Closing Ceremony

Even though there were three entrances in total, there's only one main table where participants would sign to confirm their attendance. It's located in the center of the area surrounded with glamorous decorations and security personnels.

The bright lights that gave the area more than enough lighting were arranged in a majestic manner up in the ceiling.

All participants were wearing formal attire and some were even considered over dressed. If someone would clearly observe, the people who were dressed simpler were the people with higher status. They simply didn't need to show off as their faces would be enough to be recognized in the event.

Han Meixiu who was a person not fond of this kind of gathering seemed to feel tired already upon entering the hall. While they were walking towards the older Liu couple, there were already multiple greetings they received. She's actually thankful that her husband didn't like engaging even in small talks. He would just stop and did the customary greeting then they would continue walking.

Of course, it was the first time the public saw the Second Young Master of the Liu family escorted a woman thus there were actually countless of flashes exploded when they were entering the venue. Some were even brave enough to directly ask Liu Zijian. The latter would just simply answer 'my wife' then they would continue moving on to avoid additional questions.

It might've been considered rude but obviously, the young man wasn't in a bit worried about his actions. He's been known for this kind of demeanor thus an additional negative remarks about his social interactions wouldn't hurt him a bit. Besides, those people weren't really significant in his eyes. They were just the type who would like to gossip around. Those people should already be lucky he answered.

Inside the hall, surprised glances were given to the oblivious couple who were minding their own business.

When the two reached the seat designated to them, they saw the older Liu Couple. Liu Zilong was still interacting with some important dignitaries.

Han Meixiu's smile looked sweet but if someone knew her, they could definitely say she's already exhausted. She's not actually ordered to plaster a smile on her face but seeing her husband's snob reaction she felt she should somewhat balance their appearance as a couple by doing the opposite. But she must guessed wrong as maintaining a smile was indeed tiring that her face muscles already froze up.

"This won't take long." Liu Zijian said. He's been telling her that same statement ever since they got off the car.

Han Meixiu would answer either "I know." Or "Yeah." This time she just nodded.

*

During the entire closing ceremony, she tried her best not to sleep and entertain herself by simply observing around.

She took note of the people the Liu Family interacted with and tried to analyse the existing 'relationship' they have with the Lius.

She didn't know if she's being paranoid but she felt someone was clearly watching her. She even tried to look around but couldn't see anyone.

Before the closing ceremony ended, she excused herself to go to the restroom. She felt a bit uncomfortable not being able to find out if her intuition was true or not. There would still be few minutes left before the program would finally wrap up.

Upon exiting the restroom someone familiar called her attention.

She saw her cousin Yu standing next to a woman in a seemingly isolated area. Normally she wouldn't care about her cousin's business but there was something's not right the way they were behaving. If she wasn't exposed to 'police operations' even in theory, then she might just pass it off.

She remembred that one of her best friend's assignment was to understand a certain video clip. Before they watched it, Li XIaozhi explained to her that most undercover or special agent when they're reporting acted in similar manner. In the video, they needed to identify who among those people in the crowd were the special agents.

She remembered she got 2 out of 5 which was not bad for someone who was not studying the field. Her best friend got 3 out of 5 and was really upset about it. The latter even commented that they should switch their field of study since she seemed better than her.

Her curious mind began to form questions again but before she could finish her thoughts the woman left and after a couple of minutes, her cousin followed.

She knew they would continue talking somewhere even less crowded. Her feet somewhat had their own mind as she started to subtly follow the two.

After several turns she was surprised that she couldn't see them anymore. She tried to look around and made her steps bigger.

It seemed that they disappeared. Ever since she found out the 'scheme' her cousin did to wipe out the Han Family, she became a bit interested with his reason behind. If her deduction was really correct, then Zhang Yu wasn't a simple person she used to know. Considering he's the head of the Zhang Family now given his age, he might really have a talent to lead the family.

She now wondered if all influential family engaged in this kind of activity. She knew that Liu family's expertise was gathering information but to what would be the uses of those information, she only had assumptions.

As she walked back on her track since she couldn't find the people she's supposed to be following, she saw her husband walking towards her.

"Did you get lost?" Liu Zijian asked. He actually followed her after he finished talking to one of their clients but when he was about to reach the restroom area for women, he saw her walking in different direction. But after few turns she seemed to change her mind. He was actually thinking that she's following someone.

Han Meixiu shook her head gently. She took Liu Zijian hand and whispered.

"I was following Cousin Yu."

He's right. She was indeed following someone.
