Jian's Health

The hours passed quickly and Jessica arrived a few minutes after 12. "Jian, I am back, hello John," she said walking inside.

"Hello, Miss Kim, I should leave now, Jian I'll see you on Wednesday, and thank you for this," John said getting the files from Jian's side. She smiled helping him pack and as he left Doctor Lawson walked inside with Maria.

"Hey, you're back," he said looking at Jessica and she smiled at him asking, "You're here for a checkup?" He nodded saying, "Yup, she should be good to return home after, just make sure she doesn't get too stressed out." Jessica nodded as Maria checked her vitals again.

Doctor Lawson smiled asking, "Jian, can I borrow your mom for a few minutes?" Jian nodded as Jessica turned to him and he walked away opening the door for her.

She followed him towards his office, and he smiled saying, "Don't worry it's not about Jian's health." Jessica nodded sitting down and he looked at her expression, she was calmer than before and much more relaxed.

He took in a deep breath closing his eyes and opening them as he let it out before saying, "Jessica, I know it isn't my business, but you should tell Jian the truth-"

"NO," Jessica interrupted, she didn't scream, she didn't yell, she said no in a tone that was full of fear and anxiety. He tried to reassure her with a gentle smile saying, "Jian is about to be 15, it's been years. She's mature enough to understand your choices, tell her the-"

"Lawson," Jessica said interrupting him with a cold voice, he flinched as she glared at him, his smile gone. "I understand your concerns, but you raised her she-" he tried to reason with her, but she got up saying, "I can't do it, I can't afford to lose her, she's all I have left, please."

"Jessica, I understand your concerns, but she's going to find out soon enough," he said reaching for a file on the desk. He passed it to her, and she opened it as he said, "Jian's health record, I have organized all her check up from the past after the incident and she's been at her best condition for the past few years. This would normally let to her recovering, and it's highly possible that she'll regain all her memories due to her excellent conditions."

"You want me to tell her myself before she remembers everything," Jessica said closing the file and he nodded saying, "This fever was caused by extreme stress and if it happens again, it's possible for her to remember."

Jessica sighed placing the file down saying, "Thank you for your suggestions, Doctor Lawson." He sighed opening the door for her as they walked back in silences. He understood she needed time to process everything, and this wasn't a topic he should further push.

"Mom, your back, what did you two talk about?" Jian asked as they entered the room. Jessica smiled saying, "About you," she turned to Maria asking, "Is she clear to leave?"

Maria nodded passing the papers to Doctor Lawson for him to sign before the two left. "Jessica, please be mindful of what I said," he said, and she nodded saying, "I will, Jian let's go."

Jian nodded walking behind her asking, "What is he talking about?" Jessica smiled waiting for the elevator as she said, "Your health condition, he said you're in excellent condition, but you shouldn't stress too much."

Jian nodded asking, "Mom, are you hiding something from me?" Jessica paused as the elevator opened and Jian walked inside saying, "It's okay, I kind of figured after last night, you can take your time, I'll try my best to understand your wish."
