Escape

As the voices came closer, han Meixiu's feet moved faster away from the sound. It was a reasonable reaction. She didn't care which specific direction she was taking.

For her survival she should run. and really run fast.

It was too late to realize that she made a miscalculation. She thought the ground was flat. But unfortunately, it wasn't.

There was a slope going down. The misstep of a hurried foot made her lost her balance.

She slid down.

Although it wasn't too steep, there was nothing she could grab into except for those fallen leaves.

It was painful as the gravity continued to pull her down.

But she didn't dare mutter a single sound.

Her wig was caught by a twig she couldn't see clearly. It made her head hurt as it was forcefully removed from her. But it made her slow down a little thus she was able to have a breather for a very short period of time.

But since the twig wasn't think to begin with, it eventually broke making her body continued to slide down.

So that's why she couldn't see anything earlier aside from those trees. The mansion and that abandon building or probably house was located on top of a hill.

And now, she's pitifully letting herself slid down slowly.

It might be a good thing to reach the bottom of this hill. Although her body was aching, she didn't want to loose consciousness. She must stay awake. Even though both of her eyes were closed, her other senses were very much attentive.

When her body finally stopped she opened her eyes slowly and looked around.

This time, she could see the city lights from a distance.

It meant she's not too far.

She wanted to cry out of relief.

She tried to stand up. Her legs wobbled and she wasn't able to balance herself causing her to fall back several times, she still tried until she was able to stand firmly.

She walked couple of meters like a drunken person on a deserted alley until she saw a road.

Since she's not sure if it's actually safe to walk along it, she stayed on the part couple of meters away.

When she looked back from where she fell, she saw some lights flashing.

She couldn't help but curse again and again.

It seemed that those people were still looking at her.

There were only small trees near her and if the light would pass through her area, there's actually no place to hide.

She had to make a decision when she was a pair of light from a car approaching.

It's either she would be captured by those people from her behind or gamble and asked help from the approaching car.

Upon arriving in a decision, she ran towards the center of the road.

A loud and squealing noise suddenly broke.

Even though the car wasn't traveling that fast, the sudden appearance of a person made the driver startled.

Although he was able to press the break on time, it wasn't enough to not to harm the person.

"I'm sorry, Young Master. I'll check it right away." The driver said as he profusely sweat and got off the car. This was only his second day but he already hit someone.

The young man didn't answer. He's already furious about the meeting he had and this newly hired chauffeur was making his mood worse.

After getting down, he spoke to the other man sitting on the passenger seat.

"Check it." There might be something going on. He's fully aware that like his family, the Yang Family has their own dirty little secrets. The person they hit probably escaped from them.

If it's really so, then he could use that person against the Yang's.

The man quickly got off.

After a few minutes, the young man saw his assistant coming back but instead of getting on the car, he gently knocked on his window.

"Dead?"

"Unconscious."

"Then call for the emergency." He irritably answered. Why were all the people these days not reliable.

"..."

Seeing that his assistant wasn't moving. He glared at him as if saying 'what are you waiting for?'

"It's a woman.." His assistant answered. It was clear that he's conflicted.

His expression was starting to turn from worse to worst.

"She's Han Meixiu." The assistant answered. When he checked the unconscious person, he didn't see any clear blood on her face but saw a small rip along her hairline. It was like a layer of skin but he wondered why was there no blood if her skin was peeled off.

When he tried to lift it up, he was surprised. The woman was indeed wearing a mask like what he assumed. But what was even more surprising was the identity of the woman.

How could he ever forget that face. How many times he was ordered to monitor her? He couldn't even count.

How did she end up here? She was clearly sheltered by the Liu Family that they had a hard time getting even a simple glance of her shadow. When she arrived in Q City, there was only one picture they were able to get. It was the day in the airport.

After that, they didn't know how the Liu Family hid her.

Upon hearing the assistant's words, the young man got off the car in a split of second.

His eyes contained mixed emotions that were indeed complicated to understand. His entire body was shaking gently.

She was delivered to him.

*

Madam Liu was still wearing her laboratory gown when she arrived at the hospital.

Her mind was full of questions. How could this thing happen.

She knew Liu Zijian wasn't the type of person who would drive recklessly.

Something must have happened prior to the accident.

The only person she could ask was Ye Ming. But the young man was also in critical condition.

As she walked towards the emergency room, she noticed that Han Meixiu wasn't around.

She started to have a bad premonition.

She immediately tried to call the young woman but unfortunately, she couldn't contact her.

Something happened to Han Meixiu! Maybe it was the reason why her son was probably agitated resulting to an accident.

Her heart that was already anxious, became even more unstable.

Several questions popped on her mind.

How could these things happened? They're in Q City!

As she was trying to calm herself, Mr. Liu arrived.

She ran towards him as if he's the holy one who could ease her emotions that was currently in turmoil.

"Calm down and tell me what happened." Mr Liu said while hugging his wife that was clearly shaken by the news. She was slightly trembling.

"I was about to finish when I heard the call. Little Zi got into an accident." She said in a single breath.

"But he rarely drives much more drive recklessly. Something must have triggered him. And..." She paused and look around.

Mr Liu followed her gaze puzzled.

"Meixiu dear isn't her." She said in a very faint voice.

Mr. Liu understood. "Stay here. We'll find her." He said in a calm voice that helped Madam Liu collect herself again.

She nodded and released herself from Mr. Liu's embrace. She then sat quietly on the provided bench nearby.

The latter then made a call.
