Was She Always Like That?

Our return back to the ballroom caused quite a scene, mostly due to the jaw-dropping beauty that Muria and Irina exhibited. Us three guys were simply overshadowed by them as all eyes seemed to be on them as we entered the silent ballroom where everyone had stopped what they were doing to admire the two girls.

As she walked, Muria kept her head low from embarrassment and she kept a hand over her chest, hoping that it'll block out the perverted gazes from some of the male students. That concern was totally justified, but what she didn't know was that by trying to cover it up, she simply drew more attention there.

When I was simply looking around, I spotted a boy taking out their phone and pointing it in Muria's direction. He was about to take a picture of her, and I was certain that Muria wouldn't want her picture taken in that outfit she had on. Therefore, without further thought, I sped up my pace until I was walking close in front of her. This way, I could cover her chest from the perverted gazes that was thrown in her direction.

"Thank you," Muria muttered in an embarrassed voice.

As if learning from my actions, Loyd and Zaksus then formed a triangle with me using our bodies and surrounded the two girls. This way, we could prevent any individuals with ulterior motives from taking pictures.

"If you're that embarrassed then don't wear it," I whispered to Muria without turning to look at her while continuing to lead the group to a corner where we could relax.

"Right," Irina added as she comforted Muria. "You could've asked for something less revealing."

"..." Muria remained silent, probably regretting her decision.

"You want to head back and change?" Loyd asked.

"It's fine," Muria said.

We then arrived in the far corner of the ballroom, away from the crowd. Once we arrived here, everything returned to normal once again with everybody resuming what they were doing before our arrival. They chatted among themselves while enjoying the delicious looking food and drinks.

"Looks like you two really stole the spotlight," Zaksus sighed and said in a joking manner.

"So what do you guys wanna do now?" Loyd asked.

"You guys can go and do your thing," I said, taking a seat on the cushioned benches set against the wall. "I'll just stay here."

"Alev..." Loyd sighed. "You gotta be more social."

"To hell with that," I simply barked back.

"Fine," Loyd said as he finally accepted his defeat. "Then you guys wanna walk around and get some food?" He said to the remaining four.

"I-I think I'll stay here as well," Muria said in a shy manner as she kept her head down.

"Then it's the three of us?" Loyd confirmed with the remaining two.

"Let's go already," Zaksus said with a slight frustration in his voice since he had been excited for this event before we even arrived, and now after spending about forty-five minutes changing, he's ready to enjoy himself.

"If you need anything just call," Loyd said as he walked away with Zaksus and Irina.

As they walked away, I noticed Irina looking over her shoulder at Muria and I. In her eyes there was a hint of reluctance mixed with concern. Her steps seemed a bit slower than usual, and it's probably not because of the heels since she's definitely used to them being a celebrity and all. Therefore, the reason for her odd behavior was a mystery to me. The only hint I have is her longing gaze, but that didn't help much.

The party continued on with music playing in the speakers and creating a lively atmosphere in the room. It would appear that some students had laid there hands on some alcohol and were having fun over there in the center of the ballroom with the liquor. Even though it was technically illegal for us to drink, no one's gonna report this. I won't because it doesn't pertain to me.

I heard a soft sigh escape Muria's mouth as she walked up to me. I looked up from my seat and at that troubled expression on her face. Both her arms were before her chest as she struggled to keep everything concealed and her face was quite red from embarrassment. She opened her mouth slightly as if trying to say something, but she closed it once again soon after and looked to the side in order to avoid eye contact with me.

I kept my eyes fixed on her for the duration of this interaction, trying to figure out what it was that she was after. I noticed the fidgeting of her fingers and that helpless look on her face. Then, I connected that with the fact that she was wearing revealing clothing that she's completely not prepared for. Therefore, I believe I have a descent idea as to how to handle the situation.

I scooted over a bit to my left, creating some space on the cushioned bench by the very corner of the ballroom.

"You wanna sit down?" I asked her with an apathetic voice, hoping that by acting as I usually did, she would feel more comfortable in this embarrassing outfit.

Without saying anything, she sat down next to me. However, her face was still quite red and she shivered ever so slightly. I wasn't sure if it was from the air conditioner being on or if it was from nervousness, but anyhow, I took off my suit jacket and placed it over her shoulder like a cloak.

She was surprised by the sudden interaction her skin had with my suit jacket and flinched. However, once she realized what it was, she crossed her arms over her chest, using her hands to grab onto the jacket, and pulled it closer to her body in order to cover up more of it.

"If you're so unused to it then why wear it?" I asked her once again.

This time, I peeked at her face, and to my surprise, she was crying. Tears had formed in her eyes, probably from her embarrassment, and it was mixed with some sniffling. Her face was a scarlet color as she remained silent. However, it would appear that my jacket had helped her calm down slightly since she no longer shivered.

"C-can you sit a bit closer?"

She gently pulled at the sleeve of my dress shirt in her direction. I looked at her in surprise, not expecting Muria, the girl who was so cold to me on a regular basis, to be acting like so. She was extremely weak and fragile at the moment, defenseless even, and I'm the only one she could depend on. That thought made my heart race, but I listened to her request.

I moved closer to her on the seat until I was basically pressed against her. It would appear that this gave her a sense of security, which kinda reminded me of a cat. Cats, when scared, like to hide in boxes. At that moment, Muria was like a frightened kitten, defenseless and the only thing she could do is hide. Therefore, I didn't make a single comment when she still did not release my sleeve from her hands.

As I sat there, I tried to remain calm, but I could not ignore the rapid beating of my heart. I glanced over to my right, in awe at the fact that the pretty girl that had always treated me with the coldest of attitudes was now pressing herself against me and relying on me. However, once I reminded myself that nothing will result from this interaction, I felt my heart rate slowly dip and return to normal.

That's right, nothing will ever happen between Muria and I, I reminded myself.

My reasoning for that idea is that there's just no chance someone like her will ever have something for me. I believed that anyone could've taken my spot at that moment. Anyone could. It could've been Loyd and it could've been Zaksus. It's just that it just so happened to be me that's sitting next to her that she chose to ask me.

For some odd reason, the thought that it anyone could've worked as a shield to protect her ruined my mood. It made me quite gloomy when it should've been the truth.

Will she... will she act this way in front of other people? I thought as I glanced at her embarrassed face and allowed my heart rate to increase once again. Will she be so defenseless in front of other guys?

The answer to that question shouldn't have pertained to me, so I was unsure why I was so intent on finding an answer. Maybe it's my competitiveness in play and the idea that I might not be superior than other guys that made me curious. However, all I know is that usually, I would never have cared about the answer to that question since I know that nothing will ever happen between Muria and I. Therefore, I was extremely confused when I discovered that the answer to that question is actually something that I'm curious about and hoped the answer would be only me.

When I looked away from Muria, I discovered Irina slowly walking back to us. In her hands, she carried two glass containers containing drinks for us. One of them appeared to be a coke and the other an orange juice. On her face was a look of concern as she handed the coke to me and the glass of orange juice to Muria.

"Are you alright?" Irina then asked Muria.

"A little," Muria responded.

"Looks like she's not fine," Irina sighed. She then gazed at Muria's cowering figure with a concerned countenance. After a while, she finally spoke again. "Let's go and get you changed out of that."

She reached a hand out to Muria in order to help her out, but Muria was slow to react. It was her embarrassment that had rendered her almost like a totally different person and it was also that same embarrassment that made her fear getting up and walking through the crowd once again.

"Go change," I sighed. "Isn't it quite uncomfortable being dressed like that?"

"..." Muria nodded shyly.

"You can take the jacket with you," I said, telling her to use my suit jacket to cover herself while walking. "It's not like you to be like this."

"..." After hearing my words, Muria finally reached out and grabbed hold of Irina's hand. Then, she slowly rose from her seat with Irina's help and walked off with her in order to escape from that tormenting outfit.

When they were gone, I let out a sigh of relief. My face felt extremely hot, and when I brought my right hand over my left chest, I wasn't surprised by how fast my heart was beating due to the fact that I could hear it pumping.

To be honest, if she would've sat next to me for a bit longer in that outfit, I don't know what would've happened to me. My heart was pounding for almost the entire time and it was extremely tormenting trying to act normal around her.

I breathed deeply as I stared at the ceiling overhead.

I thought back on that cute and pretty girl that sat next to me. She was extremely erotic in that outfit, but how embarrassed she got made her extremely cute.

"Was she always that cute?"
