Marrying Him

Two more years passed by, and Kyle had invited me out to an extremely fancy restaurant to talk. All my friends were ecstatic for me, but I didn't think what they imagined would happen, would actually happen. They thought this was something romantic. I knew there was more to it. the worry on his face may have been hidden from everyone else but I could see it. He as scared to tell me something important. I sat down across from him, the food already waiting. "So what's up?" I asked as I picked up my chopsticks acting as lighthearted as I could. "I came across another girl with a sign. Her sign said 'cheating material' though I don't think she thought I had a sign." Kyles rambled. "And?" I asked, setting down my chopsticks so I could listen seriously. I could tell he had struggled with himself to tell me, and I wouldn't let his effort be in vain.

"I just wanted to let you know, I don't want any secrets like the between us." He says, looking me in the eyes. His eyes were shaking with his nerves. I smiled softly. "Thank you. I trust you, and I appreciate you trust me enough to tell me."

Kyle looked at my sign while I return to eating. "Dang it, the sign beat me to it again." Kyle said, and I looked up. "What, did it change to something else again-" The sign glowed softly, flickering like it was ready to vanish. "I'll ask you after we eat." I nodded dumbly. My friends were right. that was actually going to happen. I ate the meal in front of me timidly, glancing at the sign beside Kyle occasionally. "Husband material."

After we ate and paid the bill, he holds out a moebius ring, studded with five tiny jewels. "Annie, I love you more than life itself. Will you be marry me?" He kneeled, taking a deep breath as he asked. I nodded my head softly, with the widest smile I had ever smiled. It hurt to grin, thats how wide my smile was. He let his breath out all at once. "I'm glad this all turned out the way I hoped it would." He said as he helped me put the ring on my third finger.

The last day we saw the signs was our wedding day, when we kissed they changed once more before they vanished. Kyle leaned in close, and whispered in my ear. "The One." I nodded as the signs fade. They guided us together, before vanishing into nowhere. "I'm so glad I met you. I love you." I whispered. He kissed me on my forehead. "I love you too…"

I smiled mischievously. "I bought an apartment for two." I moved in closer. "It's all ready for the first night." He blushed all the way to his ears. "You little rascal." He whispered right back, biting my ear softly before going to thank the guests for attending the wedding. I held my ear and blushed. Then I smiled as my bridesmaids came over. My best friend burst into tears as she leaped at me with a hug. "Oh Annie, we're so happy for you…"

"And that's the story of how I met your father." "I still don't believe it after all these years. Destiny just fell into your lap." "Destiny? Oh no, Destiny isn't what makes your soulmate appear. 'The One' is just a title for the person you choose to spend the rest of your life with, not for the one person who is miraculously your other half. You have to make yourself into their other half, and if they do the same, only then are you soulmates." I told my daughter gently. "Fate is what you make it after all." I finish with a smile.
