The Preparations

SPLASH

Awoken once again to the feeling of cold water splashing against his face and body, Logan slowly opened his eyes. "Didn't I tell you to get out of here? GET, SCRAM!" The old voice once again welcomed him. "I see you 'round this barn one more time boy and I won't be the only one waking you up, if you get my meaning." He threatened, a cold glint in his eye.

"S-sorry sir! I just didn't know where else to go.." Logan trailed off, his voice jumpy and unstable. "I'll just be on my way now. Good day sir, and I promise you won't see me again." He quickly said this, wanting to get out as fast and as soon as possible.

"Now hold on right there!" The old man continued. "You dropped this." He opened his fist and dropped twenty pence into Logan's hand.

Startled, Logan froze for a second before profusely trying to refuse the money, it wasn't his after all. If it was, do you think he'd stay in a barn?

"B-but this is-."

"Just take it lad, and be on your way." The old man stated, not giving Logan any room to deny the money.

"Thank you sir, might I know your name?" Logan, being respectful, asked. He began to realize that the man didn't really mean him any harm.

"My.. name? It's been so long since someone has said my name aloud before." He seemed to be lost in thought, probably trying to remember his name Logan thought. After some time, his eyes cleared up. "My name is Nechtan, and I think you'd best be on your way now Logan."

Logan was shocked, he had never told this man his name before! Thoroughly spooked, Logan hurriedly accepted the money, slightly bowing as he did so. Without even glancing back, Logan bolted out of there, vowing to never come back.

It wasn't going to be that easy for poor Logan.

Slightly clammy, Logan opened his hand and glanced the money, wondering if he could afford a place to stay with this, and maybe some better clothes. He was starting to stink, and not in a good way.

Making his way down town, Logan finally found a decent looking stall that sold clothes. It took him nearly thirty minutes to find clothes that were his size. After picking out some brown pants that weren't the best condition wise and a black long sleeve shirt, Logan made his to the woman that the front of the stall.

"' 'Scuse me ma'am, how much for the clothing?" Logan asked, hoping silently that the price would be low. He didn't exactly know how the pricing worked here in Ingwald.

The lady looked up from what she was doing, giving Logan a once over before looking at what he had in his hands. "That'll be fifteen pence sir." She said while staring at Logan current and dirty clothes.

Logan, unsurprisingly, tried to barter her down.

"How about... ten pence? As you can see I'm not exactly the richest person around." He tried to use logic. What kind of poor kid that looks like they haven't had a bath in a week has fifteen pence?

"Hmm, twelve pence is the lowest I'll go. Ask for anything lower and you can leave." She said, wanting Logan gone as soon as possible.

Logan didn't want to be late to his new job, and was frankly getting tired of this lady. "Fine fine, here's the money." Logan half threw half put down his money on the counter before walking away, slightly salty that he lost nearly all of the money that he just got and it was only for clothes!

Looking at the eight remaining pence in his hand, he was saddened in a way. Feeling like he shouldn't of squandered his money in such a way. He hoped he could still buy whatever else he needed for later today. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out the ten pence he still had, two from the previous day and the other eight from Nechtan.

Finding a nearby bush to change behind, he left his old clothes on the ground. Walking away and back onto the road, Logan made his way to 'Boss Lady', ready to get an early start on his job. Getting slightly lost and a bit confused, Logan finally found his way back. He hoped he wasn't late, cause that would kinda suck ass.

Seeing her just get to the stall, Logan sighed a breath of relief before hurrying over. "Sorry for being late Boss Lady! I went to get new clothes and got kinda lost on my way back here." Logan apologized. After saying that, he quickly started unpacking the wagon, putting the various fruits and vegetables onto the stall's counter. He did this fairly quickly, after all, it was only food stuffs. Looking around, Logan finally found the area to put the clothes. He tried to make it neat and presentable, but with the overwhelming amount of clothes it was near impossible.

"Boss Lady, I'm done with my tasks! I'll be on my way now, see you tomorrow!" Logan walked up to Mary, reporting that his job was done.

"My my Logan, you are such a fast worker! Well, as promised, here is three pence. Take care now and don't be late tomorrow! Mary said nonchalantly, putting Logan's money on the counter before resuming what she had been doing previously. She seemed to be reading a book.

Now having thirteen pence to his name, Logan starting to make preparation for stealing the pin. He needed to get supplied, though he didn't know what kind. Logan would check to see what the various stalls all had before buying what he needed.
