Duchess Of Blacklake

Eden groaned as he watched as his cousins and his sister stopped at the fifth shop since their outing. He let out a long sigh which caught both of their attention. They looked at him oddly as he frowned. "If you guys just wanna buy something then just do it already."

"But Eden. I'm leaving in two days. The movers are coming tomorrow to pack up all my dresses and things." Abidemi said with a pout.

"And I have more than enough dresses that I haven't even worn yet." Daisy said while putting her hand on her face.

Eden blankly stared at the two as he shook his head. He wanted to ask but decided against it. Asking will just give him a headache anyway. Abidemi and Daisy giggled as they watched Eden walk ahead of them.

Daisy sighed as she looked at Eden's back. Both women followed after the annoyed young man with small smiles. "So the movers are coming tomorrow."

Abidemi sighed and nodded her head as she watched Eden as well. "Fear so. Shyla and Kanene had already picked out all of my clothes for the trip. After tomorrow the both of them decided to shop all day for my favorite treats."

"All of them?" Daisy said with a giggle. Abidemi only sighed as she nodded her head. " Such loyal maids. They really do love you, Demi."

Abidemi laughed as her eyes lowered. "I got lucky with them. I'm sure any maid will give up on a lady like me. Heck, I got lucky with everyone in the Sunflower Mansion." Daisy frowned slightly at Abidemi. She wanted to say something but Abidemi beat her to it. The other girl looked at Daisy with big blue eyes which made the blond girl smile."I heard from Father that you're taking some of them in."

" Of course. When I told my mother that you were leaving she jumped at the chance. Some of them make the most amazing cakes and she heard that they were very loyal to you." Daisy said with a warm smile.

Abidemi smiled. "Thank you again."

Daisy giggled and took Abidemi's hand. "Oh Demi. You don't need to thank me. I would do anything for you." Abidemi smiled warmly before looking back at Eden. "I also heard that Logan has been coming over Sealen Estate for the last couple of days." Daisy watched as Abidemi wilted. "That bad?"

"Two days in a row, Daisy. Two days. I didn't think he would react that way to me leaving. I thought he would be happy." Abidemi said with a deep frown. "First he came into my home demanding my intentions. The second time he burst in despite the fact I told him I didn't want to see him. Then at dinner, he was upset over the fact that Mr.Sol called me Demi."

Daisy bit her lips as she sighed. She looked Abidemi in the eyes. "Did he hurt you in any way?"

"He just grabbed me roughly but that's about it."Abidemi said to Daisy. Daisy's eyes narrowed darkly as she bit her lips. "Daisy."

"Nothing to worry about, Demi." Daisy said while looking at Abidemi. She sighed and looked at the sky. "I just wanna punch him. That's all."

Abidemi laughed nervously. "Daisy, that is very unladylike."

Daisy scoffed. "Who cares? He shouldn't have grabbed you. He has some nerves too."

Abidemi smiled at Daisy before humming. " It's fine, Daisy." Daisy frowned at her. "I mean it. After that he was mad at father. He didn't say anything to me for the rest of the night."

"As he should. He has no business trying to interfere in your affairs." Daisy said while she crossed her arms. "That no good idiot."

"Relax Daisy. He's the heir to the Blacklake household and we're in public." Abidemi said.

Daisy sighed. She looked around the streets to see no one was around. Then she pulled Abidemi close to her. "My mother told me that there is a chance that Logan's younger brother might take his seat."

Abidemi's eyes widened and looked at Daisy. "Really?" she mouthed.

"That's what my mother said. The Duchess is quite sick of Logan's infatuation with Mila. And from what I heard Asher is much more suited to be the next Duke of that household." Daisy said while she shrugged her shoulders.

"Oh darn. I could hear the gossiping hens now." Demi said while they walked down a stone road. "It was bad enough when they talked about The Duchess favoring Asher over Logan. Then again they were shocked that she favors Asher at all."

"Tell me about it." Daisy said. The two stopped when they noticed Eden had stayed still. "Hey Eden, what's wrong?"

Eden placed a finger over his lips. Daisy and Abidemi blinked before looking to where Eden was pointing at. Their eyes widened when they saw Freya, sitting inside of a cafe. She looked nervous as she picked at her gloved hand. She wore a dark green outing dress and had a hat on her head.

All three ducked behind a nearby stall that appeared vacant as Freya looked outside.

"What is Aunt Freya doing here?" Daisy asked as she peeked from the stall. Abidemi and Eden followed suit as they watched the nervous older woman. "Why does she look so nervous?"

"Mmmm. Mother has been acting that way since Demi told her that she was leaving." Eden explained as he watched Freya nervously sip some tea.

"Why would Aunt Freya care if Demi is leaving or not?" Freya asked.

"No clue. She was even the one that invited me and Sol for dinner." Abidemi said, which made Daisy smirk.

"I still want details on that one." Daisy said, which made Demi giggle and Eden rolled his eyes.

All of a sudden an older woman dressed in a navy blue gown, with fawn-colored skin, and dark blue eyes caught their sight. Her long black hair was in a bun and her expression was stoic. She was carrying a navy parasol that shaded her from the sun despite being so cloudy.

"Oh. Duchess Of Blacklake." Eden said.

Daisy hummed. "It's rare to see her out. She only comes out during balls or tea parties."

Abidemi cocked an eyebrow. "Must be important."

The three watched as The Duchess walked into the cafe. Then their eyes widened in shock when the Duchess took a seat at Freya's table. Daisy covered her mouth, Abidemi bit her lips and Eden frowned deeply.

"Wait, was Mother ever friends with The Duchess Of Blacklake?" Eden asked.

"Nope. Auntie doesn't like her because she wasn't accepting of Mila. While the Duchess doesn't like Auntie because she never corrected Mila's behavior." Daisy said with a frown.

Abidemi smiled at Daisy. "Wow, Daisy. You know more than I do."

"Well, I have an amazing teacher." Daisy said while giving Abidemi a smile. Then she looked back at the cafe. "Also Mother was always talking about how both Auntie and The Duchess of Blacklake are always at each other's throats. The Duchess had always won at the end of those 'battles'."

"Yikes." Eden said under his breath. Abidemi nodded her head in agreement.

They watched as Freya and The Duchess spoke to each other. The Duchess was sipping her tea and Freya looked almost nervous as she spoke. Abidemi, Daisy, and Eden only watched for a few minutes until someone cleared their throat. The three blinked as Abidemi, Eden, and Freya looked at the shopkeeper that was behind them.

"Oh. Hi." Daisy said with a small wave. Abidemi let out a nervous chuckle while Eden sighed. The three stood up as they turned to face the person. The person crossed their arms in front of their chest while they watched the three oddly.

"We'll just …go."Abidemi said with a cheesy smile. Making a motion with her hands.

"Don't mind us." Eden said as they quickly walked away. Once they made it in a short distance, they all sighed.

"That was embarrassing." Daisy said while she let out a sigh.

"We had to be nosy, didn't we?" Abidemi said with a frown.

"Who won't be nosy? Mother and The Duchess of Blacklake in the same room." Eden said. "It's like the world is going to explode or something."

Daisy sighed as she shook her head. "But Auntie looked so afraid. I wonder what is going on?"

Abidemi sighed."Hopefully, nothing that has to do with any of us."

All three sighed. They were about to walk off until a monotone voice of a woman spoke.

"Lord Eden, Lady Daisy, and Lady Abidemi." the woman called out to them. All three froze as they looked behind them.

There stood The Duchess Of Blacklake, her emotionless face watching them as all three of them quickly bow and curtsy towards her.

"Duchess Of Blacklake." all three of them said at the same time. Then they slowly stood up and gave her their best smiles. Trying to act properly despite feeling a bit nervous.

"Relax you three." The Duchess said as all three of them stood up. " Having an outing I see."

"Yes, Duchess Blake. We are just spending time together before Abidemi leaves in two days." Daisy said as she smiled at the older woman. The Duchess arched an eyebrow as Daisy said those words. "She's moving to Elov, you see and it will be quite a while to see her again."

Blake let out a hum as she nodded her head. She looked at Abidemi. "Is your stepmother aware of this?" she asked Abidemi.

Abidemi blinked and nodded her head. "Yes. I told her at the beginning of the week."

"Ah." Blake said while closing her eyes. She gave Abidemi a look. Giving her a small smile. "Be careful around her. She wants nothing but an ill will to you, my dear."

Abidemi blinked at Blake.

Blake gave her a small smile. " I really wished that you were my daughter-in-law but as things stand now. I know that is impossible. I'm so sorry for my son."

"Okay. Um…it's fine." Abidemi whispered.

"Now the three of you should head to the temple. It's really important for you to go." Blake said as she turned to leave. The three blinked as she watched the older woman walk away.

"How did she…?" Daisy started out.

Eden hummed. "One of her grace skills in magic, she has psychic abilities but she mostly focuses on foresight. I don't know what level it is."

"Ah. I never met someone with foresight before." Abidemi whispered.

"That is because only certain households usually have that class. The Blacklake family is known to always have that ability." Eden muttered.

"Ah." Daisy said quietly.

The three were quiet for a long while before Abidemi said. "We should really head to the temple."

Daisy looked at Abidemi. She started to speak. "What about what her grace told us about Auntie? Are we just going to leave this alone?"

"We'll just inform Father about it." Eden said. He frowned deeply. "And we'll also inform everyone in the Sunflower Mansion. Besides that, there is nothing else we could do."

Daisy nodded her head. "So the temple?"

"The temple." they said at the same time.
