'I'm you're husband'
'..you're husband'
'husband'
'Huh?'
Did he hear her thoughts earlier?
Or did she wish too much that her mind was able to distort reality?
Right, she might have heard him wrong.
"Now, you know who am I..." He said dragging his words to give the woman appropriate time to react.
He obviously felt her abrupt reaction upon hearing his words.
He missed this.
He missed observing her reactions.
The thoughts that were running on her mind were clearly visible to him. Although he might not know what were those exactly, he has at least an idea.
His last sentence gave her another layer of confusion.
"You're my husband, too?"
Was she a player? It would be more acceptable if he's a boyfriend as she could actually accept she's having an affair while being married, but husband?
Could it be...
Before she could even complete her train of thoughts, the man suddenly moved his face thus he's looking at her directly now.
"Too?" His entire being became instantly covered with dark coldness.
Though inside the car was relatively warmer compared to the outside's temperature, Han Meixiu felt she suddenly transported in the north pole. She even shivered a little as she lowered her head.
She slowly raised her hand to show a wedding ring on her finger.
Liu Zijian almost flared up in an instant. If he's not worried that a group of people might chase them since they're not yet in an area considered a 'safe zone', he already stripped the woman to leave all the traces that she indeed lived in that place.
He actually wanted to turn back and burn that mansion including the man who stole his wife.
'How dare him!'
Liu Zijian's patience was hanging by a thread as he abruptly removed the ring and threw it outside the window.
Since the ring wasn't really fit to begin with, it was easy for the young man to remove it.
Han Meixiu who felt the raging anger emitting from the man, didn't utter a single complaint. She even wanted to minimize the sound of her breathing, afraid to add fuel to the fire.
"We'll talk later. Never mentioned anything about whatever you heard on that place." He said finally able to calm down a little bit.
He knew he scared her.
He didn't doubt her ignorance about of their relationship. Like him, she probably forgot her memories. But compared to him who was able to remember them while he was recovering, she probably didn't.
Liu Zijian knew Han Meixiu. She's not the kind to deceive people by pretending to be clueless.
He needed to know what happened that made her believe she has a husband other than him.
Even though Han Meixiu was indeed afraid, deep down inside her she was rejoicing.
She didn't care about the ring. She could only say 'sorry' over and over again to the man who gave her that. It was clearly an expensive piece of jewelry. It was carefully and thoughtfully made. But except from it's monetary value, there was no other feeling she could attach to it.
"Sir Second, we have a problem." The man who was driving finally spoke. Although he didn't want to interfere the reunion of the two, he had to inform the young man about their situation.
Based from the reaction of their Sir Second, the woman was probably his rumored wife. The entire LCG was actually almost turned upside down in the middle of the night to locate her. Plus the fact that sir Second himself went out to the 'field' to personally get this woman, she's indeed the young mistress they should utmostly respect.
"Tail?"
"Yes, sir. At least two."
"How far are our people?"
"They just started moving."
"I see."
"There's also another group upfront."
Liu Zijian sat up straight and took his gun he put down a little earlier. He couldn't let them sandwich them in between. Based from what he just heard, the people upfront were not theirs.
"We should get off."
Since they have tail and there was a group waiting for them, it's better to stall sometime before their own people could come and help.
He scattered the people earlier in order to infiltrate the mansion in a shortest possible time. It would take a good amount of time as well, before they would gather up and eventually joined them.
'Chen Dewei, you're surprisingly thorough.' He smirked.
He was actually expecting to meet the man earlier but was surprised when he received a report that he wasn't in the mansion.
Nevertheless, he would eventually face that man head on.
"Yes." The man understood. It would be harder for those who were chasing them to find them if they would camouflage in the darkness. The vast groups of trees on both sides of the road could help them stall time.
When the car stopped in the middle of the road, the three of them got off and went right. It was a deliberate position to confuse the pursuers if they would look right or left to start looking for them. It would be better if they would look in another direction.
"Prepare your gun." Liu Zijian told the young woman. He already noticed the sling around her body where the gun was securely placed.
"En." Han Meixiu nodded and took it out while following the man.
She clearly heard the conversation earlier and she knew the danger they were about to face. The intimidating trees coupled with the vast darkness might be scary but knowing she's with him, she actually felt calm.
They walked back from where they came from maintaining a fair distance from the road. Only the sound of the dried leaves crushing beneath their feet as they stepped on them could be heard.
As the sound of cars slowly became evident, they halted for a while to observe.
The pursuers indeed stop and checked the car. Finding it empty, the people looked around.
But instead of scattering and looking for them, the group of pursuers, got on their car and continued moving forward.
The three people got confused.
"Sir Second..."
"They're looking for someone else." He simply answered without moving his gaze from the car.
The other two silently agreed. But they still didn't go back to their car. They had to wait for the other group to ensure their safety.
"There's another group who also barged in tonight."
"It's probably them." Liu Zijian answered.
The sudden black out earlier wasn't their work. They only messed up the signal inside the mansion but was surprised that the power was also cut off and even the back up didn't work.
He initially thought LCG people was swift. Now that this man mentioned, their people probably found it out and told his 'driver' while he was rescuing his wife.
Whoever they were, he's thankful. He gained an advantage.
