A death man's family - I

The house that they lived in was pretty ancient to her. Ancient as in it actually has secret passages that Evelyn had become aware of when she was merely fourteen. Her little curious self could not help but knock on doors out of curiosity to see if it was true that there might be secret passages behind the walls after watching a criminal mastermind show.

Which is how she entered successfully back into her room in the early morning hours. Thankfully no one had seen the way she was walking otherwise it would have been apparent that last night she was up to no good.

She felt awkward herself the way she was walking. She could not really walk normally and sometimes it felt like she was wearing a diaper because her legs would not close.

'Oh god,' she closed her eyes. Who was that she had slept with? 'Maybe, I should have seen his face before getting out of the room. How could I have been so stupid to not know or even try to even find out who it was.'

But then she frowned as she thought about it while standing in the middle of her room. Was it not the point of a one night stand? Sleep have great sex and never look at each other every again.

Maybe, it is great that it's down with. She shrugged and took a hower and removed all of her makeup.

She giggled when the raccoon eyes were no longer visible and her dark circles came back after she took off the heavy concealer that she had applied last night. Now her stupid face made her seem like an angel instead.

She sighed and walked to her closet and wore the softest silk ever known to mankind. Her father spared no expense when it came to her.

"Good night Evelyn," she said before closing her eyes and sleeping into the sleep she desperately craved for only to groan out loud when there was a knock on the door.

She wanted to hear the person loudly because she was frustrated with the lack of sleep but decided to get up and open the door instead. Her mother did not teach her to be so disrespectful.

"Madam! Open up please!"

Evelyn sat up on the bed and frowned. The repeated knocking on the door scared her and she threw off the covers and her early works to deliver. No one ever disturbed there like this and in such a hurry.

She opened the door and stared at the woman who stood next to the underboss. Ambulance is immediately turned to the slightly boarding man. The under boss never talked to her directly unless and until it was absolutely necessary.

"What's wrong Maria?" She turned to her nanny and now maid.

She gulped and fidgeted slightly with shaky hands. They trembled badly and that scared Evelyn.

"What?" Dread had started to creep in into her being and she finally mustered out the strength to say, " Is. . .it papa?"

"Yes, madam." The underboss now took over from the women and addressed the girl directly. His voice appeared to be grim and as ever emotionless. "The boss has passed away. We came to know about this a few minutes ago and you are the first one to be informed."

"Wh-what?" She stared at the man unable to process the information. She seemed to have stuck. Her mind was completely blank.

He nodded. "We were staying in the Northern part of the country and when he did not appear for the meeting we checked into his room. His body is going through post Mortem examination and we will come to know the reason for his death in a few hours."

Tears gathered in her eyes as she finally understood the gravity of the situation. Yet, her mind could not seem to process what was going on. This was not real, he could not just die.

She shook her head. This was not real. The reality started to creep in. If her father was dead, then who was she now?
