19. Isle of abolitis

I blinked my eyes few times. Its not the size of what stood in front of me had astound me, no. I had a fair share of seeing big mansions before this. What had amazed me was the state of the whole house is..

I wonder if it even categorised as a house. Its more like a palace. And it was freaking floating on the sky with a land attach on it, twenty feet above.

"What? Never seen a floating house?. Psh" said the cat then strutting forward with its lazy gait.

"Uhm.. how are we going up there? We dont have any wings or plane"

Mr. Cat laughed again and I winced inwardly. Please.. somebody stop him. Now it look like he got a chicken feet stuck in his throat and cant breath between interval. You got the gist. Yep. Definitely just how you would imagine it.

"Why do we need wings when we have magic" he said mysteriously before the bead on top of his head flash neon blue and big pentagram appear below our feet before we slowly float above.

My perception was in a mess and I lose my balance. It challenged the very fabric of my rationality as I felt my weight become nothing even though the force of gravity law was-while still applicable and should be working just fine- but somewhere around us it negate it and we're slowly ascending up. Even when my feet wasn't touching where it touched before, my body simply float half bowing.

It was truly magical and astounding. Well, to me at least. I find it super exhilarating.

"Oh stop that. You look like you never seen this"

"Never" I said breathlessly. The cat look at me, not shocked but his grin was apparent.

"Wanna learn it?"

"Can I?" I threw the question back at him. I know magical power were categorised in to several component and not everyone borne with capability to house some certain kind of spells or magics.

"Everyone can learn it" he said with a snigger.

"But not all can applied it." I said in deadpan. I read it in one of the book.

"True. I see you're a not a fool"

"And I see you have a penchant of crushing people dream"

"I served to please myself" he nodded. I rolled my eyes. Which part of me does he see that make him think he could fool me? Though that could be utilised to be my advantages.. but it irritated me to be play by a cat.

"Not going to change into your humanoid form?"

"I prefer this look. Its nimble"

'You mean easy to come and go.' I've seen what a cat can do before this. One of this naught kids near my house had decided to test the myth how cats have nine lives and could survive from eight floor. He drop a cat from a building, eight floor high. He was excited to see that cat had survived but I'm sure the cat had a fright of its life that day. I saw how that cat squeeze it was into a tiny crack of the window one of the house, running away to save itself from another experiment of the said kid.

Another pentagram flashed and soon we moved forward instead up. Then another flash accompanied us to slowly descend on the floating island. I took note on how the whole thing works and relate it with the books that I read.

The moment we step on the land, the gigantic door twelve feet high opened up with a loud ominous creak, three figures came out from door to greet us. They were wearing black suit, just like Esbar did but these ones, had even bow ties on them. I gotta say, these people seems to have a gala theme dress code here.

Not to mention people down there.. they all had wore beautiful dresses and suits no matter as far as your eyes could see. Such assembles catches my eyes since upon inspecting it more closely, you'll notice that their dresses leaning more toward of renaissance era rather than modern one.

But I choose not to say it out loud mor asked the cat. Sometimes it is best to act ignorant rather than being too perceptive. Since this is a new world for me and while I had read their books and gain some knowledge about them through books but it is not enough to cover the whole thing about them.

A smart reader always know when to hold themselves back. Theory is only applicable once you practice its practicality. Those books told me a lot of their histories, but it doesn't answer all. For instance, you can read a biography about a person but you will never truly know that person unless you get to know them better yourself, one by one interaction. From there, only then you can try guessing whats inside their heart, feeling, or thoughts that was never written in words. What lied within the veils of their core that had made an impact on who they were written in their biography.

But I regress.

Three men around their early thirties, stood there watching us with a careful mask of professionalism. They were all attractive that would definitely swoon any women hearts. It wouldn't surprised me if they said women would throw their underwear and fall on them. Like literally.

Psh. It's not too far stretched. They could be sell their face on any magazines and their company will hit a never ending jackpot since these men could probably retain that youthful looks for centuries more. Sigh. So not fair for some of us.

one of them, the guy in the kdidle with cooper brown hair survey me before looking at the cat and bowing in slow reverence.

"Welcome back."

"Call your master. He had a guest" it wasnt lost on me when he said a guest. It seems he is quite familiar with the owner of this place and that said guest was definitely me. The man eyes flash at me before bowing slightly again and gone in a blink of an eye.

"He's the lord overseeing this city. Don't worry, he's not that bad"

"I don't think your words held any weight on it since I cant even vouch on you" I said drily.

"I waited for you for two weeks didn't it?" He said. Thats true. I mean, if its any other normal people, one hour late means they'll stomp their feet with furious look and just leave.

"Besides, you trust me enough to follow me because you dont see me threatening you in any way"

I didnt raise to his bait and stay silent.

"Not talking huh? Never mind" I followed him when he enter through the door. The moment I step into the door, I feel the chill right to my bone, making me feel slightly uneasy. It was as if somebody is watching, following our moves from somewhere.

"In any other day, I would loved to say welcome but do pray tell, why would you come uninvited to my abode with a guest, when you know what am I going through right now"

A voice echoed around us with sharp and clear low voice. Though the words was barbed aimed at the cat, the tone was said casually yet carried a weight on it.
