Twins

Mr. Liu who just came in from outside saw his wife getting lost in her own sea of thoughts after lowering her own phone.

"Something wrong?" He asked worriedly. It wasn't normal for Madam Liu to be this quiet.

Madam Liu walked towards Mr. Liu and hugged him. Although Mr. Liu wasn't surprise with her action he was puzzled.

"They are having twins." Madam Liu whispered. "I am really happy..."

She didn't need to continue her words because she knew Mr. Liu understood the her sentiments.

"Medical field is already advanced these days. You don't need to worry." He calmly said and guided his wife to the nearest seat.

"I know." Madam Liu answered and smiled softly.

In all honesty, she really wanted to jump for joy after hearing the news. But a deep worry started to sprung inside her.

Her own mother died after giving birth to her and her sister. Her twin sister was born weak. After their 7th birthday, her sister eventually passed away.

Since then, she would double her effort for everything. It was for her and her sister.

People said she was a genius. But in reality, she just worked harder than anyone else.

For her, she was living for two people. Hers and her sister. She always had the feeling that she took the nutrients away from her twin resulting for its poor health.

Even her own father explained to her that she did't need to feel guilty about it, she couldn't stop the habit of living while carrying the dream of her sister.

Until she met Mr. Liu. He was the first one she ever wanted for herself. She even cried in front of her sister's tomb asking for forgiveness of being selfish this time.

When she came home during the break that time, she told her father about Mr. Liu.

Madam Liu couldn't forget her own father's reaction. He was happy that finally, she would live for herself and not be burdened by guilt.

"I'll support you. Both your mother and sister will agree to me as well. Your happiness is important."

Having that strong courage she pursued the love of her life.

"I have to change some minor details." She said after calming herself.

Mr. Liu nodded. It won't be bad to invite hie wife's old man to the celebration.

*

It was part of the couple's evening routine to stay in the study before going to bed.

When Han Meixiu came in holding a tray for some light snack as she knew her husband would be sleeping late, she saw him flipping a page and writing something on it.

After placing the tray on the table, Han Meixiu saw Liu Zijian closing what seemed to be a booklet.

"Where will Brother Long go?"

"South. He needs to check personally check the resort in that area."

Liu Zijian casually answered. Normally, it would be his duty but since he didn't want to leave his wife and also didn't want to bring her with him, the work fell on his brother.

"I called Mommy Yi." Han Meixiu started.

"En. You're not yet sleepy?"

Han Meixiu shook her head. "Jian, about Doctor Tang..." Although she's not some kind of saint who wanted to help everyone, Han Meixiu felt she could do something about her doctor's problem.

"You want to help her find her children?"

Maybe because she's being happy and she wanted the people around her to be happy, too?

Han Meixiu didn't directly answer but instead looked at Liu Zijian.

"I have an initial report about her."

"You do?"

"En. When she was chosen to be your doctor I collected information about Doctor Tang to ensure she's harmless."

"Can I read it?"

"Of course." Liu Zijian rummaged some folders for a while and after finding what he was looking for, he took it and handed it to Han Meixiu.

For the next hour, the entire study was silent.

After reading the report, Han Meixiu massaged her temple.

In the report, Doctor Tang, who was an orphan was struggling financial but she was determined to finish her study.

The young doctor sold herself to a wealthy young man that time and that one night resulted for an unwanted pregnancy.

When she informed the man, she was only given money to abort the life in her. But since she wanted to become a doctor, she couldn't kill off the budding life inside her.

Instead of aborting, she look for people who wanted to have a child. She was planning to sell her own child. That time, it was the best decision she could come up.

Besides, if the interested party would be willing, she wouldn't have a problem with the medical expenses of check ups and vitamins. It would be all provided.

It wasn't easy to find someone who could match her demand but a stroke of luck, she indeed found one.

It was a single middle aged lady, without family and owned a flower shop.

Doctor Tang actually didn't see her children. By the time she came back to her senses, she was already alone in the hospital bed and a check was securely beside her.

The woman disappeared in the area and the young doctor couldn't find her whereabouts. She only managed to know that her twins were both baby boys.

After becoming a renowned doctor, she hired people to look for the woman who bought her kids. Unfortunately, she already died. The twins eventually ventured somewhere and no matter how much they looked into, the private detective could no longer find them.

After reading, Han Meixiu was able to fit the pieces of the puzzle.

"Doctor Tang probably thought her children were already dead but someone gave her the paperweight and informed her that they're alive. If it is so, where are they?" She pondered for a while.

"Don't tell me.. They're part of black.com!" She exclaimed.

That woman, might be the sweetheart of one of the twins? Probably a wife? Given the hatred she showed that time, the woman must have been raging with resentment in behalf of her husband.

Han Meixiu could also imagine herself getting mad at someone if her husband would suffer.

If that's the case, there's a way she could indirectly help Doctor Tang. But the question would be, will her possible help really do a greater good or not?

Liu Zijian was clearly aware of Han Meixiu's way of thought.

He sighed before he spoke. "You don't need to bother about their problem."

He witnessed the treatment of the woman to Doctor Tang. If there was really an absolute hatred, her actions would be like that. But then again, he could be naive when it comes to other people's behavior.

Yes, in reality, Liu Zijian believed that the woman was Doctor Tang's child. As for the inconsistency of the gender, he only thought that there could be a mixed up with the details.

The person who told the doctor that she had two boys, probably lied or that woman was really a man.

Either way, Liu Zijian really didn't care.

"I know. I just can't forget Doctor Tang's sorrowful face. And now that I'm going to be a mother, I can somewhat understand her pains." Han Meixiu answered in a low voice.
