"Come in come in," uncle Yang said. "Pardon the mess, it's rare for me to personally handle a registration these days. Usually, I just handle back-end administration work, but for you Little Star I can make an exception."
"Thank you Uncle," Falling Star happily replied. "You know I wouldn't have pulled strings if it weren't a serious matter."
"Of course of course, but what is the issue you want to hide? Fear not Little Star everything said in this room stays in this room."
"Well…" Falling Star hesitated and looked at Yu Chang.
"Actually, it's probably because of my situation," Yu Chang cut in. "It's not a big deal really, it's just that I'm an ordinary human, or more accurately stated a cultivation failure." Yu Chang smiled at Falling Star in an attempt to ease her burden.
"I see, and so old too."
"Eh? I'm only 18. I guess from certain angles that could be seen as old for an individual who hasn't reached level one yet, but it really doesn't feel like I'm old."
Uncle Yang coughed.
"Sorry Uncle! I used an illusion technique to get us past the reporters, I'll undo it now." Falling Star waved her hand and the middle-aged grandfather illusion covering Yu Chang slowly dissipated revealing a 160 cm young man with black hair and green eyes. "This is Yu Chang."
"I see I see, a rather sturdy young man. If I haven't missed my guess, he has the physique of a fifth or sixth level cultivator."
"Ah, yeah about that," Falling Star cut in, "did you hear about my mishap on Sunday?"
"I did."
"Well, it seems the medicines I gave Little Yu forcefully strengthened his physique. Since he was unconscious and probably dying, I had no way of figuring out which medicines were right so this happened." Falling Star blushed clearly embarrassed.
"Enough standing around, come sit, let me get the paperwork together." Uncle Yang gestured to a table with several chairs in the side room of his office. As Falling Star and Yu Chang sat down, he went to the other room to get the paperwork.
"Who's Uncle Yang? I didn't think either of your parents had any siblings."
"Well I guess you don't know everything then," Falling Star replied smugly and stuck out her tongue. "My mother has a twin sister. Uncle Yang, however, is father's friend from high school. Father claims Uncle Yang saved his life once. I call him uncle because he and my aunt have been in a relationship for a long time."
"Here we are," Uncle Yang said bringing a stack of papers over, "you don't really need to read everything, it's just your standard 'I agree to follow my master until my master deems my training to be complete' scenarios. The only thing of note is an agreement not to pass on the techniques you learn to anyone other than your future disciples. That is unless Falling Star approves otherwise. Even if it is a disciple, it is common courtesy to ask permission from your master before passing on their techniques. Now I'll let you fill this out."
Yu Chang looked at the top page and saw that it was a very basic survey of personal information, so he started to fill it out.
Name: Yu Chang
Age: 18
Height: 160cm
Weight: 62.0kg
Parents: Unknown
Address: …
"Ah, what do I put for the address?"
"Just put Twin Peaks Floating Towers, it should be enough. By the way, Uncle when are you and Aunt Jia getting married? I thought you would have been married by now."
Yu Chang went back to filling in the paperwork while listening to the conversation.
"Hahaha, your aunt is always working Little Star, I barely get a chance to see her, planning a wedding is nearly impossible. She promised me that after her current job is finished, she will take some time off. She should be back sometime this month actually. To be honest, I think you take after your aunt more than your parents, so busy training that you never have time for a social life. When are you going to start dating?"
"How did this suddenly become about me?" Falling Star asked. "You're just like mom and dad, always pestering me to get married and have kids."
"I didn't say you have to do all that Little Star, but you should at least experience what it's like to have a boyfriend."
"I'll take a boyfriend when he can last for five minutes against my fists. Granted, they have to be near my age too; I won't date a 500-year-old ninth level or 1000-year-old tenth level."
"You've set the bar a bit too high," Uncle Yang sighed. "What about Little Yu here?"
"What?" Both Falling Star and Yu Chang responded in unison. Falling Star glared at Yu Chang now that she realized he was listening in to the entire conversation. Yu Chang started filling out the paperwork furiously and no longer listened in.
"It was just a suggestion Little Star; I just want you to think about your future seriously. Being the strongest is a great goal, but it gets lonely at the top. If you advance so fast that you leave all suitable companions in the dust, what will you do then? Ask your father for the truth behind the story of how I supposedly saved his life. While I said you take after your aunt the most, you share a lot in common with your father from his younger days."
Falling Star glanced at Yu Chang who was still frantically filling out paperwork. "I will think about what you said Uncle and consider my options."
At this time Yu Chang put the pen down. "Finished!"
"Right, your father wanted me to remind you about a promise you made last night."
"I know Uncle, I'll call him in a bit. Was there anything else Little Yu needed to do? We still have a lot to do today."
"You should be good to go as soon as you sign the last page Little Star. Congratulations on completing the first step Little Yu!"
Falling Star reached over and signed the document, "All good now Uncle. We will be going now.
"Be sure to stop by and see me more when you have free time Little Star."
"I will Uncle," Falling Star smiled. "See you soon." After saying her goodbyes, she left Uncle Yang's office with Yu Chang nearly dragging him to the back exit.
