The Squater

Logan walked out of the library in search of a place to stay the night in. After wandering around the south side of Ingwald for the good part of an hour, Logan realized that he was dirt poor, and didn't even know the coin system that was used in this world. Cold and starting to shiver, Logan quickly walked to a barn he had seen earlier. "Well, it's better than sleeping on the streets, right? 'Least I have the cows to keep me warm." Logan muttered, continuing to do so in a comforting way, making himself walk through the cold and to the barn.

SPLASH

Logan woke with a start, coughing as water flooded his nose. "Wake up ye filthy roach and go squat in someone else's barn!" A loud voice came from in front of him. As Logan sat up and rubbed the water from his eyes, he was eventually able to make out a scrawny but tanned farmer. He was wearing what seemed to be snakeskin boots and rough cotton pants. Hair covered his bare chest, his beard streaked with gray and white hair.

"Yes sir, right away sir! I'm sorry for staying the night here without any pay, but you see.." Logan tried to make up a lie, a cover story to account for his empty pockets. ".. and then I was knocked out cold! I only woke up a little bit ago, all I've got are the clothes on my back and the wits in my head." Logan hastily replied to this man, not trying to make any enemies so soon into being reborn!

"Alright lad, be off with ye." The old man said this as he turned around and went to feeding the other cows while he waited for Logan to leave.

Standing up Logan tried to shake the water from his body, though most of it had soaked through his pants. Awake and rather damp, Logan once again set out on his journey throughout the city, letting the sun dry his clothes as he did so.

Logan made his way back to the library, excited to see Liz again. As he walked up to the front doors, he noticed a group of people staring at him. Despite the numerous stares, Logan was just as thick skinned now as he was back on Earth. Paying no heed to them, he walked inside and started his search for Liz.

He had searched for hours to no avail, getting bored, he decided to open up a book while he waited for Liz. Logan was shocked, just earlier he was looking for information about Godmaer, specifically the currency used there. The book he just found was: Guide to the Godmaer Kingdom! This should be perfect for him, and will almost definitely contain information about the currency system in place here!

It was very different than the money system back on earth. Where there were pennies and nickels and such, along with dollars and checks and credit cards. Things were much simpler here in the Godmaer Kingdom. They used pence, shillings, and pounds. Only three units! This fact alone surprised Logan, but not for long as he saw the conversion rate for the money here.

"So.. 12 pence in just a single shilling? Are shillings really worth that much, to be priced so high. I can't imagine the normal worker here gets paid more than a pence or two a day." Reading on, Logan became even more surprised. "Twenty shillings, or two hundred forty pence in just a single pound? How much could you buy with a pound? Would even a major of a city have that much money?

While marveling about this world's economy, Liz entered the library. She was dressed in a floral blue dress, her light brown hair cascading over her exposed shoulders. Logan finally noticed this, and as he turned to face her, she suddenly stopped moving. Her whole body shuddered, her average yet perky breasts bouncing slightly at the sudden change in motion.

"Why are you staring at me like I'm some kinda prey? Jeez I just wanted to help you out some more you don't have to be such a creep!" Liz whispered to herself, taking care not to let Logan hear it. "Hey! Logan is it? Ready to carry on with the tour today?"

Logan was still looking at her chest, and after registering her question he quickly looked away, his face turning red with embarrassment. "Uh.. sure haha. What else is there to see in the library though? Didn't you go through everything in here yesterday Liz?"

Liz, noticing Logan's eyes shift away from her chest, blushed lightly before looking at her feet. "No silly, I want to show you a tour of this part of the city!" Liz had a sparkle to her eye as she said that, as though she too wanted to go out and explore the city.

"Sure! Let's go! I've always wanted to know more about this place and the surrounding buildings." Logan happily accepted, after all, who wouldn't want to spend the day with a pretty lady? "System, what's her cultivation level?" After asking this Logan took a closer look at Liz, and soon floating words appeared next to her; [Scholar, Pinnacle Stage]. Logan gaped at her, surprised that she was ranked so high when he wasn't even considered a cultivator!

"Well? C'mon dummy let's go explore!" Liz let out a laugh, dragging Logan out into the great streets of Ingwald.
