CHAPTER 115: WHY DID SHE CARE SO MUCH?

"I came to help. Mikhail said I could," she told Jarek who was scowling at her.

"She's a girl," Jarek stated darkly. "She'll get in the way. She'll get hurt."

"Just tell me what to do. I can handle myself. And back off, buddy. I've worked construction before. How do you think I got my first business suit for a job interview?"

Fadey let out a whoop that ended in roaring laughter. Mikhail turned quickly, but she thought she saw him grin at Jarek, who was still scowling. He looked down, then up her taut body. "You could sweep and clean up, I guess. The shop vacuum is over there. Just stay out of the way. If you get hurt, we'll have to wait on you and you'll cost us time."

Leigh grabbed the nearest broom and started sweeping furiously. She wasn't leaving because of Jarek's taunts. She didn't understand his boyish grin at Mikhail and Fadey, or his chuckle.
