Sewing Together (2)

"What do you think?" John asked, showing the stitches he had finished on the layers of horsehair, padding, and canvas. She placed her needle on her hoodie and reached for it as she examined the stitch she said, "It's as bad as the first stitch and it's done well but try to do a back stitch every 10 or so pad stitches." He nodded, taking the thing back as they continued their work.

She was finishing up the back of the suit when she heard a growl from her stomach. Johnny looked up, raising his brow and she smiled gently asking, "Do you want to take a quick break?" He nodded and she placed the fabric down and walked over to the kitchen.

"What do you want to eat?" she asked while looking through the fridge. "I am okay with anything," he said walking over. She smiled asking, "How does a salad sound?" He gave her a surprised look and she laughed before saying, "I don't feel like cooking, so a quick salad sounds great to me." He sighed before asking, "How about instant ramen?" Jian shook her head saying, "I can't eat spicy food right now, but if you want there are a few in that cabinet and the water boiler is there." She pointed to a few places while taking out the things from the fridge. "No, I will have the salad too," he said, helping her get the bowls ready. It didn't take long before the two finished and went back to sewing after eating.

"Jian, I am home," they heard from the couch where the two were working. Jessica walked inside while Jian said, "Mom, Johnny's here too." She glanced at the two before walking inside her room. Johnny looked at Jian with a confused face and she shook her head.

"Sorry for not greeting you earlier Johnny anyways, what are you two doing?" Jesscia asked, walking into the living room. "Jian's teaching me how to sew," Johnny said, showing her the needle and fabric, he held. She gave them a gentle smile asking, "Did you two eat yet?" Jian answered her question saying, "Yes but just a light salad." Jesscia nodded, asking, "Do you want some noodles for dinner then?"

Jian looked up at her mother who was walking towards the kitchen. "I can make some of the cold noodles you like, and it'll feel light since it's not a warm dish," Jessica said, turning around to look at Jian who nodded, then glanced at Johnny asking, "Johnny?"

He looked up with a smile saying, "Yes please." She smiled at the two before getting to work. It didn't take long, just about 20 minutes and once done she called the two over to eat. Jian had just done the last stitch to the center back sem of the blazer and Johnny had also finished his task.
