Song of Wren

"Inicio Traicio! Chirp!" Wren cast a spell by flapping its tiny wings.

Eirwyn and Terrell were enshrouded with white brilliant light. Particles scattered from the light, numbers, and symbols formed.

Eirwyn and Terrell disappeared instantly without any trace left.

Somewhere, in a floating island in the clear blue sky. A barracks similar to the ones from the medieval ages erected on a hillock. It had walls out of stone surrounding the barracks. The walls had battlements and crenels. The barracks were built with the combination hardwood and stone. Atop on it was brick roof tiles.

Figures formed from white light. Eirwyn and Terrell appeared on the training camp of the barracks.

"Is this a dungeon?" Terrell was thrilled.

"Nope. You're wrong Terrell. This is not a dungeon. Wren is toying with us." Eirwyn couldn't help but frown.

"Oh." Terrell was disappointed.

A white portal appeared on the air. Wren came out and flew towards Terrell and Eirwyn. A bird stand appeared and Wren rested on it.

"Wren, is this a dungeon?" Terrell asked and sought confirmation from Wren.

"No, Stormgarde. Our current location is not a dungeon. Chirp!" Wren shooked its head.

"Huuuuh?! You told us that you will bring us to a dungeon. Why are we here?" Eirwyn was suspicious.

"You fool! Do you want to kill yourself inside a dungeon? Do you have a proper weapon? Do you know how to fight? How could you kill a rabid dog with bare hands? Chirp?" Wren squawked and rebuked Eirwyn.

"Anyways, we are here for a tutorial!" Wren composed itself immediately.

Terrell shoved Eirwyn with his elbow. Eirwyn balanced himself from stumbling and behaved.

"I will instruct you about the essential information from mechanics of the game. Since you know about classes and weapons from the awakening, I will tell you the necessary things you must learn."

"In order to enter the Stratus Isle, they need to activate the Tessera ex Excitum, or simply Tessera! Chirp!"

"Is it a smartphone?" Eirwyn asked as he recalled the odd-looking smartphone from before.

"No. It is a tablet. Chirp!" Wren shooked its head.

"So, its a bigger kind of smartphone?" Eirwyn teased Wren.

"It is the Tablet of Awakening! You imbecile! Chuuuuurp!" Wren squawked.

"Oh. My bad. So it was called Tesera eks Esitum." Eirwyn parodied.

"Tessera ex Excitum. Anyway, just call it Tessera. Chirp!" Wren corrected Eirwyn.

"Moving on. Chirp! The name of the object on your wrist is Anima, it radiates colors depending on your elemental affinity. Anima serves as a user interface for players. The Anima will display and navigate the user interface when it detects the command via player's mind or by directly touching it. Chirp!"

"Oh! So I can open it without touching it, how convenient!" Eirwyn was pleased.

"Wren, what are the different elemental affinities?" Terrell asked.

"Fire. Lightning. Earth. Nature. Beast. Water. Ice. Wind. Poison. Mystic. Dark. Light. Ghost. Lastly, no affinity is Neutral.

"I see." Terrell understood.

"Next, attributes. Each player has unique base attributes, the explanation is the same as elemental affinity, it depends on the person. All attributes have a maximum of 100 points. Every time a player levels up, the player will receive 10 attribute points. Chirp!"

"The player can allocate and distribute it in any way they like. If the player makes a mistake on the allocation of attribute points, a resetting attribute is possible. However, the player needs to sacrifice a certain amount of experience points. Chirp!"

"The level cap of all players is Level 100. Every 5 levels have an obvious disparity. The experience points a player can gain depends on the difficulty and rarity of the hostile entity; the player's current level and level difference. Chirp!"

"Every class and every player is unique. Every player has exclusive Skills suitable for the chosen class and their elemental affinity. All skills are elemental. Various elements categorize into a myriad of skill types. For example, a Mystical element has Psychic skill type and Cosmic skill type. In rare cases, when a player possesses two and compatible elements, the two elements will combine and create a new skill type. Such as, Fire and Earth Elements will integrate and obtain Magma skill type. Chirp!"

"Skills have skill trees. There are primary skills on the bottom of the skill tree. A primary skill branch to secondary skills then branches to tertiary skills. The player can only unlock and acquire a new skill if the previous skill reaches a certain level and the player meet certain requirements. The skills level up from skill proficiency points. Every time the player uses a skill successfully, the player gain skill proficiency points. All skills only use MP. Chirp!"

"Techniques are similar to skills. The system will automatically grant Techniques that bases from real-life martial arts that are suitable to the player's physique, weapon, and class. Chirp! The player can also gain and learn techniques from external sources. Chirp!"

"Technique only uses stamina and level up by technique mastery points obtain from battle. Chirp! Techniques don't have trees but instead, each technique has manuals. Techniques that come from same martial arts belong to the same manual. As long as the player executed the technique correctly, it will work. Chirp! Don't worry. The system will provide assistance to allow the player to perform the techniques smoothly via Anima. Chirp!"

"Techniques and player's weapon relate to one another. The player can raise weapon mastery from battles. Every time the weapon mastery increases the player can create one new personal technique. Chirp!"

"Next, Talents. The player's class have exclusive talents which have perks and unique abilities. Talents have a talent tree, similar to the mechanics of skill tree. When a player levels up, the player gain 10 talent points. Chirp chirp chirp!"

"Lastly, we will talk about equipment. All equipment have weight and durability. The weight of equipment the player bear stack to each other. When the player reaches the maximum carrying capacity, the player cannot equip more. Weapons and armor cannot be equipped when the player does not meet the requirements or restricted by the system for the reason of incompatibility of the equipment and the player's weapon of expertise. At the instance, when a player is an aptitude to bow, the player cannot equip firearms and melee weapons. Chirp!"

"Durability of all equipment reduces overtime. Furthermore, the durability of melee weapons and armor decreases significantly when it strikes and contact with harder objects, while ranged weapons decrease along with the number of uses. Armor has toughness and hardness. Melee weapons have sharpness, hardness, and length. Ranged Weapons have rigidity, range, ammunition and projectile type. Magical apparatuses have elemental compatibility, length, rigidity and core component. Magical artifacts have special cases and complexity; it depends either magical artifact is a melee, ranged or magical apparatus. Accessories only have the weight yet most of them are light. Chirp!"

"Equipment has a rarity. The worth of equipment, the number of bonus attributes, and additional special abilities they possess are the factors of the rarity. The level of equipment partition into 5 increments. A Level 5 equipment has a large gap compared to a Level 10 equipment. Chirp!"

"Do you have any questions? Chirp?" Wren rotated its head abruptly.

Eirwyn and Terrell gazed at Wren. Although they listened thoroughly throughout the lecture from Wren, they felt like they were listening to a bird singing a beautiful song in nature.

"None. I understand." Terrell and Eirwyn replied in chorus.
