Chapter 2: The Lady in Waiting

I wake up in a small room. It seems like it is a storage room. It is full of empty boxes. I am about going out from that storage room when I discovered that this place is a university because students are everywhere.

"Hello" a pretty girl wave her right hand as she walks towards me. "Why were you absent,Kath?" she asked. I look at her eyes. I am confused. How come she can see me? "Hello~~ Kath~~" as she called me.

Kath? Wait. "Can I borrow your cellphone for a moment?" I asked. Undoubtedly, she gives me her phone. I open the front camera to confirm.

I am in total shocked when I see my face. It is the body of that girl. But why is she alive? "Kath, Calvin invited us to his birthday party this coming April 15, 2016. Do you think you can attend?" she asked as she look to me straight.

To be honest, this is very shocking to me. It seems like I am travelling back in time before she died.

So, it means that I could witness how and where. "Hello? Kathy~~~" she called.

I came back to my senses. "Uhmm... if I am not busy on that day" I replied as Kathy.

She pouted. "You're never become busy. Why are you so busy suddenly?" she asked. On a way she speaks, it sounds like she insists.

"Why should I come?" I asked. Her face seems shocked. "Hey! Why are you asking like that? You are waiting for a very long time to hang out with Calvin but why is your mind suddenly change like that?" she said with suspicion.

Well, I don't know who is this Calvin. I hope that Kath's ghost is with me.

The moment I think of Kath being with me, she immediately appears in front of me.

"This is the past. It already done in the past. You are only experiencing it to find out where he hides my body" Kath said with sadness then disappeared.

I look at the pretty girl who talked to me about the party. "Alright! I'll go." I answered.

The days and nights passedby so fast. It looks like it really want me to find it as fast as possible.

Kath appeared in front of me. "Whatever happened, you will never feel the pain" she said then point out a house in a subdivision.

I found myself standing in front of a house. Inside the house, there are students that I saw from the university.

"KATH!" someone called so I turned around. It is a guy and he looks familiar to me. "I thought you couldn't attend my birthday party. I am glad you are here!" he said.

His eyes were blacked brown, his hair is kind of messy, his clothes are tidy and his voice is so manly. I didn't know he is very attractive in a short distance. He is very attractive in this past compared to the present time.

"Kath?" he called. "Y... Yes?" I sound uncomfortable or maybe this is how Kath reacted before.

"Let's go inside" he offered his arm to me then, we walk inside.

It is crowded inside. The music is very loud.

He offered me a glass of wine. I took it from him. "The wine's flavor is grapes and it makes you a little bit drunk" he explained. I just smiled at him.

I don't know when it will end.

Then, the time goes so fast again.

I found myself outside the campus. I heard the cheers of the crowds as they say "I DO! I DO! I DO!"

I look on to the man in front of me. He sounds like he is sincere. I would like to say 'NO' but I couldn't. I forgot. This body is Kath. Of course, she will say 'YES'.

Unexpectedly, he immediately inserted the ring in my ring finger. "Thank You, Kath" he said.

The time showed to me how it all happened. But I only have to find out where he hides the body.

And now, I found myself wearing the wedding dress. "I look beautiful, right?" Kath said when she appeared in front of me again. "Be prepared, this is the time he murdered me" she said.

I heard a man's voice. "I love you too, Honey". I felt anger then confronted him."Hey! Who is that woman, huh?!" I shouted at him. I don't know why I reacted like this. It hurts. Maybe, this is the feeling of Kath.

I got his phone and scan through the call log. "Kristine?" I whispered.

Kath suddenly appeared. "Kristine was my best friend. She was the one who invited me to Calvin's birthday party" she explained with anger. Oh! That pretty girl!

"Hey! You and Kristine fooled me all this time?!" I shouted at him. He laughed devilishly.

He walks near me and whispered. "You don't get it?" he started. "We just want your wealth" he added. A tears came out from my eyes.

He laughed again. "You opened bank account for me. You opened a bank account for us. You put much money in it. Do you think I could marry the girl I dislike the most?" he explained.

I pushed him back. It makes him mad. "Are you mad?" he smirked. "Do not worry. It won't take long" then, only thing I know, a knife is in me and he push me to fall down on downstairs.

I thought Kath is right that I couldn't feel the pain. But I do feel it. It feels like I'm going to die inside Kath's body.

"Hazel, you can stand up now. The body is dead" Kath said.

I stand up as a soul. A soul and a ghost is far different. A soul is a living human while the ghost is a dead human.

We followed Calvin as he start the engine of the car with the body inside it.

He stopped in the middle of the road. Someone approached him. It's Kristine.

"What did you do?! This is not part of the plan!" she said as she cried. "She found out about the plan" he said while Kristine keeps on crying.

"Can you help me hide the body?" he asked. "But... Calvin--" she couldn't finished what is she going to say because Calvin interrupted. "Don't worry. No one will find out" he said calmly.

We look to Kristine. She looks scared.

"Calvin, let me handle this. What if other people witnessed it? What will you do?" she asked with worries.

"Okay, I'll leave it to you. I trust you, Honey" he said then kissed her forehead.

Calvin left the car and left to go in hiding. Kristine checked her pulse. "She's... She's alive!" she said.

I and Kath look at each other. So, all this time Kath is alive?

Kristine starts the engine and goes to the big hospital as we followed her.

Then, we find out that she's in coma for two years.

A gravity pulled me back and I wake up.

I am sweating and breathing fast.

"Are you okay?" Kath asked.

"So, you are in coma for two years. And you're not a ghost but a living soul" I said to her. She smiles.

"Thank you, Hazel" she said as she hugs me.

"You have to be there" I said. And she nods. " I will visit you often, okay?" I said to her then she left.
