I | Conscious

Cold.

That's what Chione felt when she regained consciousness. Her mind is still muddled from the pain and the shut down that her body weny through, not realizing that her eyes greedily welcomed light from an unknown source, and that she's not in that void anymore.

Only did when Chione felt outside movement did her head kicked to a start and started whirring, taking in every necessary information given by the environment. She stilled when she realized that she's in a room, a dimly lit one, and that someone is holding her.

Her gaze slowly looked up, and to her horror, a giant—a beautiful one—looked back at her with a strange gaze.

Chione's mind went blank.

Not knowing what happened to her after that torment in the 'void' (she decided to call it that way, because, obviously, it is a void to torment souls), she desperately searched for a memory of what happened before she passed out, but all she could remember is the incomparable pain she went through.

Then realization dawned on her as she noticed her small hands, clutching the giant's blouse tightly.

She's freaking reincarnated.

And this giant—woman—is possibly her mother. 'What a dummy, of course she is my mother here!' she berated herself as she continued to stare at her "mother's" eyes, her thoughts running a mile per second as she digested all the things that happened.

The woman that goes by the name of Urielle, who's been staring at her daughter the entire time, giggled at her daughter's antics. Finding it too adorable to be categorized as strange, because her daughter never acted this way around her before—acted like a stranger, shocked to see her face—her daughter just woke up after all, and she practically just lifted her up even though her baby is still groggy.

Chione, who finally snapped out of her thoughts, softened on the woman's arms and, as if by instinct, burrowed herself further into her mother's arms. It feels strange, the warmth she felt was a foreign feeling for her. After all, she never went physical with Jean before, just a few hand shakes or shoulder bumps, but never a full-blown body contact. And the warmth from her previous family is long forgotten after their massacre.

Urielle felt pleased and giddy upon seeing her daughter lovingly cuddling with her—it was extremely sweet, and Lauriel (Chione's name here) only does it when she's a good mood. Damn right! Her daughter is already moody despite being an infant.

Cooing softly at her daughter, she started to lightly rock her body to please her daughter, as she started to walk out of the room—only to be stopped when the door to Lauriel's room opened and she saw her husband, Lauren.

"Woah there, Lauren. You know how to knock on the door right?"

Lauren chuckled at his wife's sass and smiled wryly, "I did knock two times. But it seems that our daughter completely entranced you." he teased then walked towards Urielle, giving her a kiss on the forehead, and then kissed Lauriel on the forehead as well.

Lauriel, who's been watching quietly all this time, felt funny when Lauren, her "father", kissed her forehead. The word affection long forgotten on her vocabulary because of all the things that happened to her. But she welcomed it nontheless.

Then it struck her.

She already felt weird about her mother her earlier, but she couldn't point her finger as to what it is, so she shrugged it off. But then when her father came in, the feeling came back, and it somehow made her want to squirm.

Their auras are close to none—which is impossible because, even before in Earth, Lauriel could easily feel people's presence and auras, a feat only a few people who had a high skill set has. Even Jean's aura and presence can't escape her senses, and that is to say that Jean is stronger than her, being born into the Mob[1] and all. But then again, she's not entirely sure if people here have auras or such—still, their lack of presence is setting off the alarm signals in her head.

Then she noticed it when Urielle looked at her again—her eyes. Urielle's eyes are white.

Lauriel thought that her mother is blind, but then seeing her interaction with her, and her father, she immediately erased that thought. It was peculiar, but if she get to see her own eyes, she'd consider herself even more peculiar. It is not only the eyes though. Now that they are in a properly lit room, she could finally see her parents' features clearly. And they are really gorgeous, heavenly, even.

Urielle has a long, curly blonde hair that reached the curve on her back, her skin is so fair and smooth, it is too tempting to touch, her face is so exquisite that it is blinding—even her platinum eyes enhanced her ethereal beauty. She has a button nose that is naturally rosy along with her high cheek bones that are dotted with freckles, and her supple lips are in a natural shade of red it is so unfair. Her body is also something girls would sin to have, with those plump mounds, small waist, wide hips and long legs—she's like perfection personified.

Meanwhile, Lauriel's father, Lauren, is handsome, of course. His skin is slightly tanned, maybe because of his work or something, and his body is lean—not too muscular and not too thin. His height is approximately six foot five in Lauriel's perspective and she wishes to inherit his height (it's not like Urielle is short though). His disheveled hair sharpened his rogue features, starting with his strong nose that curved towards his inviting, thin lips, add in his sleepy blue eyes that rivals the color of the sea before a storm, one could not help but be lost in his probing gaze. He has thick brows that seemed to be always in a lax position, making him look innocent, at the same time, devilish.

"Urielle, what would you like to eat for dinner later?" Lauren asked as he assisted Urielle to sit down on the couch. Urielle smiled at her husband in gratitude then caressed the raven curls on Lauriel's small head.

"Some grilled salmon would do."

As her parents talked about everything and nothing, Lauriel observed them and noticed that, despite the disturbing lack of presence, they are like a typical small family. The warmth they exude is pleasant and they are full of smiles. In other words, you can feel the love.

It looks like, the family she is born into would be an ordinary one, far from the family of her past life. No matter—she'd still take care of them and protect them, even if it's the last thing she'll do.

But then again, Lauriel has no idea, that the life she has right now would be worse than her previous one.

Mob - it is the term for Italian Mafia.
