Chapter 32

"Oh my god, Diya! Are you being serious right now?". Diya looked on silently at her phone screen. Seeing her silence, Kaia and Ravi gasped; demanding she explains.

"Your dad is a real asshole. I can't even imagine how your mother is surviving. Even though, how could you just marry a stranger? What if he is a vampire and waiting to drink your blood or a werewolf-" Ravi intervened before Kaia could finish.

"I get that you're rewatching twilight but this isn't the time for this." he turned to Diya, "Do you need me to visit you? I can do that right now.". Diya smiled seeing his worried expression. "I'm not that dumb to pick just anyone to get married to. Yes, I didn't know anything about him at that time but I had no other choice. He is the only decent one I know".

"You don't need to worry. He and his brothers are very nice to me.". "What are you planning to do with this 'temporary marriage' of yours in the future?". Diya shook her head at Kaia's question. "I don't know. I need to make sure mom and Pari are safe from father. After everything's settled maybe I'll just divorce?".

Diya sighed. 'What's with this odd feeling when mentioning the divorce?'. "So you're just using him?". Diya was feeling guilty about this thought already but hearing someone saying it out loud made her feel terrible.

After ending the call, she went out to the balcony and stared at the sky. 'I am using him. He agreed without demanding anything in return when I asked him to marry me. Why was that?'.

Diya knocked on Ajay's study. She wanted to know. "Come in.".

Ajay looked up from the piles of documents. When he saw it was her, he closed the file and asked, "What's up?". "Why?". Ajay looked at her in confusion. "Why did you agree to marry me?". Ajay didn't expect this question from her out of nowhere so he pondered about what to say.

No matter how many times he thought about it, he could only think of one answer and he decided to be honest about it. "Because I didn't like the thought of you marrying someone else.". Diya was taken aback.

Ajay sighed and stood up. He walked towards her and their faces were only an inch away from each other when he stopped. "I don't have anything else to say as I'm not sure about these feelings of mine too. Give me some time. I'll give you a different answer if I could think of one.".

"Are you fine with me using you for my own problems? At least ask me for something in return so I don't feel this way.". "I don't mind.". Diya looked at him like he had two heads. "You don't mind?".

Ajay smiled. "Odd, I know. But that's how I feel. As for your next request, I'll ask you when the time is right. Aren't you hungry? Come on. I'll make you something.". Diya looked at his back and sighed. She came here so she can clear her head but she was confused even more.
