"Call that woman and make her presentable." Chen Dewei ordered one of his men. He just finished his call with the old Han and didn't seem to be happy.
'For someone like him who committed so many crimes, he sure is a walking contradictory.' He smugly smirked.
'A debt is a debt.' Whether they liked it or not, he would collect the payment.
The woman, who was staggering to stand up, was escorted out of that dark room. Since she was still blind folded she really couldn't tell much the difference. She just walked and walked like a soulless doll being guided by someone.
When she was stripped naked she jolted but didn't utter a single sound. She then felt the warm water touching her skin.
After about an hour, her blind fold was removed and she didn't immediately opened her eyes as she knew it would take time to adjust from darkness to light.
"What are you waiting for, come inside. Master is waiting." The man who was in her right side spoke.
It was then she opened her eyes and saw a closed door in front of her.
'So that's why I was taken out and washed thoroughly. Chen Dewei decided to meet me.' She mockingly told herself before she turned the door knob and walked in.
She saw the back of the man she admired for so long. She felt incredibly empty. Her passion and desire to be with him that was strongly burning seemed died at some point when she was in that dark room.
She emotionlessly stepped forward.
"Do you want to live?" He calmly asked.
His voice was indeed intoxicating. It was gentle and soothing. It could still give her an enchanting feeling. She lowered her head and cursed herself.
"No, I want to die." She immediately answered.
Chen Dewei chuckled. "For someone who's impersonating Han Meixiu you sure are weak."
He didn't even glance at her. His back was still facing her.
'He knows!' She screamed in her mind and her body started to quiver. Was she imprisoned because he knew she was pretending?
Chen Dewei slowly turned around and faced the woman who was utterly shocked. He gave an enigmatic smile, the smile that in normal circumstances could captivate anyone's heart but for Han Meili it was definitely a demonic smile that could awaken her innermost fear.
She kneeled.
Chen Dewei looked at the kneeling woman. The only resemblance he could see was her hair and the shape of her face. Maybe a little bit about her eyes, too. But still a far fetched from the real one.
"You will meet death only if I allowed you to."
"What do you want me..to..do..?" She answered in between her erratic breath.
"I'm offering salvation. Gather as many relatives as you can, ."
She looked at him. 'Salvation? Why do I feel it's actually the opposite?'
"It's tonight. The venue is here."
After he finished talking, Han Meili was escorted out.
She thought she would be back in that room, but she was instead ushered to a normal bedroom. It gave her short relief.
Before the man who escorted her left, he gave her a phone. 'A phone!' She slightly perked up as she received it.
She stared at it and went inside. When she thought she would finally be alone, she saw two maid attendants. It's a clear indication that she would be monitored. But the spark of hope when she received the phone didn't diminish a bit.
She first called her mother but she wasn't answering. She also called her grandfather, maybe he could do something. She would just give a cryptic message and hope he would understand.
But also, he didn't answer.
She tried few numbers of her cousins she's closed to.
Finally, someone picked up!
"Meili? Where are you?" Her cousin on the other line asked with a panic on her voice.
"My mom's not answering my call.."
"So you're not in the main house? It's chaotic there now!"
"Why?"
"I'm not really sure, but the police somewhat raided the main house and arrested people!"
"Raided? Arrested? Why?" She confusedly asked.
"Yeah, even Grandfather was…"
She didn't hear the rest of the sentence as it was suddenly cut.
"Grandfather was what? Hello?!?" She tried to call again but she only heard the busy tone.
Upon hearing her shout, one of the maid servants opened the TV mounted on the wall.
It showed breaking news and a live telecast about the Han Family.
The more she watched, the more she felt weak. It was as if the world she used to live suddenly crumbled down to ashes.
Clearly, there wouldn't be any help no matter how many times she would call her family.
'Isthis your doing, Chen Dewei? You are just too cruel!' Her tears that she thought have been dried up started to fell down her face once again.
'It was just a minor mistake in our part. You don't have to trample us down.'
She said she wanted to die to at least threaten him but who would have thought she couldn't if she really wanted to. She's simply not allowed. She could only live and bear this kind of humiliation.
She knew, the only logical thing she could do was to obey. She didn't know what kind of 'punishment' she might receive if she wouldn't follow. Her body still remembered the inflicted pain when she was being disobedient.
'Gather as many relatives as you can.' The order was clear.
She should do it. There's simply no other option.
She should think of a reason how those people would gather in this place, tonight.
