in separate suites, trying to respect the fact that our parents were around. But after the dramatic events at the airport, the excitement and energy had everyone in high spirits. Some of his friends had dragged him away, getting him drunk while I stayed to make sure both our families were comfortable. Exhausted from the chaos, I booked myself a room to rest. To get back at him, I registered a separate room for him, just to keep him on his toes.
And now, standing here in front of me, he's more irresistible than ever.
