So after all the tantrums I threw from morning till the early evening, I finally regained my composure to accept the fact that my account was missing, at the moment. And with the feeble belief that a fresh restart won't be so bad at all, I entered the game.
_At the beta-tester's counter table_
"So, self-proclaimed first beta-tester, you finally came back, huh?"
The angel whom I met back when I entered in the morning said wryly, while waking up from her nap. "It's been like a day since the last time you popped up here."
I thought of punching her as she finished her sentence with an irritating smug on her face.
"So what do you want? Self-proclaimed first beta tester? It was really hard to explain the superiors about that incident, especially because it was so hillarious!!"
Arrgh! Just after I decided to apologize to her as well about the morning incident.
"You know what, leave it. I'll be going." Saying that, I headed towards the beginner's counter.
I stood in the massive beginner's line. Of course, the people were getting so checked in steadily, but the line was long, that the estimated time for me to re-register myself into the game would take about 3 hours! (I estimated the time by myself.)
I can't wait that long. But got no choice, since I have to respect the other players as well and wait in line.
_After 15 minutes_
"Arrgh, this ain't gonna work." I kind of yelled inside my head because the line wasn't getting any shorter and my patience was running out.
"So, you finally got sick of waiting, eh?"
I turned back to check who it was, and it turned out to be that annoying angel, levitating in mid-air.
With a grumpy face, I replied: "So what, you got any problem?"
"Well no, but I was wondering how long your patience will last. I look forward to seeing another outburst of yours." She said, with an irritating smile.
"Huh!! What do you mean?"
"Oh don't worry, I'll tell the superiors that it was just another normal impatience player problem, also known as IPP(s)."
This angel's just come here to piss me off, hasn't she? Moreover, what's with that silly abbreviation?
"So, what are you doing here? Is it okay for you to leave your counter?" I asked.
"Oh don't worry, nobody visits that counter anyway. Being there just makes me lonely. It's been isolated like that since four months, I guess...."
"Oh.."
Hearing her, I did feel a little sad about her, if nothing else.
"Plus, it's my break! I can loiter around all I want!"
"Give me back my sympathy for you!!" I instantly thought — right after unnecessary feeling sympathetic for her.
Moreover, is that something which a divine angel should do, I mean, loiter around?
....
"Hey, missy."
"What? And don't call missy."
"Hmmm.... Then, how should I address you?"
I too started thinking. Which word would be suitable for her to even address me? Calling me with my name would be a lot easier, but for some irritating reason I don't want her calling me with my name.
"Oh yes, I can just call you SPFBT."
"What's with that? So lame..."
"It stands for Self-Proclaimed First Beta-Tester. Oh and if you think it's lame, I think it's hillarious!"
"This angel's just pissing me off!" I angrily thought as she rolled in mid-air laughing over her own abbreviation.
"Humph, if you've just came here to annoy me, you may leave and loiter around somewhere else."
"Oh come on, don't be like that. Be honoured that an angel is spending her time by speaking with you." She said condescendingly, with a smirk on her face.
"Nobody asked you to, so please leave." Saying that, I turned forward.
............
"Eh, did she really leave?" Thinking that, I again turned back to check where she went and saw her talking to another angel.
Well, it's all good if she left. Now to just wait for my turn to check in.
_After 30 minutes or so_
"Arrrgghh, I can't do it! I can't wait anymore!!" I muttered to myself.
"Ah come ON!!"
"GAAAH!!" Hearing that sudden voice, I shrieked and looked back and found out it was that angel again.
.......
"Pffft~ HAHAHAHA!!.." She started laughing over the way I shrieked.
"You! What do ya want again?!"
"Ahh.. sorry, the way you screamed was just, so amazing.. ahh" She continued as she wiped off her tears from all the laughing, "Do you want to enter our world that bad?"
"Ye-Yeah, why not?"
"Well then, follow me! I'll get you registered!"
"What do you mean? How?"
"Well we have this rule that angels on their breaks can do whatever they want, unless it goes against the laws of heaven. So I thought of asking the seniors whether getting someone registered from another category is eligible or not, and they said yes!"
I was a little amazed with what she did, and asked, "Why would you do that?"
"Making you wait like this made me feel a little bad, you know... But I was looking forward to your outburst as well... Oh well I can leave that for later. Now follow me!"
Ahh this angel just says whatever she wants! But oh well, if this gets me registered to the game, then it's all good.
Although I still had some trust issues with her, I followed her.
As I followed her, I noticed she was leading me beyond the counter lines, where the superior angels were gathered, doing their businesses.
"Hey SPFBT.."
"Stop calling me with that horribly lame abbreviation!... And what is it?"
"Well.. you uh, you said that you were the first beta tester, right?"
"Well... Yeah.. so?"
"Then who checked you in that time?" Her eyes turned serious.
I tried hard to remember who was it (after all it happened like a year ago). After like forty steps, I remembered it was that angel whose voice was soothing to hear. I didn't even asked her name back then.
"A soothing voice, huh... And what else?"
"And uh... She also had a golden loop above her head, like these 'superior' angels of yours..." I said, pointing at the 'superior' angels she mentioned earlier.
"Soothing voice and also a su bright perior eh... Wait, did she have large feathery wings as well?"
I nodded. Then she suddenly stopped levitating and fell on the ground. I asked what happened to her as I helped her up.
"I think I kind of get why you were proclaiming yourself as the first beta tester in the morning, maybe.." she said, while looking sympathetically at me.
"Why, what happened?"
"Just to be sure, did that angel transported you to our world without asking your name?"
Um.......
"Ah! That did happen!"
Now that I think of it, she too didn't ask me my name as well.
Then the angel explained to me everything about what had happened back then (May had happened). It seemed that the angel whom I met back then messed up on her first day at work because of forgetting to register a being from another world, and got fired at once. Then she was unwillingly expelled from heaven and became a fallen angel.
Upon hearing her story, there was no doubt that that angel was the main reason for the loss of my avatar.
"What's her name? I mean the angel's?"
"Her name was Ange, Ange Divinisicut. She's was an archangel and was one of the top authoritatives back then...."
What? An archangel? They are like the top class in the angel's race!
"So this Ange is still alive then?" I asked.
"Well, she should be alive if you take the faith of her followers in anywhere to account. But since she has became a fallen archangel, her magic power's probably cut in half and she must've been like that for eternity. Plus, she might be now in Magicafaria, maybe in the dark realm as well."
Now that's a bind. Magicafaria's atleast four times the size of Earth, and including the dark realm it's ten times more.
"So if I find her, will I get my former self back?" I asked.
"No, there's no way. But you may get some sort of help from her for finding your former self, probably.."
After a few minutes of walking, we reached the entrance of the main office. She requested me to wait outside for a moment, and went in. While waiting outside, I saw the angels carrying documents, parcels, foodstuffs, and many such stuffs. The scene totally reminded me of people working in an office, like carrying documents and drinks.
"There you go," the angel came back and gave me a sheet of paper, "fill up the form and wait for me to come back."
I checked the paper and it seemed to be some sort of registration form. As I thought of filling it up, I realized I didn't have any sort of tool to fill it up, like a pen or pencil, plus she didn't gave me one.
Since the angels around me seemed to be working diligently, I thought of not to interrupt anyone for asking something to write with.
I thought of trying out something...
....Something that can only be done in this world...
....Something which I haven't done for like a year or so....
...Yup, I am going to try out some magic!!
I stretched out my hand and imagined my magic accumulating in my hand. I don't know whether would I be able to do some magic which I technically can't use (since I've become a beginner now), but it wouldn't hurt to try once.
I planned on generating a quill's feather to write, since generating that object is the simplest one among the other pens. It was also used as a practice spell for kids in magic schools in Magicafaria.
Then I chanted the magic spell in my mind: "Summoning magic, quill feather!"
The air around my hand brightened up and started to give a glittery glow. An opaque object started to form slowly above the palm of my hand.
I was so excited to see it happening! It's been like a year since I last performed this, and the feeling of the magic amassing in the palm of my hand felt so amazing. This nostalgic feeling made me forget everything that happened today and in the past few months.
Suddenly, the object stopped forming and bursted. The glittering glow faded, and my arm started to feel a little numb.
"Heh-?"
I failed in my attempt to cast the magic. Although I did feel frustrated for not being able to do this small magic skill, a big part of me was satisfied to be able to attempt a magic skill.
But in the end, I still don't have anything to write with. Guess I'll just ask one of the angels working, although I do feel bad to interrupt them.
_After filling the registration form_
"Heya, you done SPFBT?" The angel came back with a large package.
"Don't call me that — and here. I am done filling it up." I handed over the form to her.
She thoroughly checked the form, and said, "Then I guess I'll just call you uh... Rayka.."
"Sigh, okay fine, whatever..."
It was better than calling me SPFBT, at the very least.
"Anyway, I found this package in the delivery section with your name on it. Is it yours?"
"Wha? Who sent it?"
"Uh.. it's sent by the department back in your world."
I pondered for a bit. Then realized it must've been RifRits Entertainment who sent it over.
"Yup, that package is mine, thanks..."
"Well then I'll go submit your form, and you may go to the changing room around the corner if you want to change clothes before entering Magicafaria..." Saying that, she left.
".... Thanks..." I muttered.
I went to the room which she suggested me to use. After entering the room, I opened the package in haste. Now that I think of it, I was wondering all around the hall in my pajamas again.
Inside it, I found a professional set of equipments suitable for a beginner. I only asked them for normal, but slightly strong equipments, but this was too much luxurious.
Well I've seen & used a hell lot of better equipments than these back in my beta days, so it's not at all surprising.
_After checking the package thoroughly_
What the? There ain't even a single melee weapon! No swords, no dagger, no knuckles, no blade. Those guys at the company definitely must've thought that a girl like me wouldn't be using melee weapons. Plus, I don't even need a magic wand, yet they've added one here. And these guns and bows are all not my type.
Sigh, well I guess this gun will have to do for the time being. Ooh there's a mini crossbow as well.
From the package, I chose to wear the dark red skirt with the short black spats/shorts underneath it, the white speed boots, the black gloves along with the orange detached sleeves, the orange vest, and the red shock-absorbent hooded jacket above the vest.
There were even more better sets of clothes than these, but I chose the normal ones rather than the advantageous and flashy ones. Plus most of the clothes were having extremely high defense stats.
As for the equipments, I chose the magic nullification gun, the grappling hook, the mini crossbow, and the leather belt having multiple pockets.
But I didn't find the one thing which I needed the most. For which I even specifically provided the object ID for.
I found a letter inside the package. It said that they weren't able to find the object I asked for and apologized for it. I did keep my hopes low, but without it I didn't feel like playing the game at all.
But I guess it can't be helped, since it disappeared along with my previous avatar.
"Hey Kid."
Someone whispered. In fact, it sounded more like a robotic voice — the ones we hear in a few old-time personal assistant softwares, and from live streamers who prefer to keep their identities hidden.
I turned all around the room to see who was it, but saw no one. It felt like the voice was echoing from all over the room.
"Wh-who is it?" I said loudly.
"You've forgotten me already? It's me, K!"
K?...
Oh, the prankster whom I communicated with back in the master room below the company building.
"What is it? What are you doing here? You know this is a changing room right?" I yelled.
"Well you haven't yet started changing so it's fine."
"It's fine, you say?"
"Well anyway, how's it like to begin your adventure once again from the start?"
"Why do I even have to tell you that?"
"Hmmm... Okay, fine. You can tell me that later."
"Why did you even come here?"
"Well, since I've seen someone who was really frustrated over the fact that her account was missing, I came here to give her something to brighten up her mood!"
"Oh really, what is it?"
The ceiling above me suddenly lightened up. It looked like as if a golden portal had been opened. Then a beam of light fell above the whole room through the portal. And a fluttering piece of some kind of cloth seemed to be falling down gently from above.
I wasn't able to clearly see the cloth, but as it came down I started to realize something. It seemed more and more like the object which I wanted. As the cloth passed through the portal, I was completely sure of it. It was the one which I wanted.
I extended my hand upwards to grab it. The nostalgic feeling I got by touching it reminded me of that object even greatly. The moment I hugged it made me even more sure. The fragrance, the texture, the fabric, the torn part of the cloth. Yes, it totally is the thing I wanted.
I finally got the scarf I really wanted. As I hugged it, my eyes slowly started to overflow with tears of joy, as this was the only keepsake I had of my friend who passed away after giving me this scarf of his.
That's right. Till the scarf stays with me, it will continue to be an evidence of his existence in Magicafaria!
"I see your mood has become way better than before..."
"Th-thank you, th-th-th-thank you so muuch!!" I wasn't able to speak clearly with all the happy emotions gushing out.
"Well it's the job of a god to make his children happy after all."
"Sniffs, wh- what?"
"Ah, I'll be taking my leave now. Lets meet again somewhere in Magicafaria!" Saying that, the portal disappeared and the ceiling stopped glowing.
After changing my clothes, I looked at the large mirror at the room and complimented myself for my preferences and fashion skills. Then I left the room, along with the package, and wandered around the place looking for the angel.
_After a while of roaming around_
"Ahh— you!!"
I got startled and turned to my right to check who shouted, and it happened to be that angel.
"Wh-what is it?" I asked.
"For a moment there I wasn't able to identify you. These clothes suit you perfectly! You completely lookin' like a real adventurer!!"
"Well I was an adventurer before, so.. (in Magicafaria, of course)"
"But what's with that dragonscarf? It's too long.." she said, pointing at the scarf which I hastily wrapped around my neck."
"Oh this is just... A keepsake of my past rival."
"But isn't it too long, it's like double the height of your body."
"Hehe.. he liked to wear large & oversized ones like this after all.." I said as I embraced the warm scarf with my hands.
"Well anyway, you ready to go?" She said with an excited look.
"Go.. you mean to Magicafaria?"
"Yes, Rayka. You ready?" She sounded even more excited than me.
"Y- yes, totally!!" I exclaimed in joy.
Then we both headed to the transfer sector. I saw multiple newbies heading towards the transfer sector as well. As we went, I noticed the angel was just as excited as I was; or perhaps even more than me.
"Why are you looking so excited?" I asked.
"Why won't I be? It has been like five months since the last time I performed the divine world transfer. And I finally get to do so!!"
"Oh.." I noticed that she was really overjoyed about this.
"Also, you look way more happy than before. Did something happened?"
"I am going to start my adventure once again!! What do you expect me to look like?!"
I was going to enter Magicafaria, of course that made me very happy. But I guess it must've also been because of the scarf I got back.
The angel stopped going ahead and snapped her fingers. Then we were instantly transferred to an open white space. This room reminded me of the first time I started this game as a beta tester.
"Ya ready, Rayka?!" She was totally excited about this, and went few steps away from me.
"Yeah!!" I shouted in excitement, and stood still.
Then she extended her hands towards me, closed her eyes, and started chanting the spell for the divine world transfer.
Then a heavenly-looking golden magic circle started drawing itself slowly around me in the floor. Once it was conpleted, it started glowing very brightly. And a light breeze started blowing randomly around me, fluttering my scarf and my hair around. Then I noticed myself slowly levitating away from the floor.
This feeling gave me chills. I felt super excited about all this. It was like the magical aura was embracing me from all over.
The angel opened her eyes and said the final line of the spell.
"WORLD LANUAE MAGICAE!!"
Suddenly the magic circle turned totally white and shined even more brightly. As everything around me started to turn white, I realized that I haven't yet asked the angel her name. But I can't do anything about it now, can I? And I slowly closed my eyes, waiting to reach Magicafaria.
.......
"Hey Rayka! How was the spell?!"
I opened my eyes upon hearing that angel's voice again, and realized that I still haven't left the place yet.
"Eh.. did you fail in casting the world transfer magic?" I asked, since I should've already reached Magicafaria by now.
"How rude? I just lengthened the cast duration of the spell. Anyway, how was it?!"
"It's was great! Totally great! But it would've been amazing if you hadn't lengthened the cast duration."
"Okay, okay. Anyway can you give this to Ange if you ever find her in Magicafaria?" She said, while pulling out some sort of letter from her left sleeve.
"Ange.. oh that fallen archangel. Okay!" saying that I took the letter from her, and continued, "Also um..."
"Hmm, what is it?"
I averted my eyes from her a little, looking sideways, and while scratching my head, asked, "Wh-wh-what's your name?"
Upon asking that she gave out a pretty long sigh. I turned to her to check, but she looked pretty relieved.
"I thought that you would commit the same mistake again."
"W-w-well, we all learn from our own mistakes, I guess...."
"The name's Enge Divinisicut! Don't forget that, Rayka Miler!"
"You got it!!!"
Everything in my view slowly started to turn totally white. As it all happened slowly, I noticed Enge was waving both of her hands at me as a sign of farewell.
Then I shouted at her, "Later, Enge!!"
Then everything turned white. And I started falling down gently.
From here on, my real virtual adventure will start!....
For the second time!
[END OF CHAPTER]
Back in the player registration hallway—
Enge: (grinning) Ahh, that felt so nostalgic. But I wonder if Ange's still alive....
