Chapter 10: Dancing in the Dark

As they descend into the dark metro station John was cautions when going through the dark even though he had his night vision goggles which allowed him to see practical everything like if it was daylight, there were still rays of sunlight that blinded him from see past them into the darkness like trying to see through a smoke screen. I looked back to the rest of the members of the team and found that they were using some chem lights and flashlights on their weapons to see besides Lyons, Vargas and Colvin using their helmet lights to shine light on wherever they look it wasn't to surprising but I thought they to would have some nvg's considering the brotherhood hoard over some advanced technology. As we proceeded towards the middle of the hall we noticed the entrance to the subway tunnel is collapsed so we had to move into the service tunnels to go around the blocked path. As we neared the exit of the service tunnels after an hour we managed to find the right tunnel leading to Chevy Chase station as we walked I noticed multiple skeletons along connected tunnels it looked like they were trapped under here from when the bombs fell or some unlucky wastelander's that came through here.

After some time we were going through more service tunnels in order to get back on the right trails after getting lost a few times by the time we came up on what seems to be our last stop to go to the station, that when I heard a low deep voice coming from the tunnel lead to the station, "Stupid radroach I'm superior you follow me, no you're stupid I'm smartest of all mutants." After watching the super mutant I realized that I might get a brain tumor just by listening to that conversation, so I looked at Sarah and the rest and then back at the super mutant that's when Sarah asked what I saw I replied, "Just something that I'll probably never seeing again." That left her puzzled, as she looked around the corner and saw she then knew exactly what I meant by the saying.

She then turned to Vargas, " Vargas can you take him?", Vargas looked at Sarah while bringing out a kuraki, "I can take easley just watch my back Sentinel." As he stepped away from the group, he made his way up to the super mutant under the cover of darkness slowly as to not make the metal of his armour scrap across the wall as he hugged it. As he got close the radroach noticed the intruder and made the super mutant look right towards Vargas making him lose the element of surprise, when the super mutant saw him he roared with anger and charged at Vargas with a club. Vargas smiled thinking this was a easy kill on a dangerous enemy as he dodges the swing for his head he tried to hit him in the left side of the mutant, but was blocked by the club at the same moment the super mutant slammed his foot into the side of Vargas throwing him in the wall next to them I was surprised by the strength of the super mutant that he could hit a fully manned person in a suit of power armor and knocking him out.

The super mutant saw he wasn't moving so when he saw this he went in to finish off Vargas. When I saw this and I dropped my rifle and rushed to Vargas and at that moment I heard Sarah and rest say something but ignored it for now, slid behind the super mutant with my knife at the ready and cut leg trying to catch his attention off of the unconscious Vargas. The super mutant roared in pain and yelled, "Puny humans to weak, you skull man I'll crush under my boot!!!" I smiled as he yelled knowing how careless he'll get while trying to swat me with club but I moved faster with more precise considering I was a lot lighter than him but he had more power so It wasn't going to be easy on me.

I activated the [Ghost] skill knowledge filled my brain with the skill I felt more lighter than I was and knew how to take this big bastard down. I moved in just as he when to swing and drove my knife through his knee slicing his tendons knocking him down, he sat on his damaged knee and while swinging and making looking around for me while I slipped under his view I picked up Vargas fallen kuraki and plunged it deep under the rib cage puncturing the heart and then rapidly pulling and twisting slicing the head clean off. As I stand back taking in deep ragged breaths Sarah and the team came up behind me after seeing the short but bloody kill Sarah asked if I was ok and I nodded as my response that I was ok. Reddin ran over to the wearying Vargas checking his head for any signs of bleeding, which he responded by looking at the super mutant head detached from its body then looking at me in surprise.

After an hour of resting by the stares leading up to the entrance Sarah walked over to me to check up on me, "John what was that back there you took that super mutant by just using your knife and the skills back there were some I've never seen before, just where did you learn all of that?" when she asked that I simply told her a small lie without later her know about System , "The Vault train's there security officer's to take out large hostiles buy setting up large android trainers that are two times stronger and faster than a normal man, so we had to adapt to defended or attack larger opponents." When I said this she looked surprised about the training I went through but intrigued all the same. Then as she was satisfied with my answer she looked at her team which was up and ready then she looked at and which I nodded, then when we were about to go up the stairs I forgot my rifle back in the hallway, as I turned Reddin's hands my my rifle with a surprise look on my face she said, "you shouldn't forget the thing that'll save you're life." As she said that while shaking her head with a smile, we went out of the metro to continue on to GNR.

When we all gotten out Jennings looked up and said, "Today is a great day to be alive isn't Captain?" As he finished Colvin was going to say something until a shot ringed out of nowhere and and everyone ducked. As I looked over to Jennings and at that moment everything was like going in slow motion while bullets were slammed through Jennings vest like a pencil being punshed through paper making him drop on ground bleeding from his chest through his back making him choke on his blood then a new hell followed.
