Preparation

Han Meixiu was surprised when she saw Madam Liu waltzing happily towards her. She just started the second set of data to be reviewed.

The phone call was just few minutes ago and now her mother in law was already here.

Han Meixiu thought that her office was probably near.

The older woman was clearly in a delighted mood. As soon as she received the call, she immediately stormed out of her laboratory while giving an urgent order to the shocked people who didn't even had a chance to react.

"Meixiu dear, let's go." She said grinning from ear to ear as she extended her arm towards her.

One of Madam Liu's wishes would be dressing up a daughter. But since she didn't have any, her daughter in law was just a perfect candidate to make her dream come true.

During their wedding couple of months ago, she couldn't convince the young woman to dress up the way she wanted as it was her wedding. She could only swallow down her raging desire to dress her up prettily.

Now that her help was badly needed, she didn't plan of backing down.

She made the couple promise not to interfere with her 'work'.

Both nonchalantly agreed as it wasn't really a big deal however they would dress.

'Who cares if it's other people's engagement party, I should dress my daughter in law the way nobody could ever forget her.' Madam Liu thought excitedly.

Her plan was actually in conflict with her own son but both were not aware that they have different desire.

None also said something about the limit of 'help' Madam Liu would give.

"I'll see you later." Liu Zijian said before Han Meixiu was pulled away by his mother.

"En." She simply answered and went out.

When Han Meixiu left, he continued working. In between, there were times he would pause and wonder if it's really a good decision to let her come with him.

But he knew if Han Meixiu wouldn't talk to the woman involve, it would be hard for him to get a chance for the two to talk after the engagement party.

Chen Dewei wouldn't simply let them meet the woman unless he would get something in return.

Thus, tonight would might be the best and only chance Han Meixiu could talk to her.

On the other side of the city, Madam Bai was seemingly not in a good mood.

"After few days, the report is still the same?" She asked looking calm but to the man who has been closely working with her knew she wasn't the slightest calm.

"Madam Bai, there's an additional information that came just before I came here." The man said.

"Speak then." She said looking sharply at the man.

"Aside from us, there are other three other groups monitoring the place. With this, D must have been really residing there."

"Three?" Madam Bai repeated his word.

Lines formed on her forehead after the man confirmed as he nodded.

Aside from the military and that faction, there's another?

"Don't do anything. Observe until one of those groups move."

"Understood."

"The request concerning Zhang Yu, is there any response?"

"None until now."

"Alright. You're dismissed."

After the man left, Madam Bai fell into her own sea of thoughts again.

There's no response from that person.

Was she wrong?

Or that person was deliberately making her impatient?

She sighed as she took the tea and went out to the veranda. As she looked the busy street below where she was staying, she realized she's been here longer than necessary.

She didn't have much time to stay here. Once she got what she needed, she would seclude herself again.

It's simply dangerous being expose for too long.

If only she could trust someone to do what she must in Q City, she wouldn't be here.

But the one she could give her full trust was still a baby who's struggling to even walk properly.

Madam Bai looked at the melancholic scene of the Q City's skyline.

This place was once her heaven, but now even though the changes were subtle for the past decade, she felt alienated.

Let tonight be her last in Q City.

"Dewei, is there any specific instruction for tonight?"

Han Meili who was able to gather some courage and went to Chen Dewei's office without beeing summoned.

She didn't know why until now this man didn't give her tasks for their engagement party.

"You'll know later." Chen Dewei dismissively answered.

"For now, focus on your preparation for tonight's event." He continued without even glancing at her as he continued to scribble on the document he was possibly reading.

After the woman left, Chen Dewei put down the pen he was holding.

Yes, he has plan and it wasn't just one. He had back ups. But the result would still not guarantee his success.

He didn't want to be too confident.

His opponent isn't someone easy to deal with.

He had to admit, he felt his disadvantage is getting out of hand. It's getting bigger. But deep down he wanted to gamble even if the stake is high.

Whatever the possible ending, he's hoping it would be favorable to him.

"Second Young Master Liu, there's a delivery for you."

A voice coming from a speaker nearby Liu Zijian informed him.

He was currently discussing something to Ye Ming and the two paused for a while before Liu Zijian signalled his approval.

It was his suit for tonight that was specially prepared by Madam Liu to partner with whatever his wife would wear.

"Where are they?" He asked the man delivering the suit.

"They're in Grandiose Place." The man politely answered.

After Liu Zijian nodded the man excused himself and went out.

"It's just about 10 minutes away from the venue of the party." Ye Ming informed Liu Zijian.

"We can leave here after an hour. Let's juat finish the preparation needed. I believe that man has some tricks on his sleeves."

He firmly said and continued the interrupted discussion with Ye Ming.

Since Liu Zijian was doing his best to finish the assigned tasks as soon as possible, he didn't notice that it has been already time to leave until Ye Ming reminded him.

After changing into his suit, he casually went out of the office.

He thought tonight might be an ordinary night as he followed the lead of his men to Grandiose Place where his wife was waiting.

Liu Zijian planned not to stay long in the event if nothing out of the ordinary would happen.

The two of then could rest early or he could work some more if time permits.
