Casting (1)

Johnny stayed over for dinner that night just helping Jian decide a few outfits for her casting tomorrow. Then he left a few hours later and Jian went to bed. She called him once he got home and the two talked before each one fell asleep.

The next day there wasn't much Jian could, so she got up early and left the house for two casting she had. One was at 9 on the south side of Manhattan and the other was on north so she left early to make it to both on time.

Jian smiled as she entered the large waiting room. There were a lot of people each one unique with their own features and distinctiveness but everyone she saw was tall. Jian was about 5 foot 4 inches so for her age she was normal but with so many tall people around her she felt like a child. Jian sighed as she looked around and found a seat, and just as she was about to sit down a person pointed out a few people including her and told them to follow.

They all did as told and one by one the models walked a long narrow runway. Jian watched as the nervousness came over her. She watched everyone trying to collect small details in their movements as she waited for her turn.

Her heart was racing and as she took the first step her mind went blank; all she saw was the runway in front of her. Jian took the first few steps stiffly but as she turned to walk the long narrow path her walk transformed as she moved her hips slightly with her shoulder relaxed.

Her arms softly moved with each step they passed her hips hiding behind them slightly, she stopped at the end posing in a gentle manner with just her body and slight movement of the face. She then turned and looked back before gently walking down the runway. Her movements were elegant as if she was flying rather than walking.

"Good, turn and give me a fiercer walk," a coordinator said as Jian nodded turning around before she changed her facial expression, she had held and aloof expression before but now as she stared her brows had lowered slightly as her eyes creased and widened as she let her lips drop slight before she turned to face the runway. Her walk was the same pace but unlike before instead of flowing it was stiffer and more angled.

They guided the group out after the other walked and said, "You all will receive an email by Friday." The group nodded as they all left, and Jian walked out quickly making her way to the closest subway station. She took a train north then walked a few blocks to a cafe.

She sighed there was about 10 more minutes before the casting and wanted something simple, so she settled for a cup of jasmine tea and walked down a few more blocks to the casting location.

The setup was much different here there was a waiting section and a signup section where Jian went to get her number. She was number 31, and she looked around as she noticed a group of people walked inside. Jian glanced over at each of the evaluators she guessed as they sat down at a table in front of the runway.

This place unlike the one before didn't separate the two sections letting the models watch along and as Jian looked over the evaluators, she noticed a familiar person. Her nervousness increased as she looked away and soon it started with an organizer calling people up by their numbers.

Jian watched each person and their walk taking in the reaction of the people evaluating them and by the time her number was called out of 30 people only 3 were given a pass for another round of additions. She took in a light breath closing her eyes and she opened them as the person before her walked out.

Jian walked to the line waiting for the cue and she held neutral expression as she relaxed her shoulders eyes forward, head held up and shoulders relaxed. She walked the way she knew best with her ships swaying slightly and elegance in each step. Then she waited as she posed glancing at each person in front of her.
